Intercom takes it at 66/80. Prices across this set run from $0 a month to $0.99 per resolution.
  • Intercom (best overall replacement). The deepest inbox and the strongest AI here, at per-outcome pricing that punishes volume.
  • Freshdesk (best value helpdesk). The AI agent starts on the $19-per-agent-per-month entry plan billed annually, then meters by session once the included allowance runs out.
  • Help Scout (best for small email-led teams). A calmer, better-built inbox with $0.75-per-resolution AI, email-led and with SMS on your own Twilio number.
  • Tidio (closest like-for-like swap). Same widget, inbox and help center build as Crisp, with a metered AI add-on that repeats the trade you are leaving.
  • My AskAI (best AI layer once you have moved). From $0.10/ticket and training on past tickets, with no inbox of our own.
  • LiveChat (best widget veteran). Mature and easy to swap in, with the autonomous agent sold as a second product.
You're leaving Crisp, or seriously weighing it, and need to know exactly where to go. The strongest replacements are Intercom, My AskAI, tawk.to, Customerly, Tidio, Freshdesk, LiveChat and Help Scout, each scored here on eight criteria, from AI resolution to security certifications, with every price rebuilt to the same monthly volume so incompatible pricing models turn into numbers you can compare directly. Intercom leads that scoring at 66/80.
I scored the eight products a Crisp team actually moves to against eight criteria, and priced every one of them at the same monthly volume, so a set of incompatible pricing models turns into numbers you can put side by side.

What is the alternative to Crisp Chat?

TL;DR: Eight products: Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Tidio, My AskAI, LiveChat, Customerly and tawk.to. Most teams replace the whole platform; a smaller group keeps a mainstream helpdesk and adds an AI layer on top of it instead.
Crisp is a whole support platform. It gives you a chat widget, a shared inbox, a help center and Hugo, its AI agent. Pulling one piece out is hard, so most people leaving Crisp end up choosing a new platform.
Crisp's AI Copilot side panel in the agent inbox, suggesting a reply from the team's knowledge base during a live conversation.
Crisp's AI Copilot side panel in the agent inbox, suggesting a reply from the team's knowledge base during a live conversation.
There are two genuine routes off Crisp. The first is a full platform replacement: a new widget, a new shared inbox, a new help center and a new AI agent, all from one vendor. Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Tidio, LiveChat, Customerly and tawk.to all work this way.
The second route keeps a mainstream helpdesk (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot) and adds a dedicated AI layer on top of it. My AskAI is the one product here built for that route.
Most teams choose the full replacement, because Crisp's build is one product, and bolting a new AI agent onto an old widget and an old inbox usually creates more integration work than it saves.
Crisp's help center says Hugo is not trained on the tickets already in your inbox and does not learn from resolved conversations over time, a limitation our complete guide to how Crisp AI works covers in full.

What's the overall comparison of these 8 Crisp Chat alternatives?

TL;DR: Intercom takes it at 66/80 on the strength of its inbox, its AI and its compliance grid, and pays for it on cost. tawk.to is free and scores like it. My AskAI lands fifth because it is not an inbox.
The eight criteria are shared inbox and collaboration, setup and migration off Crisp, AI resolution, channels, knowledge and training sources, security and compliance, maturity and scale, and cost and pricing transparency. Every score below comes from each product's own documentation, pricing page and security page. Nothing is weighted, so the Overall row is the plain sum of the eight rows above it.

Intercom wins six of the eight rows, tying with Help Scout on the inbox and with My AskAI on AI resolution and knowledge. tawk.to takes setup and cost outright. Freshdesk, Tidio, LiveChat and Customerly win no row at all. They place where they do on steady scores across every criterion rather than on any one strength.
Two totals tie, and I broke both on the higher AI resolution score. That puts My AskAI (9) above LiveChat (6) at 55, and Customerly (6) above tawk.to (4) at 51.

How did I select these Crisp Chat alternatives?

TL;DR: I picked the platforms a Crisp team actually moves to, products that carry an inbox, a chat widget and a help center in one place, plus one AI layer that installs into a helpdesk you already run.
Selection criteria:
  • It can carry a Crisp team's whole support surface, meaning a shared inbox, a chat widget and a help center, or it is an AI agent that installs into a mainstream helpdesk.
  • It publishes pricing a reader can check without a sales call.
  • Every score traces back to a page on the vendor's own site that you can open and read.
Seven of the eight are platform replacements. My AskAI is the one AI layer, and it is here because so many Crisp leavers are going over answer quality.
Zendesk is an enterprise step up from an SMB Crisp workspace, and Gorgias is Shopify-first, which narrows the reader too far. Zoho Desk is ticket-first with no comparable chat-widget story, while Hiver and Missive are Gmail-first and carry no widget at all.
Front is a shared inbox built around team email, which is a different job from the widget-and-help-center build a Crisp team is replacing.

How did I compare them?

TL;DR: Eight criteria, re-cut for a platform-versus-platform decision, scored from research files and each vendor's own documentation.
The usual "does it integrate with your helpdesk" axis is meaningless here, because seven of these eight products are the helpdesk. So I re-cut the criteria for a move.

Shared inbox & collaboration

Whether the product gives a team one place to work: assignment, internal notes, views, and cover when somebody is out. Crisp does this well for a small team, so a replacement that does it worse is a daily downgrade.

Setup & migration off Crisp

Three concrete jobs: exporting and importing the knowledge base, swapping the chat widget on your site, and deciding what happens to historical conversations. Crisp's own knowledge base importer names Freshdesk, Front, Gorgias, GrooveHQ, Help Scout, HubSpot, Intercom, LiveAgent and Zendesk as sources it can pull from. So knowledge base portability between these products is documented in at least one direction.
That importer covers what Crisp can pull in from other tools, so I give it no weight when planning an exit from Crisp.
The third job is the one Crisp answers least generously. Contacts come out as a CSV from the Contacts section on the Essentials plan and above, capped at 200,000 records, and Crisp's own help center states that conversation data cannot be exported as a native CSV from the dashboard.
What it offers for conversation history instead is its REST API or a third-party migration tool, plus a transcript download you run one conversation at a time. So I plan a Crisp exit on the assumption the ticket archive stays put unless somebody on your side writes the export.

AI resolution

Autonomous replies sent to a customer, and agent-assist drafts do not count. I scored this on what the product answers without a human, how the vendor defines a resolution, and whether there is any instrumentation to check the claim afterwards.
For where these numbers sit against the wider market, our AI resolution benchmark study puts the field median near 70% across 195 rated deployments.

Channels

Where the AI and the team can answer. Web chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, SMS and voice all count, and a channel only the humans can use scores lower than one the AI covers too.

Knowledge & training sources

What you can feed it: help center articles, crawled URLs, uploaded files, product catalogs and past tickets. This is the axis Crisp loses on, and in our scoring it separated the field more than any other.

