An FAQ chatbot is an AI agent that answers your customers' common, repeat questions from your own help content, in chat, in the help center or by email, and hands over to a person when it can't help. This post scores 7 of them on eight criteria, including monthly cost at 2,000 tickets. My AskAI leads on 71 of a possible 80, Intercom Fin is second on 65, and Chatbase is third on 62, with the lowest bill we modeled at about $150 a month.
Most support teams answer the same handful of questions every day: where is my order, how do I reset this, what is your returns policy, can I change my delivery address. The answers are already in your help center, and your team still types them out by hand, one ticket at a time. An FAQ chatbot takes those questions off your team, answering customers straight from that same help content and passing the rest to a person.
FAQ chatbots differ in where they answer your customers, what they do when the answer isn't in your FAQ, and what they cost once you're past a free trial and into real volume.
I'm Mike, co-founder of My AskAI. We help 200+ ecommerce and SaaS businesses run AI customer service inside the helpdesk they already use, and My AskAI is one of the seven tools below.
Answering repeat questions by hand has a cost you can work out. Take 2,000 tickets a month at five minutes each, even with AI helping your team draft replies, and price your team's time at $0.40 a minute with overheads included. That's $2.00 a ticket and $4,000 a month before an AI agent answers anything.
I've priced all seven tools at that same 2,000 tickets, so you can set every bill against the $4,000 your team costs today. One of our customers, Edel Optics, has AI answering its FAQs on orders, cancellations, refunds and returns straight from its Zendesk help center.
⚡
My AskAI tops the scoreboard for answering customers' repeat questions, at $355 a month for 2,000 tickets on its Pro plan, and each of the other six suits a particular kind of team.
  • My AskAI (best for answering FAQs inside the helpdesk you already run) - Gives your exact approved wording on the questions you set and hands over when a customer asks or gets frustrated. It answers in your helpdesk's chat and email and in its own widget.
  • Intercom Fin (best for teams already running Intercom) - Answers in the Messenger, email and WhatsApp and passes the whole conversation to your team. Each outcome costs $0.99, so the bill grows as it answers more.
  • Chatbase (best for a low-cost website chatbot) - About $150 a month here, with Q&A pairs for fixed answers. Handover turns the chat into a ticket in another tool.
  • eesel AI (best for an AI layer on Zendesk or Freshdesk) - Answers tickets and live chat, and its reports show where it got stuck. A credit bundle means you pay for 2,500 credits to cover 2,000.
  • Zendesk AI agents (best for Zendesk teams who want AI answers in help-center search) - Answers inside your Zendesk help-center search. Per-resolution charges make it the most expensive of the priced tools at this volume.
  • Fini (best for a rollout with implementation included, inside Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias) - No per-seat fees. Answering in several languages is listed on its Scale plan.
  • Tidio (Lyro) (best for a small team living in Tidio's chat) - Quick to set up on your FAQ and website. Self-serve Lyro stops at 1,000 AI conversations a month, and Plus starts at $300 a month plus usage.

What does an FAQ chatbot actually need to do for your customers?

⚡
TL;DR: Five jobs: answer where customers already ask, understand the question and the follow-up, give your exact wording on the answers that can't change, get the customer to a person when the FAQ runs out, and show you which questions it took off the team. Five of the seven tools here do the first job fully, six do the second and three give your exact approved wording.
For a customer who wants an answer without writing in, an FAQ chatbot has five jobs to do. Here's what I scored every tool against, and what each one costs you when a tool can't manage it.
The five jobs of an FAQ chatbot: answer where customers ask, understand the question and the follow-up, give your exact wording, get the customer to a person, and show which questions it took off the team.
The five jobs of an FAQ chatbot: answer where customers ask, understand the question and the follow-up, give your exact wording, get the customer to a person, and show which questions it took off the team.

1. It answers customers where they already ask

Your customers ask in different places. Some open the chat on your website, some search the help center, and plenty just send an email, often late in the evening after your team has logged off.
A tool that answers in one widget leaves everyone who searches the help center or writes in by email with your team. So the first thing I check is which of those places the AI answers on the plan you'd pay for.

