My AskAI vs Crisp AI agent: Features, Pricing, and Results (2026)
Crisp bundles Hugo AI into a $0-$295/mo platform. My AskAI is a $0.10/ticket agent for the helpdesk you already run. See the full My AskAI vs Crisp breakdown.
Mike is an experienced Product Manager who focuses on all the “non-development” areas of My AskAI, from finance and customer success to product design, copywriting, testing and more.
Crisp is an all-in-one livechat and helpdesk platform with its Hugo AI agent bundled in; My AskAI is a dedicated AI agent that plugs into the helpdesk you already run (or runs as a standalone website widget). Pick Crisp if you're an early-stage team with no helpdesk that wants one cheap all-in-one inbox plus light AI. Pick My AskAI if you already have a helpdesk, or plan to grow into one, and want a cheaper, better-trained AI agent you won't lose when you switch platforms.
Crisp's Hugo runs about $0.05-$0.10 per conversation inside a $0-$295/mo platform. My AskAI is $0.10 per ticket on top of the helpdesk you already use.
The per-message prices are close. The gap is what happens to your AI when you outgrow the platform it lives in.
Quick disclosure before we get into it: I'm Mike, co-founder of My AskAI, and we ran Crisp ourselves for a while in the early days before we moved to Intercom. So I've seen this one from both sides, and Crisp earns real credit here.
What AI can I use for customer support: Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Crisp gives you Hugo, an AI agent bundled into its own livechat and helpdesk platform. My AskAI is a standalone AI agent that runs inside your existing helpdesk (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias, HubSpot) or as a website widget, so you don't switch platforms to get it.
Hugo is Crisp's autonomous AI agent, the newest layer in a wider automation stack. It sits alongside Crisp's older "Magic" rules and a Copilot for agents, and it comes folded into the paid plans rather than sold on its own. There's no standalone Hugo you can buy; to switch the AI on, you take on Crisp's whole product, its inbox, its CRM, the lot.
Crisp's AI Automations, where Hugo's MagicReply answer scenario is built
My AskAI works the other way round. We're the AI layer that runs inside the helpdesk you already have, or as a widget on your own website. We plug into Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias and HubSpot, and we're never sold as a helpdesk replacement.
Crisp tucks the AI inside a platform you'd take on wholesale; My AskAI is the AI agent for whatever platform you're already running. That difference shows up everywhere from setup to lock-in.
How does an AI customer service agent work in each?
⚡
TL;DR: Both ingest your knowledge and answer autonomously, escalating to a human when unsure. The difference is where they live: Hugo answers only inside Crisp's own inbox and channels, while My AskAI answers inside whichever helpdesk you already use, or your own site widget.
Under the hood the two work in a similar way. You connect your knowledge, the AI learns from it, and it answers customer questions on its own, handing off to a person when it hits something it can't confidently deal with. Neither is a decision-tree chatbot; both are real AI agents.
The two differ on the surface they answer in. Hugo answers inside Crisp, across web chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram and email.
It has no native phone or voice channel (you'd bolt that on through a third party like Aircall). We don't have a voice product today either, so that's parity all round.
My AskAI answers inside your existing helpdesk's own chat, messaging and email channels, or in our widget. When the AI can't answer, detects a frustrated customer, or hits a topic you've told it to escalate, it hands over to a human and writes a summary of the conversation as an internal note, so your agent picks up without making the customer repeat themselves.
What are the different ways I can use an AI agent?
⚡
TL;DR: Both do direct customer replies and a behind-the-scenes copilot for agents. My AskAI adds an Internal Notes mode that drafts every reply as a private note, so you can run it silently alongside your current setup before it ever talks to a customer.
Direct replies
This is the main event for both. Hugo replies to customers directly in Crisp's chat and email; My AskAI replies to customers directly inside your helpdesk or widget. In both cases the AI is the first line, answering the repetitive tier-one questions on its own.
Copilot replies
Both also have a copilot mode that helps your human agents behind the scenes. Crisp's Copilot lives in the inbox sidebar and, by design, never writes to the customer. My AskAI's Copilot does the same job, and we also have a free Chrome Extension version that works inside any of our integrated helpdesks with no extra seat charge.