Security & compliance

Named certifications, meaning SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR, HIPAA and PCI-DSS, plus data residency options and whether a report ever reaches a reviewer. For reference, Crisp states in its own help center that it *"hasn't been over any SOC2 audit"* and that it is *"committed to aligning with ISO 27001 standards"* without being certified to them.

Maturity & scale

How long the product has been in market, how many companies run it, and whether the named customers are AI customers or widget customers. I have separated AI customers from widget customers wherever the evidence allows.

Cost & pricing transparency

The pricing model, the published figures, and whether a buyer can forecast next month's bill from this month's. A per-resolution model gets more expensive as the AI improves, while a per-ticket rate bills the same either way.

Is Intercom a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The most complete replacement for Crisp and the most expensive one. You get a real inbox, Fin answering customers on its own, and a compliance grid Crisp does not have, at per-outcome pricing that punishes high volume.
Intercom is the product most Crisp teams benchmark against, and it wins this scoreboard at 66/80. Its AI agent, Fin, is the one to beat on almost every axis except price.
Intercom homepage hero: 'A complete system for human and AI customer service' with Start free trial and View demo buttons.
Intercom homepage hero: 'A complete system for human and AI customer service' with Start free trial and View demo buttons.
Intercom rebranded to Fin, and Salesforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire the company on 15 June 2026 for around $3.6 billion.
On G2, Fin by Intercom scores 4.5/5 from 3,901 reviews.
Martin L., Director of Customer Success (Mid-Market), reports on G2 that autonomous ticket resolution comes down to knowledge-base quality — get it strong and optimized for AI, and the resolution results follow.

How does Intercom handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

Intercom's own helpdesk is the deepest surface Fin runs on, with one inbox and one data layer behind it. Fin AI Copilot sits beside the human agent in that inbox, and it also runs inside Zendesk and Salesforce (which matters if Zendesk is where you land after Crisp).

How easy is it to move off Crisp to Intercom?

Intercom markets Fin live in under an hour with no consultants. Native help center articles import automatically, while URLs, PDFs, Notion, Guru and Confluence land within ten minutes and re-sync weekly.
I gave the 7 for what happens after that hour: one Capterra reviewer reported an out-of-the-box resolution rate near 28%, and described getting higher as deliberate content work on the knowledge base. Crisp publishes its own article on moving in from Intercom, so the route is documented both ways.

How good is Intercom's AI at resolving tickets?

Fin 3 is the current generation, running Intercom's in-house Fin Apex model. Intercom publishes a 76% resolution rate and counts a resolution when the customer confirms the answer was satisfactory, or leaves without asking for more help.
Intercom's own community forum puts a realistic starting rate at 30% to 50%. That is the number I plan a switch against.

What channels does Intercom cover?

Intercom covers the widest list here. The Fin Messenger runs on web, iOS and Android, alongside email, phone, WhatsApp, SMS, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, Slack, Discord, Telegram and a public API. Fin Voice is priced through sales only.
Running Fin standalone on another helpdesk drops Slack and proactive outbound messaging. I put that loss on the deployment route, since the same product inside Intercom's own helpdesk keeps both channels.

What knowledge sources can I train Intercom on?

Fin takes twelve sources, including internal articles, snippets, website sync, Zendesk, Salesforce and Freshdesk articles, Guru, Notion, Confluence, Box and Document360, at up to 10 external sources of 3,000 URLs each. That breadth is why this row scores a 9.
The ceiling on it is that Fin AI Agent does not answer directly from raw past tickets. It auto-drafts snippets when a conversation closes (capped at 200 per import), while historical tickets sit on Copilot's source list instead.

How secure is Intercom?

The trust center renders thirteen badges, including SOC 2, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, ISO/IEC 42001:2023, GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, HDS and CSA STAR for AI. The SOC 2 Type 2 report, ISO certificates and penetration tests are all downloadable, with data residency in the US, EU and Australia.
PCI-DSS is the one absence on this grid.

How mature is Intercom?

The largest AI cohort in this post, having crossed 7,000 Fin customers, and the most scale behind it.
We read the "more than 30,000 companies" figure as the whole company base, and the 7,000 above as the Fin number.

How much does Intercom cost?

Intercom prices as a per-seat platform fee, from $29 per seat per month list. Fin then bills $0.99 per outcome on top of the seats.
Run standalone on another helpdesk, Fin bills per outcome with no seat cost at all. That variable line is what drags this column down to a 4 out of 10.

Who is using Intercom?

Anthropic runs its own support on Fin, at 50.8% resolution after a month rising to roughly 58% after a year, with 1,700 hours saved in month one. Lightspeed Commerce has Fin in 99% of conversations, resolving up to 65% at more than 43,000 a month.
The customers page holds 110 stories, more than any other vendor here publishes.
Choose Intercom if:
  • You want the inbox and the AI agent from one vendor with no integration work between them
  • Your procurement team asks for ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA or a downloadable SOC 2 Type 2 report
  • You need voice, WhatsApp, SMS and social in the same product as web chat
  • Your volume is low enough that $0.99 per outcome stays affordable
Don't choose Intercom if:
  • You are leaving Crisp over the bill, because this is the most expensive product here
  • You need to forecast next month's AI spend precisely
  • You handle card data in chat and require PCI-DSS from your vendor
  • You want the AI answering from raw past tickets instead of articles and snippets

Is Freshdesk a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The cheapest route to a full helpdesk where the AI agent starts on the entry plan instead of the top one, with a real included allowance before the meter starts.
Freshdesk is the value pick at 62/80. Its AI, Freddy, is a layer inside the wider Freshworks platform. That breadth is what carries it to an even score across almost every criterion, and it is the all-rounder of the group.
Freshworks' homepage promoting Freshdesk's AI features
Freshworks' homepage promoting Freshdesk's AI features
On G2, Freshdesk scores 4.4/5 from 3,746 reviews, and Freddy is reviewed inside that main profile.
VINAY P., Mechanical Design Engineer (Enterprise), reports on G2 that Freddy's automation workflows and AI-assisted capabilities cut manual effort on repetitive support tasks, ticket handling and response preparation during high-volume periods.

How does Freshdesk handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

Freddy AI Copilot is channel-agnostic and works inside the unified agent workspace whatever the inbound channel, voice transcripts included. It covers sentiment analysis, a response assistant, live translation, summarization and a resolution assistant (all of it agent-facing).
The gate on it is Pro and above, as a paid add-on at $29 per agent per month billed annually, on top of the seat. Budget for that line before you compare sticker prices.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to Freshdesk?

No code is needed for the basic path. Freshdesk's AI agent is built and deployed by an admin, with no developer needed.
URL ingestion takes up to 30 minutes per URL (worth knowing if your help center runs to hundreds of pages), and custom workflow actions need the Freshworks developer SDK. Crisp's importer names Freshdesk as a supported knowledge base source, so the knowledge half of the move is the easy half.