2. It understands the question however it's asked, including the follow-up

Older chatbots matched keywords against a fixed list, so "where's my stuff" got a sorry-I-didn't-understand and a customer who wrote in anyway.
An FAQ chatbot worth using reads the customer's own words, answers the follow-up in the same conversation, and replies in the customer's language. When a tool falls short here, customers get a list of article links instead of an answer, and your team gets the ticket regardless. In a demo I type the question the way a tired customer would, typos and all.

3. It gives your exact approved answer when the wording can't change

Your returns window, your prices, anything with legal wording and your top ten questions need to go out in the words your team approved, every time.
So your support team, with no developer involved, needs to be able to set a fixed answer for a set question. Without it, a returns policy gets explained three slightly different ways to three customers, and fixing one answer means rewriting a help article.

4. It gets the customer to a person when the FAQ runs out

Sooner or later a customer asks something your FAQ doesn't cover. They need an obvious way to a person when they ask for one, when the AI can't answer, or when they're getting frustrated.
The conversation should go with them, so nobody asks them to explain it all again, and the AI should never loop the same answer back. Our human handoff comparison goes deeper on how each tool hands over.

5. It shows you which questions it took off the team

You need to know how many repeat questions the AI answered without your team, and which ones it handed over, grouped by topic. You also need the questions it couldn't answer, so someone adds the right answer.
Without that, you can't tell whether the tool is working. Worse, you might count a customer who gave up as a question answered. We've written a separate comparison on spotting missing answers if that's your main worry.
My AskAI answers from inside the helpdesk your team already works in, with Custom Answers for the wording that must never change.

How did I score these FAQ chatbots?

⚡
TL;DR: Eight criteria scored out of 10: the five jobs above, plus whether it works inside the helpdesk you already run, whether you can get it live without a developer, and what it costs a month at 2,000 tickets.
The facts behind the scores come from each vendor's website, pricing page and help docs. A feature only counts if it's on the plan I've priced. In each tool's job table, a check mark means those pages show the whole job on that plan, and a warning sign means they show part of it.
Setup times assume you'll use AI to help prepare your answers. The tools fall into three kinds: agents that install into your helpdesk (My AskAI, Fini and eesel AI), AI built into the helpdesk (Intercom Fin and Zendesk), and website chat tools with their own AI (Tidio and Chatbase).
Here are the eight criteria:
  1. Answers where customers already ask - website chat, help center and email on the plan I've priced.
  1. Understands the question and the follow-up - the customer's own words, the follow-up, their language.
  1. Uses your exact approved wording - fixed answers your support team sets.
  1. Gets the customer to a person - a clear way out, with the conversation passed along.
  1. Shows which questions it took off the team - answered and handed over, by topic, plus what it couldn't answer.
  1. Works in the helpdesk you already run - answers inside your current helpdesk.
  1. Live without a developer - the vendor's own stated setup for a support team.
  1. Monthly cost at 2,000 tickets - the lowest plan that covers the volume and the channels scored.
If you want to run these same checks on your own questions, My AskAI's 30-day free trial has every feature unlocked and needs no credit card.

How do the 7 FAQ chatbots compare at a glance?

⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI leads on 71 out of 80, Intercom Fin is second on 65 and strongest for teams already on Intercom, and Chatbase is third on 62 as the low-cost pick for a website chatbot.

My AskAI is top or joint top on the three criteria that decide whether an AI can answer customers unsupervised: exact wording, getting them to a person, and showing your team what it took off them. Intercom Fin matches us on handover and on helpdesk fit, and it loses most of its ground on cost, at $1,188 a month against our $355.
Chatbase is third on 62, helped by the lowest bill in the set and a quick setup, though handing a customer over means creating a ticket in another tool. eesel AI is a point behind on 61. Like us, it's an AI layer on the helpdesk you keep.
Zendesk's AI agents are on 57 and score highest of all on where customers ask, because the AI answers inside help-center search. Fini is on 55. Tidio, on 54, is quick to start for a small team. Past 1,000 AI conversations a month, its self-serve Lyro quota ends and Plus starts at $300 a month plus usage.
Our lowest score is the 8 on where customers ask, two points behind Zendesk and level with eesel AI and Fini. We answer in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot chat and email, and in our own website widget for teams that want one.