Internal note replies
This is the mode Crisp can't match. It's where I'd start. My AskAI can draft an answer to every ticket as a private internal note the customer never sees, so you can run it beside whatever you do now and judge the quality on your real tickets before you flip it live.
My AskAI drafting a reply as a private Internal Note inside Intercom
Crisp has no equivalent "draft as a note alongside your existing setup" mode, because there is no existing setup for it to sit next to. Crisp is the helpdesk, so there's nothing to shadow.
Which is easier to setup, Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Crisp's Hugo is native so there's nothing to connect, while My AskAI adds a roughly 10-minute connect step (sign up, connect knowledge, install the helpdesk app) but no platform migration. Call it a tie: Crisp wins on nothing-to-plug-in, My AskAI on no-switch.
I'll give Crisp the nod here on raw simplicity. Because Hugo is native, there's nothing to connect. You configure the agent's identity and escalation rules, train it on your snippets, web pages, files and help center, test it in the Playground and switch it on, all inside Crisp.
Word-on-the-street is that getting Hugo to a good level can take weeks of tuning, and some people find it fiddly at first. And because Hugo is metered, the credits you spend testing during the trial count against your usage, so the trial isn't a free-for-all.
My AskAI adds a small step that Crisp doesn't: you sign up (with a business email), connect your knowledge, and install our app in your helpdesk's marketplace. That's about 10 minutes, and off pure knowledge you can be live within minutes to hours. No developer is needed for a standard setup, and there's no platform migration, you keep the helpdesk you've got.
Neither is hard. Crisp saves you a connect step; we save you from moving platforms. That nets out to a tie.
How do My AskAI and Crisp differ in what they can be trained on?
⚡
TL;DR: Both train on your help center, snippets, web pages and files. The decisive gap: Crisp deliberately does not use past tickets to answer customers, while My AskAI trains on up to 5,000 historic tickets and connects to more sources like Notion, Confluence, Drive, SharePoint, Salesforce and Shopify.
'Static' content
On the basics the two overlap. Both learn from a help center, custom answers or snippets, public web pages and uploaded files. If your knowledge is a clean help center, either will get going.
Crisp's AI Data Hub for training Hugo on knowledge sources
Crisp's side carries a couple of practical limits. Files are TXT, CSV and PDF only, and the counts are tiered (Mini 1 file, Essentials 5, Plus 100; domains capped 1 / 3 / 10).
You import and refresh sources one at a time, snippets cap at 200 characters for the question and 4,000 for the answer, and there's a reported bug where long PDFs get truncated without warning. You can see the current rules in Crisp's train-Hugo docs.
The big one is past tickets. Crisp is explicit that Hugo does not learn from your previous customer conversations when replying to customers; those stay private and only inform agent-facing Copilot suggestions.
My AskAI takes the opposite stance: we train on up to 5,000 of your historic tickets by default (more on request), auto-drafting knowledge articles from them for you to review. If you don't have a polished help center yet, that's often how you get a useful agent from a standing start, by learning from how your team has answered.
We also connect to a wider set of knowledge sources: Google Drive, Notion, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, Confluence, Salesforce (for knowledge pages), Shopify, plus the Zendesk, Intercom and Freshdesk help centers, and you can mark any source internal-only.
'Dynamic' content
For live data, Crisp uses MCP integrations (on the Plus plan) to reach systems like Shopify, WooCommerce and Stripe, and it has native ecommerce connectors too. That's a real strength for a store on those tools. My AskAI reaches live data through Tasks and Tools plus our User Data API, with a pre-built Shopify integration for product, order and customer lookups.

Which has better answer quality, Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Neither publishes an independent benchmark, so treat both vendors' numbers with a pinch of salt. Crisp markets "up to 60%" resolution; My AskAI leans on training from real tickets and full answer traceability, and the field as a whole sits around 70%.