How good is Freshdesk's AI at resolving tickets?

Freshworks markets up to 80% of queries handled across channels, which is a marketing ceiling. Its named customer outcomes span the real range, from PhonePe automating 80% of queries to Hobbycraft auto-resolving 30% of routine ones.
The 7 measures depth of AI configuration against Intercom, and Freddy gives you less of it to configure. I judge that gap hardest on teams already running deep custom flows elsewhere, since Freddy asks them to rebuild the same logic with fewer levers to pull.

What channels does Freshdesk cover?

AI Agents deploy across WhatsApp, web chat, Facebook and Instagram, and a dedicated Email AI Agent reads incoming email tickets and responds. There is a documented limit on that one: it only replies to the first email in a thread.
SMS runs through Freshchat and voice through Freshcaller. X is a ticketing channel with no Freddy AI Agent on it, and WhatsApp audio messages are not transcribed natively (a real gap if your customers send voice notes).

What knowledge sources can I train Freshdesk on?

Freshdesk's documentation names four supported source types: URLs, files, solution articles and custom Q&As. Crawled URLs have to be publicly reachable, with no login, CAPTCHA or content blockers in the way.
There is no documented automatic re-crawl schedule, so refreshing the knowledge is a manual job. That is why we scored this axis below Help Scout.

How secure is Freshdesk?

From the Freshworks trust center: SOC 2 Type 2 audited annually, SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001:2022, ISO/IEC 27701:2019, Cyber Essentials Plus, TX-RAMP, CSA STAR Level 1, CCPA and GDPR with a DPA for every customer. Regional data centers cover the US, EU, India, Australia and the UAE, and HIPAA is absent.
Put this one in front of your reviewer: Freshworks uses consenting customers' data to train its own models, and opting out means emailing support.

How mature is Freshdesk?

Freshworks claims close to 75,000 companies on its CX and EX software, with Freddy adopted by more than 5,000 organizations. Named logos include Bridgestone, New Balance, S&P Global, American Express, Honda, the NHS, Toshiba and McLaren F1 (these are platform logos, and the Freddy number is the 5,000 above).

How much does Freshdesk cost?

Growth is $19 per agent per month billed annually, Pro is $55 and Enterprise is $89. The Freddy AI Agent is included in every paid plan, with the first 500 sessions included and $49 per 100 sessions after that ($0.49 a session).
Freddy AI Copilot is a separate $29 per agent per month billed annually on Pro and Enterprise, and the only free way in is a trial. Freddy meters once the included allowance is gone, exactly as Crisp does past its credits.
For a team leaving Crisp on cost, the two differences I weigh are where the AI starts and how much of it comes free first.

Who is using Freshdesk?

PhonePe, a fintech serving 300 million users, automates 80% of queries. Hobbycraft, a UK retailer, auto-resolves 30% of routine queries with CSAT up 25%.
Freshworks publishes no multi-brand Freddy customer, so if you run several brands you are the first.
Choose Freshdesk if:
  • Cost is your reason for leaving Crisp and you still want a full helpdesk
  • You want the AI agent available on the entry plan and not the top tier
  • You need WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram alongside web chat
  • Your procurement team asks for ISO 27001 and an annually audited SOC 2 Type 2
Don't choose Freshdesk if:
  • You need HIPAA, which the trust center does not carry
  • You want deep AI configuration and a competent default will not do
  • Your knowledge lives in Notion or Confluence
  • You need the AI to reply beyond the first email in a thread

Is Help Scout a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The pick for a small team that mostly answers email and wants a docs site. A calmer, better-built inbox than Crisp's, with AI resolution priced per resolution on top of per-user seats.
Help Scout scores 60/80, and for a team whose volume arrives by email it is the easiest move on this list. The shared inbox is the product here, and everything else hangs off it.
Help Scout's homepage
Help Scout's homepage
On G2, Help Scout scores 4.4/5 from 428 reviews, with the AI features reviewed inside that main profile.
Noxy P., Operations Associate (Mid-Market), reports on G2 that Help Scout's newer AI features have become a regular part of their team's process.

How does Help Scout handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

One tool combining a shared inbox, a knowledge base called Docs, an embeddable widget called Beacon and AI automation. Four things land squarely on a Crisp switcher's list: native SLA management with Next Response Time goals, per-inbox office hours, auto-reassign when a teammate is away, and a Customer Portal on Plus and Pro.
Those last two come up on most of our onboarding calls with small teams.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to Help Scout?

Help Scout takes the highest setup score here after tawk.to. It claims users learn the platform in under an hour with no developer needed: connect your email addresses, configure Docs, paste the Beacon snippet. AI Answers is configured under Manage, then AI Agents.
Data migration covers 25 or more platforms through an Import2 partnership. Switcher, a customer that had been quoted six months of onboarding elsewhere, was live in 24 hours. The trial is 15 days (shorter than several rivals here), so plan the migration work to fit inside it.

How good is Help Scout's AI at resolving tickets?

Help Scout publishes a 73% average resolution rate with AI Answers, and its definition is tight. A resolution counts when AI Answers replies and the customer does not escalate, search the knowledge base or ask for more help, and only one is charged per session.
The reality check sits on Help Scout's own customer page, where eCatholic handles just over 15% of conversations automatically. So the 7 is for an AI that is competent and well instrumented, just short of category-leading. I plan against the eCatholic number, because it comes from one documented deployment and the published average does not say how it was weighted.

What channels does Help Scout cover?

Help Scout covers email, live chat, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. SMS is a first-party inbox channel running on your own Twilio number, and the grid still lists SMS and phone as available via integration, with Aircall as the named phone path.
X, TikTok and WeChat are absent, so this is not an omnichannel product.

What knowledge sources can I train Help Scout on?

Two separate pools here (one customer-facing, one agent-facing), and the distinction is the useful part. AI Answers, which faces customers, draws on Docs articles, public website URLs, and "Improvements", which are correction instructions that refine answers without editing the article. AI Drafts, the agent-facing pool, also reads past support conversations.
Google Docs and Sheets are supported sources, and the website source type covers PDF, Word and Excel. Neither AI Answers nor AI Drafts can read Notion or Confluence (the same gap Freshdesk has), so check where your documentation lives before you commit.

How secure is Help Scout?

SOC 2 Type II covering Security and Availability with the report on request, HIPAA with a signed BAA on Pro only, plus GDPR, UK-GDPR and CCPA. Hosting is on AWS in the United States, with annual white-box penetration testing and a 24-hour responsible-disclosure commitment.
SSO and SAML are a paid add-on on Standard and Plus and included on Pro, and sensitive-data auto-redaction is live. Data residency is the real gap: US servers only, with no EU option.

How mature is Help Scout?