Where do FAQ chatbots go wrong with customers?

⚡
TL;DR: Three ways: it answers confidently from an out-of-date FAQ, it keeps a customer going round the same answer with no way to a person, and it counts a customer who gave up as a question answered.
Here are three ways a team's first FAQ chatbot lets customers down, each with a quick test to run before you sign anything.
Three ways an FAQ chatbot lets customers down, each with a demo test: it answers from an out-of-date FAQ (ask for the exact wording of a policy you changed), it keeps customers going round the same answer (ask for a person twice and check the history reaches your team), and it counts giving up as answered (check answered and handed-over questions are reported separately).

Failure mode 1: It answers confidently from an out-of-date FAQ

Your help center still says last year's returns window, so the AI confidently gives customers the old one. The AI read an article that was wrong or out of date, and repeated it faithfully.
The answers that must never drift, such as the returns window, should go out in fixed wording your team controls. The tool should also show your team which answers were wrong, so someone fixes the article behind them. Before you go live, run a help center audit with AI reading through the articles and flagging the stale ones (well under an afternoon's work).
In the demo, ask for the exact wording of a policy you changed recently. Then ask the vendor how your team fixes one wrong answer without rewriting the whole article.

Failure mode 2: It keeps the customer going round the same answer

The customer asks for a person and gets the same article again. Or there's no visible way out at all (the chat just offers more articles), so they close the chat and email you, angrier than when they started.
A good tool offers a way to a person on request, when the AI can't answer, and when the customer is frustrated. One customer put the whole problem in a single line:
"From the customer side I just want to stop repeating myself." - a customer on Reddit
In the demo, type "I want to talk to a person" twice, then say the answer didn't help. Check that the conversation lands with your team with its history attached.

Failure mode 3: It counts a customer who gave up as a question answered

The chat ended, so the tool reports a success. The customer then emails you anyway, and your dashboard still shows it as answered. A thread on deflection numbers opened with this complaint:
"The bot sent a generic KB article when they just wanted a refund. The ticket closed but the issue is still there!" - a post on Reddit
A reply further down the same thread gave the test for it:
"If they email you back five minutes later you didn't solve their problem. You just put them off." - a reply on Reddit
I treat a near-perfect deflection rate as a warning sign. The fix is to report answered and handed-over questions separately, read them alongside CSAT, and keep the path to a person easy so the number stays true. Our explainer on containment, deflection and resolution walks through the difference.
At My AskAI we count a conversation as resolved only when it wasn't handed to a person, and Insights groups every conversation into topics so you can see which repeat questions it's taking and which still reach your team. If the AI hasn't been able to answer and senses the customer is getting annoyed, it hands the conversation over on its own. And if your help center is thin to begin with, My AskAI can draft starter articles from your historic tickets for your team to review.

Can My AskAI answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI answers FAQs inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot and in its own widget, covering all 5 jobs fully, with Custom Answers for exact wording. At 2,000 tickets a month it costs $355 on Pro.
My AskAI is an AI agent that installs into the helpdesk you already run, from that helpdesk's own app marketplace. It answers customers in Zendesk (tickets and Messaging), Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, and in our own website widget if you want one on your site.

We built it for support teams with no developer to spare. You connect your help center and other knowledge, set the answers that must never change, and decide when it hands over.

How does My AskAI answer a customer's question end-to-end?

Say a customer opens chat on your site and asks whether they can still return something they bought five weeks ago. Our AI reads the question in the customer's own words and language (95+ are supported) and checks your help center and connected knowledge. If you've set a Custom Answer for your returns window, it replies with that approved answer word for word.

Control Your AI Agent's Answers
When the customer follows up with "what about if it's been worn?", the same conversation carries on. If they ask for a person, the AI can't answer, or it senses they're getting frustrated, it hands the conversation to your team inside the same helpdesk. From that point our AI stops replying until your team hands it back.
Guidance is where you tell it how to sound and when to hand over, in plain English. When someone on your team wants to know why the AI said something, they ask Echo, our assistant for your team, which explains the answer and the knowledge source behind it. Customers never see Echo.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs does My AskAI cover?