Neither of us has a Forrester or Gartner benchmark to wave around. Crisp markets Hugo as resolving "up to 60%" of conversations, and its published customer stories tend to cluster in the 40-60% range. My AskAI's own numbers are, well, our own too, so take both sets with a grain of salt.
A vendor-vs-vendor percentage duel won't tell you much. Resolution rates aren't apples-to-apples across tools, because each defines the metric differently and it swings with your industry and ticket mix.
For context on where the market actually sits, our own AI resolution-rate benchmarks, drawn from around 55 vendors and 195 rated deployments, put the field median near 70%. Read it as the rough neighborhood you'll land in, the kind of range to expect rather than a scoreboard for ranking two vendors. And note that a tool reporting "resolution" often looks about 12 points higher than one reporting "automation" purely because of how the words are defined.
Spectrum of AI support resolution rates showing the field's 25th percentile at 56%, a median near 70%, and the 75th percentile at 80%.
We train on your actual resolved tickets, which Crisp doesn't, and real tickets are where the awkward wording lives.
When you want to know why the AI said something, you can ask Echo why the agent gave any answer and which knowledge source it used. That traceability answers the "I don't trust what it's telling people" worry.
On how we count resolution: we treat a conversation as resolved when the AI handled it without escalating. That claim holds up because escalation is easy, the customer can ask for a person any number of ways, so a conversation that didn't need one is a fair signal.
Which AI agent is easier to improve over time: Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Crisp's improvement path is manual: review the answers that missed, tune snippets and workflows week by week. My AskAI's Self-Learning drafts new knowledge automatically by comparing its replies to your agents' actual replies, so the knowledge base largely maintains itself.
With Crisp, improving Hugo is hands-on. You review the conversations where it didn't do well, adjust your snippets, tweak the confidence slider and build out workflow blocks. Reviewers note the workflow path can get involved and the docs are thinner than you'd like, so it's real ongoing work; it won't tend itself.
My AskAI's Self-Learning is built to take that load off you. On any ticket the AI handed over, it compares its own draft to what the human agent sent, and drafts a new knowledge article to close the difference, ready for you to approve. There's a repeat-threshold guard so it doesn't over-correct on a single one-off reply.

Both need a human in the loop, but only My AskAI does the drafting for you.
Which has more features, Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Crisp has the broader platform surface: livechat, an omnichannel inbox, co-browse, a site-search overlay and a CRM. My AskAI has the deeper AI-agent surface: Tasks and Tools, guidance, multibrand, tagging and inspect, without asking you to adopt a new platform.
I'll hand Crisp this category. As a whole platform it does more things than an AI agent does.
You get livechat, an omnichannel inbox spanning WhatsApp, Instagram, SMS and more, co-browsing, an AI site-search overlay, a CRM and a big library of integrations. If you want one product that is your entire front-of-house, that breadth is the appeal.
The catch is that a lot of Crisp's best AI features are gated to the Plus plan at $295/mo: the multilingual AI, the writing assistant, the MCP server, the site-search overlay, the spam filter, auto-tagging and conversation summaries all sit up there.
My AskAI puts its depth into the AI agent itself. You get Tasks and Tools for actions like refunds and order lookups, natural-language Guidance, multibrand agents, per-ticket tagging, and Echo and Inspect for traceability. Insights scores every one of your conversations for CSAT where most tools only sample a slice, and all of it runs inside the helpdesk you already have.

Is it easy to customize My AskAI and Crisp?
⚡
TL;DR: Both let you set persona, tone and system prompts. My AskAI's Guidance gives natural-language control over style, clarification and forced-handover rules; Crisp uses a per-block confidence slider plus workflow blocks, which reviewers say gets fiddly.
On the surface these are close. Crisp lets you write custom system prompts, set a brand tone in Hugo's settings, and dial in a confidence and answer-quality slider to hold back low-confidence replies. Beyond that, deeper behavior comes from workflow blocks, which is where reviewers say it tips from a few settings into real configuration work.
My AskAI leans on Guidance, which is plain-English control in three flavors: Communication and Style, Context and Clarification, and Handover and Escalation. You write a short rule ("if a customer asks about refunds over $200, hand to a human") and the agent follows it, no block-building required. For most teams that natural-language approach is quicker to get right and easier to keep tidy, so we edge this one.