More than 12,000 businesses across 140 or more countries, with 80% customer retention after four years, and a certified B Corporation. Named logos include Buffer, Vimeo, BetterHelp, Gusto, The New Yorker, WordPress and Basecamp.
It is built for teams of 2 to 50 agents, which is why we placed it below Intercom and Freshdesk on enterprise reach and above Customerly and Tidio on installed credibility.

How much does Help Scout cost?

Help Scout bills per user per month, and AI Answers is $0.75 per resolution on top of those seats.
The product documentation limits the three free months of AI Answers resolutions to new accounts. The 6 is for the two-part bill, seats and resolutions together, which is harder to forecast than one line.

Who is using Help Scout?

eCatholic handles over 15% of conversations automatically with AI Answers. The New Wheel is the other published story worth your time.
Litmus, George Washington University, OnePageCRM, TeamSnap, Switcher and Threadless all appear on the customers page.
Choose Help Scout if:
  • Most of your volume arrives by email and chat is the smaller half
  • You want a docs site and a widget without configuring a platform for a week
  • You need native SLA management, office hours and absence reassignment
  • You want the AI priced as its own line on the invoice
Don't choose Help Scout if:
  • You need EU data residency, because hosting is US-only
  • You run a true omnichannel operation across X, TikTok or WeChat
  • Your resolution rate is high, since $0.75 per resolution rises as the AI improves
  • Your knowledge lives in Notion or Confluence

Is Tidio a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The closest like-for-like swap. Same build as Crisp, with a widget, an inbox and a help center, and Lyro answering customers as an add-on priced on top of a platform tier.
Tidio scores 56/80, and of everything here it will feel most familiar the morning after you switch. It sells three pieces separately: the Lyro AI Agent, Customer Service for live chat, ticketing and email, and Flows for no-code rule automation.
Tidio's homepage
Tidio's homepage
On G2, Tidio scores 4.6/5 from 1,906 reviews, and Lyro is reviewed inside that main profile.
One G2 reviewer describes the integration between live chat and Lyro as seamless, on G2.

How does Tidio handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

The inbox is real and built for a small team, with assignment, notes and views where you expect them.
It is the piece of Tidio we see land easiest with a Crisp team on day one, which is why this row scores where it does.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to Tidio?

Tidio claims Lyro operational in about ten minutes: add data sources, test in the Playground, configure handoff and channels, go live. Installation is a Shopify app, a WordPress plugin or one JavaScript snippet, and a failed Playground question becomes a Q&A pair from the same screen.
Tidio can import a Zendesk help center. Real-world time to value runs longer than the marketing, though (Secureframe's support lead put basic onboarding at about two weeks), so plan for the fortnight.

How good is Tidio's AI at resolving tickets?

Tidio publishes 67% as its resolution rate, and the definition needs stating, because it is a deflection-style measure. It counts an interaction the customer deemed successful that did not need a follow-up within the next 15 minutes, which is short of a CSAT-verified resolution.
Tidio's own customer pages carry the range. Suitor hits 85% automation and Burker reached nearly 80% in a month when Lyro handled 10,000 conversations, while Secureframe openly targets 50% to 60%.
That last one is the realistic SaaS number. I use it as the first-month baseline.

What channels does Tidio cover?

Lyro replies on five conversational channels: the Tidio widget, email and tickets through connected mailboxes, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp, each of which can be toggled off. There is no voice or phone, and Tidio says so itself.
WhatsApp coverage for Lyro is patchy in some regions (check yours if your customers are in LATAM or India).

What knowledge sources can I train Tidio on?

Past tickets can train Lyro through the Suggestions tab, which auto-extracts Q&A pairs from solved live-agent chats (off by default, and reviewed before anything reaches a customer).
Weekly auto-sync is gated to Plus and Premium, and a re-sync replaces existing Q&As, so any manual edits are lost.

How secure is Tidio?

SOC 2 Type II covering Security, Availability and Confidentiality, with the report on request through the Trust Center. Also GDPR, CCPA and CPRA, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the EU AI Act and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework.
All customer data is stored on servers in EEA member countries, with no customer-selectable US or EU choice. HIPAA is not certified, ISO 27001 is not listed anywhere, and SSO is gated to Plus and Premium (price that in if your IT team mandates it).

How mature is Tidio?

More than 300,000 businesses across all three products, a figure that covers Customer Service and Flows alongside Lyro.
The logo strip carries Under Armour, The Body Shop, Stanley and Jaguar, none of them evidenced as Lyro users. The published Lyro case studies are SMB ecommerce and services. I plan a Lyro rollout against those case studies.

How much does Tidio cost?

Tidio sells a free platform tier alongside paid plans, and the Lyro AI agent is a separate add-on bought in conversation packs. Flows is priced separately again.
So the platform, the AI and the automation each carry their own line on the invoice.
We scored the 6 for three independently metered pools plus an auto-upgrade at 95% of quota. This metered AI is the same trade Crisp asks of you.

Who is using Tidio?

Suitor, a menswear service, reaches 85% customer service automation with Lyro. Burker had Lyro handle 10,000 conversations in a single sale month, with resolution climbing to nearly 80%.
More stories sit on Tidio's case studies hub.
Choose Tidio if:
  • You want the closest thing to Crisp's build without staying on Crisp
  • You run on Shopify or WooCommerce and want a one-click widget install
  • You want a familiar inbox your team can work in from day one
  • You sell through Facebook Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp as well as your own site
Don't choose Tidio if:
  • You left Crisp because of metered AI, since this is the same arrangement
  • You need phone or voice support anywhere in the stack
  • You want one bill instead of three separate meters
  • You want an inbox built for a larger support operation

Is My AskAI a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: We are the AI resolution layer you add to a mainstream helpdesk once you have moved, from $0.10 a ticket and no per-resolution fee. We layer onto the helpdesk you move to, and your inbox stays where you put it.
I am one of the founders of My AskAI, so I obviously cannot be impartial here. We score 55/80 and place fifth of eight.
My AskAI's homepage hero, headlined "AI customer service agent within your helpdesk, only $0.10 per ticket"
My AskAI's homepage hero, headlined "AI customer service agent within your helpdesk, only $0.10 per ticket"
We run natively inside Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, and Intercom and Zendesk are our biggest integrations. We do not integrate with Crisp, so keeping Crisp and adding us on top is not an option.
On G2, My AskAI scores 4.5/5 from 21 reviews.
DG, a small-business reviewer, reports on G2 that Gorgias' own AI agent did not work with their BigCommerce integration, but My AskAI did.

How does My AskAI handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

We score 2 out of 10 here, the lowest score on the board, because we are not a shared inbox and we do not sell one. Your team collaborates in the helpdesk it already runs.
What we add inside it is the answering layer plus the AI Copilot Chrome Extension, our copilot for agents, included on every plan with no per-seat charge.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to My AskAI?