My AskAI does all five jobs fully. The same agent answers in your helpdesk and on your website through our widget.

✅ on request, when stuck or on frustration, same helpdesk

✅ Insights topics, trends and handed-over conversations
Custom Answers give us the top exact-wording score, a 9. You write the approved answer once and the AI returns it word for word whenever that question comes up.
Handover and reporting both reach 9. The AI hands over at the three moments a customer needs a person, and the conversation stays in your helpdesk. On reporting, Insights sorts every conversation into topics and flags new ones as they appear.
On where customers ask, we score 8, two behind Zendesk. We answer in your helpdesk's chat and email and in our widget. You're live in minutes with no developer, and internal-note mode lets your team read the AI's drafts before customers see an answer, so setup gets a 9.

Who's using My AskAI?

Edel Optics connected its Zendesk help center so the AI could answer its FAQs on orders, cancellations, refunds and returns. It now runs at 75-79% AI resolution on more than 4,000 tickets a month, with 92% AI CSAT across 4,067 tickets.
Swytch, which sells e-bike kits, deflects 81% of its Zendesk tickets with AI, over 4,050 tickets a month. TravelJoy went from 24% resolution with its previous AI to 80% with ours, and YouGarden resolves 66% of roughly 12,000 Freshdesk tickets a month.
A footwear brand answers customers both in its website chat widget and in Freshdesk, and resolves 95% of about 5,300 monthly tickets with AI at 90% CSAT.

How does My AskAI price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Pro costs $199 a month and includes 1,000 credits, with each extra credit at $0.12. A typical chat uses about 1 credit and a typical email about 1.5, so 1,400 chats and 600 emails come to 2,300 credits, or $199 plus 1,300 × $0.12, which is $355 a month.
We charge per ticket, resolved or not, so the bill doesn't climb as the AI answers more. Add-ons such as Tasks bill on top only where you use them, and Pro covers up to 5,000 tickets a month. The 30-day free trial unlocks every feature and needs no credit card, so you can test it on your own repeat questions first.
✅
Choose My AskAI if:
  • You want the AI answering inside the helpdesk your team already works in.
  • Some answers, such as prices or your returns window, must go out word for word.
  • You want customers handed over when they ask, when the AI is stuck, or when they're frustrated.
  • You want to see which repeat questions it's taking, by topic.
❌
Don't choose My AskAI if:
  • You want AI answers to appear inside your help center's own search box.
  • You handle well over 5,000 tickets a month and want to stay on an entry plan.
  • You'd rather build and host your own chatbot with a developer.

Can Intercom Fin answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: Intercom Fin answers in the Messenger, email, WhatsApp and SMS from your content only and passes the full conversation to your team, covering all 5 jobs fully. At a 60% resolution rate, 2,000 tickets cost about $1,188 a month in AI charges.
Fin is Intercom's AI agent. It answers inside Intercom and also works on other helpdesks, including Zendesk, HubSpot and Gorgias.
The Intercom homepage hero, titled 'A complete system for human and AI customer service', with 'Start free trial' and 'View demo' buttons.
The Intercom homepage hero, titled 'A complete system for human and AI customer service', with 'Start free trial' and 'View demo' buttons.
What I like about Fin is that it tells the customer when it has no answer, then offers to hand over.

How does Intercom Fin answer a customer's question end-to-end?

A customer opens the Messenger and asks a question. Fin answers only from your support content, according to Intercom's Fin FAQ, and if nothing covers it, it says it didn't find an answer. Customers can also search your help articles right inside the Messenger without starting a conversation. I think that suits customers who'd rather read than chat.
Fin's pricing page lists tickets, email, live chat, WhatsApp and SMS, and its channels page says it answers in 45 languages around the clock. That breadth is why I've scored it 9 on where customers ask. It's a point behind Zendesk, whose AI also answers inside help-center search.
When Fin hands over, Intercom's live chat page says the team gets "the full conversation history, including what Fin already tried." You can set escalation with data-driven rules and with plain-language guidance. With the full history attached, handover gets a 9.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs does Intercom Fin cover?