What about vendor lock-in?
⚡
TL;DR: This is the biggest structural difference between the two: Crisp's Hugo only exists inside Crisp, so leave the platform and all your AI training is stranded. My AskAI's trained agent moves across every helpdesk it supports, so switching helpdesks doesn't mean rebuilding your AI.
Hugo only exists inside Crisp. It's all-or-nothing: you can't run Crisp's AI on top of an existing Zendesk or Intercom deployment, and if you ever leave Crisp, every hour you put into training stays behind with the platform.
Contrast showing Crisp's AI is locked to its platform while My AskAI's trained agent is portable across five helpdesks.
This is exactly the wall we hit ourselves. We used Crisp for a while when we were early, and as a free livechat on your site it makes real sense. But as the business matured the features started to feel limited, so we moved to Intercom, and that's the moment bundled AI hurts: you can't take your AI agent with you, so you lose all that work you put into it.
My AskAI is built so that never happens. The trained agent, the custom answers, the guidance and the tasks all move across the five helpdesks we support (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias and HubSpot).
You typically run it in one helpdesk at a time, but if you switch, the AI comes with you; you're not starting from scratch. When your platform choice and your AI investment aren't chained together, changing your mind gets a lot cheaper.
Does Crisp or My AskAI have any other AI features?
⚡
TL;DR: Crisp's extras skew to the platform: an AI site-search overlay, a spam filter, a writing assistant and conversation summaries, most of them Plus-only. My AskAI's extras skew to support operations: per-ticket tagging, live agent translation and image reading.
Tagging
My AskAI auto-tags tickets across up to three custom fields, inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk and Freshchat. It works off your existing helpdesk tags, expanding each into a full definition you can edit, and classifies each incoming message by meaning.
My AskAI auto-tagging tickets across custom fields in your helpdesk
It also doubles as a spend-control lever: because tagging is billed separately at $0.05 per attribute per ticket, you can route a class of tickets you don't want the AI to answer to a human and pay only the tag. Crisp has its own auto-tagging, gated to the Plus plan.
Agent translation
Crisp handles languages well, with LiveTranslate across 50+ languages via Microsoft Translator and a Multilingual AI on the Plus plan. My AskAI supports 95 languages auto-detected per message, plus a Live Translation add-on that translates a handed-over conversation into your agent's language and their reply back again.
Help center quick answers
Crisp's AI Overlay is a nice touch here: a site-search box that answers common questions before they ever become a ticket, which it markets as deflecting 30-50% of simple requests. It's the kind of platform-side feature that comes from Crisp owning the whole front end.
Crisp wins this category outright. Its writing assistant, site-search overlay and co-browse are more than we offer, and if those matter to you that's a fair reason to lean Crisp, just watch which ones sit behind the $295 Plus plan.
What about security, is Crisp more secure than My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant; Crisp is strongly GDPR-compliant with EU-only data residency and even a self-hosted EU model, but it isn't SOC 2 audited. Pick on which matters more to your reviewer: a SOC 2 report or EU data residency.
Both take security seriously; they optimize for different boxes on the checklist. My AskAI is SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit, and your data is never used to train models and lives in isolated containers per customer. You can pull the details from our trust portal.
Crisp's strength is Europe. It's a French company with strong GDPR alignment, EU-only data residency (messaging servers in the Netherlands, plugin servers in Germany), and it even runs a self-hosted proprietary model in Paris for maximum data isolation, which you can read about in Crisp's security practices. It comes up short of us on formal audit: by its own compliance docs Crisp is not SOC 2 audited, and it carries no ISO 27001.
The read here is a clean split. If your security review hinges on a SOC 2 Type II report, we've got it and Crisp doesn't.
If it hinges on EU data residency or model choice, that's Crisp's home turf. Pick on the one your reviewer asks for.
Because "Crisp" is a common name, third-party risk sites occasionally attach another company's ISO certificates to Crisp the chat platform. Check the certifications against Crisp's own trust documentation; a scraper's summary can get it wrong.