There is no direct migration path here. A Crisp team moves to Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot first, and only then are we on the table.
Where we are an option, setup means connecting the helpdesk and training on your past tickets. A third-party agent installs either as an approved marketplace app or as an API integration, and we recommend the app: it has been through the helpdesk's own approval process, the helpdesk knows it is there, and it is more stable.

How good is My AskAI's AI at resolving tickets?

We score 9, tied with Intercom at the top of this axis. What the 9 rests on: our published resolution figure (see below, under how mature we are) is an aggregate across our whole customer base, the number every customer actually gets, and it holds up against the individual case-study numbers further down this section. Several vendors in this field publish a headline figure well above what their own named customers or reviewers report achieving in practice.
We do not claim to know an issue was truly solved without the customer confirming it. Escalation is easy on purpose, so the AI hands off when it cannot answer, when it detects frustration, or when the ticket hits a topic you have configured for escalation.

What channels does My AskAI cover?

We answer in whatever channels your helpdesk routes to us, so if it handles Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp as conversations, we answer those too. That breadth is inherited from your helpdesk.
That is why we sit below Intercom and Freshdesk here, and above the products that only work on their own platform.

What knowledge sources can I train My AskAI on?

We score 9, tied for the top. What justifies it: unlike Help Scout, where past conversations train only the agent-facing AI Drafts and never the customer-facing AI Answers, and unlike Tidio, where past tickets feed an opt-in Q&A extraction step a human must approve before it reaches the bot, our customer-facing agent trains directly on your past-ticket archive and keeps self-learning from every reply your human agents write afterwards. That is the exact axis Crisp's help center rules out for Hugo, and where Intercom's own documentation says Fin AI Agent does not answer from raw past tickets.

The My AskAI Knowledge page with source connectors
If you have no help center at all, Train on Historic Tickets generates starter knowledge from the last 5,000 tickets by default. Macros can go in as verbatim question-and-answer pairs, or be converted into knowledge articles first.

How secure is My AskAI?

We hold both SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, and together they cover the whole grid. Customer data is never used for model training, never sold, and never used outside that customer's own ticket serving, with isolated containers per customer and AES-256 encryption at rest.
That is stronger than Crisp, which states in its own help center that it has been through no SOC 2 audit, and behind Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout and LiveChat.

How mature is My AskAI?

More than 200 ecommerce and SaaS businesses run us, our agents have resolved over 1,000,000 tickets, and the rolling 30-day resolution rate across the customer base is 72% or better.
Our proof is per-customer published case studies with the numbers in them. That is what puts this row at a 6.

How much does My AskAI cost?

Pro is $199 a month with 1,000 credits, Scale is $499 with 2,000 credits and unlimited team seats, and Enterprise starts at $999 with all usage at $0.10. The all-in rate works out at about $0.10 per ticket on chat and $0.15 on email, and you pay per ticket the AI works, so the bill does not climb as the AI gets better.
Usage-based add-ons such as AI Tagging, AI Actions, Tasks and Live Translation are priced per use and billed only when used. Our agent, the integrations, guidance, custom answers, self-learning, tasks, tools, tagging and insights are all on Pro.
The 30-day free trial unlocks every feature with unlimited tickets and no card.

Who is using My AskAI?

RecruitCRM, a SaaS recruitment platform running Intercom, reaches 68% resolution across roughly 1,088 tickets a month, saving 62 hours at 75% CSAT.
YouGarden, an ecommerce gardening retailer on Freshdesk, reaches 66% resolution with a peak of 82% across roughly 12,000 tickets a month, saving 965 hours at 78% CSAT. Both case studies are published on our blog with the full numbers.

Where My AskAI loses to Crisp and the alternatives

  • Intercom and Freshdesk hand you the inbox and the AI in one product. We are the AI half only, and you still need a helpdesk underneath us, so a team that wants to buy once should buy Intercom or Freshdesk.
  • We do not integrate with Crisp. If your requirement is to keep Crisp and improve its AI, every other product in this post beats us, because we are not an option at all.
  • tawk.to's platform is free forever with unlimited agents. Our entry plan is $199 a month, and for a team whose whole reason for leaving Crisp is cost, that gap is real.
  • Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout and LiveChat carry compliance grids we do not. SOC 2 Type II and GDPR is our whole list, so a procurement team that requires ISO 27001, HIPAA or PCI-DSS should not shortlist us.
Choose My AskAI if:
  • You have already moved to Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot and the AI is the remaining problem
  • You want the agent trained on the tickets your team has already answered
  • You want a per-ticket bill you can forecast, with no per-resolution meter
  • You want to prove it on your own tickets before paying anything
Don't choose My AskAI if:
  • You are staying on Crisp
  • You need a shared inbox, a widget and a help center from one vendor
  • Your procurement team requires ISO 27001, HIPAA or PCI-DSS
  • You need a voice or phone agent

Is LiveChat a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The widget-first veteran. Mature, well supported and easy to swap in, but the autonomous AI lives in a second product you buy separately, which is how a cheap plan becomes an expensive stack.
LiveChat scores 55/80 and sits below My AskAI on the AI resolution tie-break. It has been in market longer than almost anything else here, and the widget is excellent.
LiveChat's homepage
LiveChat's homepage
On G2, LiveChat scores 4.4/5 from 799 reviews.
Tõnis J., Head of Sales, reports on G2 that the new chatbot, which learns from the website to answer requests, has been a standout for his team.

How does LiveChat handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

We scored LiveChat as an agent-facing chat workspace, short of a full shared inbox. Ticketing is a separate product, HelpDesk by Text, which picks up escalations, and knowledge lives in a third, KnowledgeBase by Text.
The newer Text App is a unified workspace tying chat, ticketing, knowledge and an AI agent into one dashboard. Collaboration inside LiveChat itself is still chat-flavored. Test that against how your team works now.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to LiveChat?

Widget-first, with unlimited websites under one license, which makes swapping out a Crisp widget mechanically simple (the easiest swap here after tawk.to). Knowledge sources are a URL crawl and PDF upload with a configurable auto-update interval.
Crisp's own importer does not name LiveChat, so the knowledge base half of the move is manual and there is no one-click path. We budget the knowledge rebuild separately from the widget swap, since the widget is a snippet change and the articles have to be re-authored one at a time.

How good is LiveChat's AI at resolving tickets?

The structure is the reason for the 6. Agent-facing AI such as Copilot and tag suggestions sits inside LiveChat, while the customer-facing autonomous agent is ChatBot, a separate Text, Inc. product.
I add the two subscriptions together before comparing LiveChat's sticker price against a single-product vendor, because agent assist does not include the piece that resolves a ticket alone.
LiveChat's only published figure is a marketing ceiling of up to 80% of cases solved with AI chatbots. Its own two-billion-chat report carries a CSAT figure nobody else here publishes: chatbot-handled conversations score 64.7% against a 64.2% global average, near enough identical to the human-handled ones.