Intercom Fin also does all five jobs fully. Its reporting shows resolved and escalated conversations as separate numbers.

✅ resolution rate and escalations reported separately
Custom Answers let you fix the reply to a set question, but Intercom's help center says new customers get Procedures in their place, which take more work to write. That puts exact wording at 8, a point behind our Custom Answers. Fin reports resolved and escalated conversations separately, so reporting also scores 8, behind our topic-by-topic view.

Who's using Intercom Fin?

Fin's customer stories include Anthropic, which explains why it chose Fin, and Lightspeed, which uses it at enterprise scale.

How does Intercom Fin price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Fin costs $0.99 per outcome, with a minimum of 50 outcomes a month on another helpdesk. At the 60% resolution rate I've used for every per-resolution tool, 1,200 outcomes come to $1,188 a month. Intercom's page also says "You're not charged when a conversation is simply passed to your team without an outcome."
That's AI charges only, with your helpdesk seats on top. At more than three times our $355, and rising with every question Fin answers, that bill earns Fin a 5 on cost.
✅
Choose Intercom Fin if:
  • Your team already runs Intercom and its Messenger.
  • You want answers across chat, email, WhatsApp and SMS from one agent.
  • You want your team to see everything Fin tried before it handed over.
❌
Don't choose Intercom Fin if:
  • You want a monthly bill that doesn't rise as the AI answers more.
  • Cost at a few thousand tickets a month is your deciding factor.
  • You want AI answers inside your help center's own search box.
If you run Intercom and want a bill that stays put as the AI gets better, My AskAI installs into Intercom. It charges per ticket, resolved or not.

Can Zendesk AI agents answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: Zendesk's AI agents answer inside your Zendesk help-center search, as well as in the Web Widget and email, covering 3 of 5 jobs fully. At a 60% resolution rate with 5 agents, 2,000 tickets cost about $2,350 a month in AI charges on pay-as-you-go, seats not included.
Zendesk's AI agents are the native answer for teams already on Zendesk. They answer customers in help-center search, in the messaging Web Widget and by email.

A customer who searches your help center gets an answer written for their exact question.

How do Zendesk AI agents answer a customer's question end-to-end?

A customer types a question into your help-center search. Zendesk's generative search writes an answer from your articles, and it's on by default on every Suite plan. If the customer has a follow-up, the conversation continues in the Web Widget.
No other tool I've scored answers in help-center search as well as the widget and email, which earns Zendesk the only 10 on where customers ask. Email, the help center and messaging all come with Suite Team, the entry Suite plan. It answers in 80+ languages according to the pricing page, so understanding scores 9.
Handover to a person is set up through escalation strategies and flows in Zendesk, so the customer reaches your team inside the same helpdesk. That scores 8, a point behind Fin, which passes along everything it already tried. I care about the difference, because an agent who can see what the AI already tried won't ask the customer to start again.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs do Zendesk AI agents cover?

Zendesk AI agents cover 3 of the 5 jobs fully, including answers inside help-center search.
Job
Zendesk AI agents
Answers where customers already ask
✅ help-center search, Web Widget, email
Understands the question and the follow-up
✅ 80+ languages
Uses your exact approved wording
⚠️ control through article permissions and user segments
Gets the customer to a person
✅ escalation flows inside Zendesk
Shows which questions it took off the team
⚠️ automated resolutions and search feedback
Zendesk's help articles describe controlling what the AI answers through article permissions and user segments, and they don't describe a setting that pins one exact answer to a question. That puts exact wording at 6, the lowest exact-wording score here. For a returns window or a price, I think that's a real gap on Zendesk.
Reporting scores 7. Zendesk shows automated resolutions and feedback on search answers, but it counts the resolutions it bills for differently from the ones it reports, which makes the number harder to read against your invoice. Zendesk says generative replies can be live and answering customers in minutes, while the escalation flows are a separate job to set up, so setup comes in at 8.

Who's using Zendesk AI agents?

ODEON Cinemas uses Zendesk AI for guest support, and Zendesk's story credits it with more automated deflection and faster refund handling.