Which costs more, Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: For a greenfield team with no helpdesk, Crisp is cheaper and it's not close: a $0-$295/mo platform with Hugo at about $0.05-$0.10 per conversation; for a team already running a helpdesk, My AskAI at $0.10/ticket adds AI without paying for a second platform. Compare the whole stack you'd pay for, well beyond the per-message rate.
The pricing model
Crisp charges a flat plan per workspace, priced Free / Mini $45 / Essentials $95 / Plus $295 per month, with seats tiered and capped (2 / 4 / 10 / 20) and $10 per extra agent. Hugo is metered on top, per conversation, at roughly $0.05-$0.10.
Crisp pricing plans: Free, Mini $45, Essentials $95 and Plus $295 per month
You buy credits as a dollar value ($5, $25 or $75, which map to about 90, 450 and 1,350 conversations), Hugo stops when the credit runs out unless you turn on pay-as-you-go, and the credits reset monthly and are consumed during the trial. Workflows don't burn credits. The mechanics are laid out in Crisp's Hugo billing docs.
My AskAI charges $0.10 for every ticket, whether or not it resolves. Pro is $199/mo for 1,000 credits and Scale is $499/mo for 2,000 credits, with overage at $0.10-$0.12 a credit and Enterprise from $999.
In practice every two AI chat replies is one credit (about $0.10 per chat ticket; email works out around $0.15). Add-ons are metered only when used: tagging at $0.05, tools at $0.02, tasks at $0.02 a step, live translation at $0.05, image reading at $0.02.
I Let AI Agents Resolve 10,000 Support Tickets, Here's How Much It Cost
The "your bill rises as the AI gets better" critique aimed at per-resolution pricing doesn't apply to either of us. Crisp is credit-metered and we're per-ticket, so both bills follow how much you use; neither is tied to how often the AI succeeds.
You can also prove it before you pay. My AskAI's free trial is 30 days, all features unlocked, unlimited tickets, no card, so you can run it on your real tickets first (new customers are often offered 50% off the first three months). Crisp's trial is 14 days with no card plus a permanent free plan, with the one wrinkle that Hugo credits are spent as you test.
The overall cost
The answer depends on whether you already have a helpdesk.
Cost callout: Crisp is $0 to $295 a month platform plus $0.05 to $0.10 per Hugo conversation; My AskAI is $0.10 per ticket on your existing helpdesk.
If you're a greenfield team with nothing yet and low volume, Crisp is cheaper, and it's not close. A $0-$95/mo Crisp plan bundles your inbox and light AI into one bill, and Hugo at $0.05-$0.10 a conversation keeps the AI cheap at small scale. We'd still need you to have a helpdesk or run our widget, so for a team starting from zero, Crisp's single all-in-one bill wins.
If you already run a helpdesk (or you're heading that way), the math flips. My AskAI adds AI at $0.10/ticket on top of the helpdesk you keep, with no second platform to buy or migrate onto.
Choosing Crisp in that situation means paying for and switching to an entire second platform just to get its AI, which is a much bigger cost than the per-conversation rate suggests. So the number that decides it is the whole stack you'd pay for, well beyond the sticker price on the AI.
Conclusion - should I choose Crisp or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: For an early-stage team with no helpdesk, Crisp's cheap all-in-one bundle wins. For anyone who already has a helpdesk, or will grow into one, My AskAI gives a better-trained, portable AI agent you won't lose when you move platforms.
If you have no helpdesk today and want one cheap inbox with light AI, Crisp is the better call, even with my obvious skin in the game. If you already run a helpdesk, or you can see yourself outgrowing an all-in-one, My AskAI is the safer long-term bet because your AI investment isn't chained to one platform.

My AskAI (SOC 2 Type II); Crisp wins EU residency
Crisp wins where being a whole platform pays off: more features, cheaper for a team that owns nothing yet, and broader platform-side AI extras.
My AskAI wins on the AI-agent fundamentals: it trains on your real tickets, it improves itself, and it keeps your work when you change platforms. Keeping your training when you switch platforms is what decides the most over the long run.