What channels does LiveChat cover?

Native coverage runs to the website widget with unlimited sites per license, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp Business, Instagram for Business, Apple Messages for Business, SMS via Twilio, Telegram, email through the async Availability feature, and in-chat voice and screen sharing via Snapcall.
Voice is in-chat escalation only, and X, TikTok and LinkedIn are absent from that published list. More than 200 marketplace integrations cover Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce and Wix, listed on the channels page.

What knowledge sources can I train LiveChat on?

LiveChat runs two parallel knowledge systems, and we scored the axis down for it. The LiveChat Knowledge Hub, which powers Copilot and Reply Suggestions, takes websites and PDFs only, capped at 10 files and 3 websites on Team and 30 files and 10 websites on Business.
The autonomous bot's knowledge is much wider, covering websites, PDF, DOCX, TXT, CSV and MD files up to 50MB, editable articles, KnowledgeBase import and Zendesk help center scanning, up to 5,000 sources. Scripted flows take precedence over generative answering, so the bot searches its own structure first.

How secure is LiveChat?

SOC 2 Type I is attested with a stated intention to proceed to Type II, so Type II is not yet in place. GDPR comes with an EU data center option, HIPAA is offered as readiness with a BAA for qualifying Enterprise clients, and PCI-DSS is customer-configurable with automatic card masking in chat.
ISO 27001 is not listed on either security page, and an obsolete Privacy Shield badge is still displayed. LiveChat has opted out of third-party model-training programs with zero data retention from its model provider, while disclosing that it trains small in-house models on customer data for tag suggestions.

How mature is LiveChat?

More than 35,000 companies, 75 million chats a month across 150 countries and 200,000 support representatives. The logo wall includes PayPal, IKEA, Atlassian, McDonald's, Mercedes-Benz, Adobe and Toyota.
None of those logos is evidenced as an AI-feature user, and the named AI case studies skew SMB, so we read the enterprise wall as a measure of scale alone.

How much does LiveChat cost?

LiveChat is bought per agent per month billed annually, with Enterprise quoted custom. The autonomous agent is bought separately, from $19 per user per month billed annually with 10 AI resolutions included, rising to $79 per user per month with 200, after which overage auto-refills in 50-resolution packs at $49.50, or $0.99 per resolution.
A conversation bills once if it ends without the customer asking for more help after the AI's final reply. The 5 is that you cannot see your total price on one page, because there are two products and two meters.

Who is using LiveChat?

GreenState Credit Union reports $6,000 saved from a single implementation and Logical Position a 30% increase in sales, both published on LiveChat's customer stories page.
The Chat Shop, Funded Trading Plus, Sensorem and Touch Support are also published there with AI and chatbot outcomes stated.
Choose LiveChat if:
  • Chat is your primary channel and you want the most polished widget in this set
  • You run several websites, since one license covers unlimited sites
  • You want agent-assist AI in the same workspace as the widget
  • You need a vendor with two decades of operating history behind it
Don't choose LiveChat if:
  • You want one bill, since the autonomous agent is a second subscription
  • You need a full ticketing system without buying HelpDesk by Text as well
  • Your procurement team requires SOC 2 Type II or ISO 27001 today
  • You want AI-first answering and scripted flows will get in the way

Is Customerly a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: The nearest structural twin to Crisp. Chat, inbox, help center and marketing automation in one European product, with the same metered AI arrangement and less scale behind it.
Customerly scores 51/80 and edges tawk.to on the AI resolution tie-break. If Crisp's all-in-one build is the part you actually liked, this is the closest European equivalent I have found.
Customerly's homepage
Customerly's homepage

How does Customerly handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

A real all-in-one suite: live chat, help center, shared inboxes, email, NPS and CSAT surveys, contact management, chatflows and an AI agent, sold as one platform.
Agent assist, called AI Companion, is a separate paid add-on on top of seats. We hold this row to a 7 for that extra line.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to Customerly?

Customerly publishes a dedicated Move From Other Providers collection in its help center, so migration is a documented, supported motion. There is a free trial (short, for a decision this size).
This is a re-platform. You are moving your whole support stack at once.

How good is Customerly's AI at resolving tickets?

Aura answers from curated knowledge, executes AI Missions such as refunds and churn recovery, and escalates to humans with confidence scoring.
Aura also exposes per-reply source tracing and a human review workflow, grading answers as Great, Needs Review or Hallucinated into an AI Effectiveness report. That review loop is rare at this price. I rate it higher than the headline resolution number.

What channels does Customerly cover?

Customerly covers live chat, email, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and in-app mobile through iOS and Android SDKs. There is no voice and no SMS, which is the 6 on this axis and a real constraint if your customers text you.

What knowledge sources can I train Customerly on?

Help center articles, canned responses, chatflow intents, AI Missions and uploaded PDF, DOC, DOCX and TXT documents, with a per-document AI training toggle (handy when a doc is internal-only). Aura is not designed to learn from past conversations, and Customerly's own documentation gives accuracy and privacy as the reasoning.
Customerly's documentation advises against website crawling on accuracy grounds, so improvement comes down to authoring help center articles by hand. If that sounds familiar, it is the same job Crisp gives you.

How secure is Customerly?

Built for GDPR, with an EU AI Act page and a DPA available to every customer. Data residency is the standout: all customer data is stored and processed on AWS infrastructure inside the European Union, specifically Dublin, with backups redundant across EU locations.
In Customerly's own words it does not currently hold SOC 2 or ISO 27001 of its own, inheriting AWS's instead. That combination is strong for an EU buyer and blocking for US enterprise procurement.

How mature is Customerly?

An Italian company with a published customer set in the single digits, no changelog surface at all, and a public roadmap behind a login. There is less public evidence to check here than anywhere else in this post, which is the 5.

How much does Customerly cost?

Seats come with a set number of AI conversation credits included. Extra AI conversations are billed at €0.50 each on demand, or €0.45 each when bought in advance, and credits never expire.
We scored this column on the billing unit: the meter counts every conversation Aura takes part in, answering or executing a task, however many messages follow. There is no way to set an AI usage cap, which their documentation confirms, and an uncapped meter with a nominal included allowance is the 6.

Who is using Customerly?

Fatture in Cloud, a SaaS invoicing platform with more than 600,000 customers, automates 60% of support, with support costs down 83% and CSAT up 20%.
WeShoot, a travel and photography business, resolves 82% of inquiries without a human. Paymo, BRUM and Nibol also appear on the success stories page.
Choose Customerly if:
  • You are an EU business and data residency inside the European Union is a requirement
  • You want the all-in-one build you had on Crisp, from a European vendor
  • You want the AI to execute multi-step actions such as refunds out of the box
  • You want per-reply source tracing and a human review loop over the AI's answers
Don't choose Customerly if:
  • Your procurement team requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001 from the vendor itself
  • You need voice or SMS anywhere in the stack
  • You want the AI to learn from your past conversations
  • You need to cap what the AI can spend in a month

Is tawk.to a good Crisp Chat alternative?