How do Zendesk AI agents price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Zendesk's pricing page puts Suite Team at $69 per agent a month on monthly billing, with 5 automated resolutions per agent included. With 5 agents (the team size I've assumed for this volume) that's 25 included, so at 60% the remaining 1,175 resolutions cost $2.00 each on pay-as-you-go, or $2,350. Committing to a volume at $1.50 brings it to $1,762.50.
Those are AI charges only, with seats on top. Zendesk scores 4 on cost, the joint lowest in the set, because per-resolution billing at this volume costs more than six times our $355.
✅
Choose Zendesk AI agents if:
  • Your team is on Zendesk Suite and plans to stay there.
  • You want AI answers inside your help-center search.
  • Your help center is already up to date and covers most repeat questions.
❌
Don't choose Zendesk AI agents if:
  • You're not on Zendesk, or you run more than one helpdesk.
  • Some answers must go out word for word every time.
  • A per-resolution bill at a few thousand tickets a month is hard to justify.
For Zendesk teams that need fixed wording on policy answers, My AskAI installs into Zendesk tickets and Messaging. Our Custom Answers are returned word for word.

Can Tidio (Lyro) answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: Tidio's Lyro answers FAQs in Tidio's own website chat and email and is quick to set up, covering 1 of 5 jobs fully. Past 1,000 AI conversations a month, self-serve Lyro stops and the Plus plan starts at $300 a month plus usage.
Tidio is a website chat tool for small teams, and Lyro is its AI agent. It learns your FAQ and website, then answers in Tidio's chat widget and by email.
The Tidio homepage hero, titled 'What did your last 100 conversations earn you?', with G2 and Shopify App Store ratings and 'Start for free' and 'Contact sales' buttons.
The Tidio homepage hero, titled 'What did your last 100 conversations earn you?', with G2 and Shopify App Store ratings and 'Start for free' and 'Contact sales' buttons.
If your small team already lives in Tidio, Lyro is about as easy a start as you'll find.

How does Tidio (Lyro) answer a customer's question end-to-end?

A visitor asks a question in Tidio's chat on your site and Lyro answers from your FAQ and website content. According to Tidio's Lyro help article, it works in English by default and supports 47 other languages, which scores 8 on understanding. That's a point behind the tools that answer in every supported language without a default.
You can add specific questions by hand alongside the pages Lyro learns from (handy for a returns window). The help article treats them as extra content for Lyro to learn from and doesn't say the reply goes out word for word, so exact wording scores 7. When transfer is allowed during online hours, Lyro offers the customer a "Talk to a person" option. Because that option depends on your online hours, handover gets a 7.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs does Tidio (Lyro) cover?

Tidio (Lyro) covers 1 of the 5 jobs fully, and it lists every live chat question it couldn't answer so your team can add the answer.
Job
Tidio (Lyro)
Answers where customers already ask
⚠️ Tidio's own chat and email
Understands the question and the follow-up
✅ English plus 47 languages
Uses your exact approved wording
⚠️ specific questions added by hand
Gets the customer to a person
⚠️ "Talk to a person" during online hours
Shows which questions it took off the team
⚠️ unanswered questions listed, AI analytics tabs
Because Lyro answers only in Tidio's own chat and email, where customers ask comes in at 7. Reporting matches it at 7. Lyro Analytics splits live conversations, emails and knowledge performance, and the unanswered-questions list is useful, but its tabs don't include a topic view.
Tidio's Borrowell story shows Lyro learning from a Zendesk help center and turning chats it can't resolve into Zendesk tickets with the conversation attached, so your team in Zendesk only sees what Lyro couldn't answer. That hand-off puts helpdesk fit at 5. I've given setup a 9, because a small team can get Lyro answering FAQs the same day.

Who's using Tidio (Lyro)?

Borrowell runs Lyro with Zendesk, and Tidio's story reports an 83% resolution rate. Burker used Lyro to scale support across global markets, with Tidio reporting a Lyro resolution rate of about 80%.