Ranking of My AskAI's scoring lead over Crisp: lock-in +5, training and integrations +3, improving over time +3, modes +2, answer quality +1, customization +1, security +1.
Choose Crisp if:
You have no helpdesk yet and want one cheap all-in-one inbox plus light AI.
You're an EU or francophone SMB that values EU data residency and the option of an EU-hosted model.
Your channel mix is web chat, WhatsApp, email and Shopify, and Crisp covers all of it in one place.
Your support volume is low and your FAQ is fairly simple.
But if you already run a helpdesk, or you can see yourself growing into one, you'll get a better-trained, more portable AI agent with My AskAI, one that trains on your past tickets, improves itself, and moves with you if you ever switch platforms.
If Crisp's feature limits are what pushed you to look, it's worth seeing where a more mature helpdesk lands you. FAQs
Can My AskAI fully replace Crisp?
Not exactly, because they're two different things. My AskAI is the AI layer that runs inside your existing helpdesk or as a website widget, while Crisp is a whole platform, inbox, CRM and AI together.
If what you want is to swap Crisp's Hugo for a better-trained AI while keeping Crisp itself, you can't; Hugo is bundled into Crisp and My AskAI doesn't integrate with Crisp. If you're open to using a different helpdesk (or our widget), then yes, My AskAI gives you the AI agent, and you bring or keep your own front end.
What can each AI agent be trained on?
Both train on your help center, custom answers or snippets, web pages and files. The difference is that My AskAI also trains on up to 5,000 of your historic tickets and connects to more knowledge sources (Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, SharePoint, Salesforce knowledge pages and Shopify), whereas Crisp does not use past customer conversations to answer customers. Both can reach live data: My AskAI through Tasks, Tools and its User Data API, and Crisp through MCP integrations on the Plus plan.
How long does setup take and do we need developers?
Crisp is native, so there's nothing to connect; you configure and train Hugo inside the platform, though reviewers note it can take weeks of tuning to get good, and testing burns Hugo credits during the trial. My AskAI adds about a 10-minute connect step (sign up, connect knowledge, install the helpdesk app) and you can be live within minutes to hours off your knowledge. Neither needs a developer for a standard setup; you'd only involve one for custom API work.
How do My AskAI vs Crisp pricing models differ, and what might we actually pay?
Crisp is a flat platform plan ($0-$295/mo per workspace) with Hugo metered on top at about $0.05-$0.10 per conversation; My AskAI is a flat per-ticket $0.10 on plans starting at $199/mo. The right choice depends on whether you already have a helpdesk, because that decides whether Crisp is one bill or a second platform.

Can they handle multilingual support and agent translation?
Yes on both, with different reach. Crisp's chatbox handles 60+ interface languages, Hugo covers 85+, and LiveTranslate does live agent translation across 50+ languages (with a Multilingual AI on the Plus plan). My AskAI supports 95 languages auto-detected per message, plus a Live Translation add-on that translates handed-over conversations into your agent's language and back.
How do they compare on security and compliance?
My AskAI is SOC 2 Type II and GDPR compliant, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. Crisp is GDPR-compliant with EU-only data residency and an optional EU-hosted model, but it isn't SOC 2 audited and carries no ISO 27001. If a SOC 2 report is what your reviewer needs, that points to My AskAI; if EU data residency is the priority, Crisp has the edge there.
Will I be locked in to one platform?
With Crisp, yes, because Hugo only exists inside Crisp; leave the platform and you lose the AI training that lived in it. With My AskAI you're not locked in the same way: the trained agent, custom answers, guidance and tasks all move across the helpdesks we support (Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias and HubSpot), so switching helpdesk doesn't mean rebuilding your AI. This is the single biggest structural difference between the two.
Does each one offer a free trial?
Both do. My AskAI's is 30 days with every feature unlocked, unlimited tickets and no card, so you can test on your real volume without watching a meter. Crisp's is 14 days with no card plus a permanent free plan, with the caveat that the Hugo credits you spend while testing count against your usage.