TL;DR: Free forever, unlimited agents, and about ten minutes to swap the widget. The AI is a paid add-on, and everything above the basics is thinner than what you are leaving.
tawk.to scores 51/80 and takes both the setup and the cost criteria outright. If the whole reason you are leaving Crisp is the bill, start here, and read the AI section twice before you commit.
tawk.to's homepage
tawk.to's homepage
On G2, tawk.to scores 4.5/5 from 203 reviews, and AI Assist has no separate profile.
Bachchan J., Director, Computer Software (Small-Business), reports on G2 that the AI agent would be more capable if it could learn from external documentation or knowledge bases, rather than only what is loaded directly into the platform.

How does tawk.to handle a shared inbox and team collaboration?

The free core is broad: an omnichannel inbox, ticketing, a knowledge base, Pipeline and CRM, a form builder, calendar integrations, Chat Pages and Activities.
The platform itself is free with no per-seat charge, though AI Assist is tiered by agent count and billed per property. I think that free platform is the whole argument for this product.

How easy is it to move off Crisp to tawk.to?

The highest setup score in this post, though it covers two separate jobs and conflating them is where people come unstuck. The widget is a JavaScript snippet or a one-click Shopify or WordPress install, and it takes minutes.
AI Assist is a later, metered step with its own build, train, deploy and refine wizard. The crawler needs 24 to 48 hours to re-scan a site, and AI Assist cannot be configured from the mobile apps at all.
So we scored the 9 for the platform swap alone.

How good is tawk.to's AI at resolving tickets?

The lowest AI score on the board. tawk.to publishes no resolution, deflection, containment or automation rate anywhere on its properties, and it ships no in-product analytics that would let you compute one. The only AI reporting documented is credit usage.
When credits run out the agent finishes conversations it is already in and refuses to join new ones (a nasty surprise mid-month).

What channels does tawk.to cover?

The widget plus WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, SMS, email and Instagram, all centralized in one inbox. Response verbosity control does not apply on SMS or Facebook Messenger.
Voice Agents are advertised on the add-ons page as a waitlist you can join.

What knowledge sources can I train tawk.to on?

Seven source types: FAQs, plain text, PDF, CSV or TXT documents, tables, shortcuts, knowledge base articles and websites, with tight caps throughout (255 characters for an FAQ question, 1,000 for an answer).
What it cannot ingest is the decisive part: an external help center, an existing Zendesk, Intercom or Freshdesk knowledge base, past support tickets, images or video. Everything is hand-built inside tawk.to or crawled from a public, server-rendered site.
That is the same limit Crisp has, one notch tighter. It is the first thing I check when a team tells me the AI cannot answer.

How secure is tawk.to?

From its own security page: SHA-256 SSL, data encrypted in transit and at rest, a published sub-processor list across Google Cloud, AWS and Digital Ocean, self-certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, ICO registration and GDPR.
What is not claimed: SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA, PCI, a published penetration test, a trust portal or any data residency choice. Self-certification under a framework is an attestation you write and sign yourself.
For a regulated buyer, that is the hardest constraint in the product.

How mature is tawk.to?

The vendor's own figures run to more than 7 million businesses across 190 or more countries, 1.7 billion people interacting with a tawk.to widget monthly, and over 100,000 active WordPress installs.
Those figures are widget numbers. Of the seventeen stories tawk.to publishes, we count exactly one as an AI story.

How much does tawk.to cost?

The platform is $0 forever with unlimited agents, unlimited chats, no time limit and no card. AI Assist is a separate paid add-on, tiered by agent count and by how many messages it may complete.
The unit is a message completion, so one multi-turn conversation burns several. Add-ons also bill per property, so a second site is a second subscription.

Who is using tawk.to?

gap personnel, a UK staffing firm, is the only AI story in the published set.
Battlefield Sports is a live chat story, as are Stoneacre Motor Group, Pyle USA, Heal Navigator and Ranger Guard on the stories page.
Choose tawk.to if:
  • Your budget for a support platform is zero and you need one this week
  • You have more agents than a per-seat plan can justify
  • You want the widget swapped and running today, with AI as a later decision
  • Your knowledge is small enough to hand-build inside the product
Don't choose tawk.to if:
  • You need to measure what the AI is resolving, since there is no analytics surface for it
  • You want the AI to read your existing help center or past tickets
  • Your procurement team asks for SOC 2, ISO 27001 or a trust portal
  • You run several websites, because the AI add-on bills per property

What do these Crisp Chat alternatives actually cost at 3,000 conversations a month?

TL;DR: At 3,000 AI-handled conversations a month, per-outcome pricing and per-seat-plus-AI pricing land in very different places from a per-ticket rate, and the gap is an order of magnitude.
The model below assumes 3,000 AI-handled conversations a month, 8 agents, a 50% resolution rate where the vendor bills per resolution, and annual billing where a discount exists. Prices are US list.
Video preview
I Let AI Agents Resolve 10,000 Support Tickets, Here's How Much It Cost
Vendor
Pricing model
Monthly at 3,000 conversations
Notes
Crisp (Hugo AI)
Workspace plan plus AI credits priced in dollars
~$223 to $350
Billed monthly. Bill does not fall when the AI fails, and Hugo stops when credits run out. Essentials is the cheapest path in, while the full AI suite sits on Plus.
tawk.to
Free platform, AI metered in message completions
Not derivable
Billed monthly. The platform itself is free. AI Assist meters message completions rather than conversations, and tawk.to publishes no ratio between the two, so a 3,000-conversation bill cannot be put on the same basis as the other rows. Billed per property, so a second site is a second subscription.
My AskAI
From $0.10 per ticket
$439
Billed monthly. Pro at $199 includes 1,000 credits, then 2,000 more at $0.12, which is $240. Layers onto a helpdesk you pay for separately.
Help Scout
Per user plus $0.75 per AI resolution
$1,293
Billed annually. Eight entry-plan seats at $21 billed annually is $168, plus 1,500 resolutions at $0.75, which is $1,125. Bill rises as the AI improves.
Freshdesk
Per seat plus $0.49 per Freddy session
$1,377
Billed annually. Eight Growth seats at $19 billed annually is $152, and the first 500 sessions are included in the plan. The remaining 2,500 sell in $49 blocks of 100, which is $1,225.
Customerly
Per seat plus €0.50 per AI conversation
~$127 plus €1,495
Billed annually. Eight entry-plan seats at $19, billed annually at ten months for twelve, plus 2,990 metered conversations. The included credits sit on the account rather than on each seat. Plans are priced in dollars and the meter in euros, and this row uses the on-demand rate, which falls to €0.45 bought in advance.
LiveChat + ChatBot
Two subscriptions plus $0.99 per resolution
$1,758
Billed annually. Eight LiveChat Team-plan seats at $49 billed annually, against $59 billed monthly, is $392, plus one ChatBot Growth-plan builder seat at $79 is $471. ChatBot does not publish a separate annual rate for that seat, so it stays at its one published price. Add 200 included resolutions, then 1,300 at $0.99 at the model's 50% resolution assumption.
Intercom
Per seat plus $0.99 per outcome
$2,165
Billed annually. Eight Advanced-plan seats at $85 billed annually, against $99 billed monthly, is $680, plus 1,500 outcomes at $0.99 is $1,485. Standalone Fin on another helpdesk removes the seat cost, leaving roughly $1,485.
Tidio
Base plan plus per-Lyro-conversation packs
Above the self-serve ladder
Billed annually. Lyro packs cap at 1,000 conversations a month, so 3,000 exceeds the self-serve ladder and the usage component is not published.
At this volume the pricing model decides the bill far more than the sticker price does. Per-outcome and per-resolution vendors put the meter on the thing you want more of, so Intercom, LiveChat and Help Scout all get more expensive as their AI improves.
Per-session and per-conversation vendors, meaning Freshdesk and Customerly, charge whether the AI succeeds or fails, so a bad month costs the same as a good one. tawk.to meters something smaller again, a single message completion, so one conversation burns several. A per-ticket rate bills the same at 40% resolution and at 80%, so the cost per resolved ticket falls as the agent gets better.
The crossover for the per-resolution models arrives early, and after it the meter dominates every other line on the invoice.
Two things to carry into a procurement conversation. First, most of these are helpdesks with AI attached, while My AskAI and standalone Fin are AI layers on top of a helpdesk you already pay for. Compare the AI charge against the AI charge, and treat the seats as common to both sides.
Second, a variable bill is a blocker above mid-market. A finance team that cannot forecast the line will cap it, and a capped AI agent stops answering mid-month. To model your own numbers, our ROI calculator does this per helpdesk.

Which Crisp Chat alternative is best?

TL;DR: Intercom, for most teams who can absorb the price, because it wins the scoreboard on merit. If you are leaving Crisp over the bill, Freshdesk. If you are leaving over the AI, move to a mainstream helpdesk and put a dedicated AI layer on top.
Intercom is the top pick. It takes 66 out of 80 and wins six of the eight criteria, and it is the only product here that gives you a category-leading inbox, a category-leading AI agent and a compliance grid a regulated buyer can sign off, all from one vendor.
The cost is the real objection and it does not go away. At $0.99 per outcome on top of seats it is the most expensive arrangement in this post, and it gets worse as volume climbs.
If cost is the reason you are leaving Crisp, my pick is Freshdesk at 62 out of 80. The AI agent is included on the $19-per-agent-per-month entry plan billed annually, with the first 500 sessions included and $49 per 100 after that.
For a small team that mostly answers email and wants a docs site alongside the inbox, Help Scout. For the closest thing to the Crisp build you already know, Tidio. For a European buyer who needs data inside the EU in one all-in-one product, Customerly.
For a team with no budget at all, tawk.to, on the understanding that its AI is the weakest here and there is no way to measure what it resolves. For a chat-first team that wants the most polished widget and can live with a second subscription for the AI, LiveChat.
If what you are actually leaving over is answer quality, I would still start with the helpdesk. Move to Intercom, Zendesk, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot for the inbox, then put a dedicated AI layer on top of it.
That is where we come in, from $0.10 a ticket, with a 30-day free trial that unlocks every feature on unlimited tickets and needs no card. Either way, that route starts with the helpdesk move.

What are the pros and cons of Crisp Chat?

Pros

  • One product for the whole support surface: the chat widget, the shared inbox, the help center and Hugo all arrive together on an SMB budget, and that single-vendor build is the part hardest to replace when you leave.
  • A documented way in: Crisp's own knowledge base importer pulls articles from Freshdesk, Front, Gorgias, GrooveHQ, Help Scout, HubSpot, Intercom, LiveAgent and Zendesk, so arriving is a supported motion rather than a rebuild.
  • Hugo's boundaries are written down: the help center spells out what the agent trains on and what it will never touch, so you can check the constraint before you build a support operation on top of it.

Cons

  • The AI never reads your inbox: Crisp's help center states that Hugo is not trained on conversations from your inbox and does not learn from resolved conversations over time, so every improvement is a Q&A snippet or an article somebody has to write by hand.
  • The archive is hard to take with you: contacts come out as a CSV from the Essentials plan and above, capped at 200,000 records, while conversation data has no native CSV export from the dashboard at all.

FAQs

What are the best alternatives to Crisp for AI customer support?
Intercom leads at 66 out of 80, followed by Freshdesk at 62 and Help Scout at 60. Intercom publishes the highest AI resolution rate of the three and carries the broadest channel and compliance coverage, while Freshdesk gets you a working AI agent on a $19 entry plan.
If the AI is your only complaint, the stronger route is a mainstream helpdesk with a dedicated AI layer over the top.
Is there a Crisp alternative that works with my existing helpdesk?
Intercom is the one platform vendor here that will run its AI on somebody else's helpdesk. Fin deploys standalone onto Freshdesk, Salesforce Service Cloud and HubSpot Service Hub, or over a generic API, billing per outcome with no seat cost.
We work with Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot. None of these routes works with Crisp.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Crisp Chat with better AI?
Freshdesk is the closest fit: $19 per agent per month billed annually, an AI agent included from the entry plan, and the first 500 sessions included before $49 per 100 sessions applies.
tawk.to is cheaper still, since the platform is free forever with unlimited agents. Its AI Assist add-on is the weakest AI in this post, though, and it publishes no resolution rate at all.
Who are Crisp's competitors?
The eight in this post are the ones a Crisp team realistically moves to: Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Tidio, LiveChat, Customerly and tawk.to as platform replacements, plus My AskAI as an AI layer that installs into a mainstream helpdesk.
Zendesk, Gorgias, Zoho Desk, Hiver, Missive and Front compete with Crisp too, and they are out of the scoring for the reasons above.
Can I keep Crisp and add a better AI agent on top?
Not with the products in this post. Every alternative reviewed here is a platform you move to, and we do not integrate with Crisp, so we are not an option for a team that intends to stay.
If keeping Crisp is a firm requirement, your realistic route is improving what Hugo can answer from. That means writing more knowledge base articles and Q&A snippets by hand, since Hugo will not learn from your inbox on its own.
Do any Crisp alternatives have a free plan?
tawk.to's platform is free forever with unlimited agents, unlimited chats and no card, with AI Assist sold separately as a paid add-on billed per property.
Tidio has a free platform tier too, so you can run the widget and the inbox without paying.