How does Tidio (Lyro) price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Tidio's pricing page lets you buy Lyro AI conversations yourself up to 1,000 a month, at $700 for the full 1,000 on top of your Tidio plan. Above that, the page lists Plus from $300 a month plus monthly usage, without the usage rate.
Tidio scores 4 on cost because 2,000 AI conversations a month isn't something you can price yourself from the page. For a team under 1,000 AI conversations a month, I like that the self-serve price is right there on the page, and you can buy without talking to sales.
✅
Choose Tidio (Lyro) if:
  • You're a small team happy to run support inside Tidio's chat and inbox.
  • You handle fewer than 1,000 AI conversations a month.
  • You want the AI answering on your website the same day.
❌
Don't choose Tidio (Lyro) if:
  • You need the AI answering inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk or another helpdesk.
  • You expect more than 1,000 AI conversations a month and want a published price.
  • Customers need a way to a person outside your online hours.
My AskAI answers inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, so a team already in one of them keeps working there. Our price is published well past 2,000 tickets a month.

Can Chatbase answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: Chatbase is a website chatbot you can set up in minutes with Q&A pairs for fixed answers, covering 2 of 5 jobs fully. At about two AI replies per conversation, 2,000 conversations a month cost about $150 on Standard, the lowest bill here.
Chatbase builds an AI agent from your website, files and written Q&A, then answers customers in its own widget and other channels. It also has a helpdesk module of its own.
Chatbase's homepage, which presents Chatbase as conversational agents for customer experience.
Chatbase's homepage, which presents Chatbase as conversational agents for customer experience.
It's the cheapest tool in this set by a distance. For a website chatbot with no helpdesk behind it, I think that price is hard to argue with.

How does Chatbase answer a customer's question end-to-end?

A visitor asks a question in the Chatbase widget on your site. The agent answers from what you've given it, and its homepage says it supports 80+ languages with automatic detection, so understanding gets a 9.
Chatbase's data sources guide recommends Q&A pairs for "questions that need a precise, consistent answer, such as pricing, policies, or business-specific details". The same guide describes the pairs as material to train the AI on, while our Custom Answers go out word for word, so exact wording scores 8, a point behind us.
When a customer needs a person, Chatbase creates a ticket in its own helpdesk or a connected one such as Zendesk or Freshdesk. The customer's chat becomes a ticket in another tool, which scores 7 on handover, two behind the tools that keep the conversation where it started.

Chatbase answers in its widget and its own channels (email reaches it through a helpdesk handover), and its analytics guide covers chats, topics, sentiment and helpdesk activity, with no list of unanswered questions among them. That puts both where customers ask and reporting at 7.
Its link to a helpdesk is the ticket it hands to Zendesk or Freshdesk when a customer needs a person, which leaves helpdesk fit at 5, four behind us and Fin. Its homepage says no code is required and it's ready in minutes, so setup reaches 9.

Who's using Chatbase?

Aplazo is a named Chatbase customer, and its story covers how it doubled merchant acquisition without adding headcount.

How does Chatbase price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Chatbase's pricing page puts Standard at $150 a month with 4,000 message credits, and its models guide lists the Auto model at 1 credit per message. At two AI replies per conversation, 4,000 credits cover the 2,000 conversations exactly.
If your conversations run longer, extra credits come through auto-recharge at $40 per 1,000 (so three replies each would add $80). Nothing else here comes close to $150, so Chatbase gets the only 10 on cost.
✅
Choose Chatbase if:
  • You want a website chatbot with no helpdesk involved.
  • Keeping the monthly bill as low as possible is your priority.
  • You want fixed answers for pricing and policy questions without a developer.
❌
Don't choose Chatbase if:
  • You want the AI answering customers inside Zendesk, Intercom or Freshdesk.
  • Your customers email your helpdesk as often as they chat.
  • You need to see which questions the AI couldn't answer.
We answer email and chat inside the helpdesk, so the emails in your inbox get answers too. For the same 2,000 tickets, we charge $355 a month.

Can Fini answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: Fini installs into Zendesk, Intercom and Gorgias, covering 1 of 5 jobs fully. Its Growth plan includes up to 3,000 tickets a month, with $0.89 per resolved ticket past that, and the pricing page doesn't list Growth's monthly price.
Fini is an AI agent that installs into the helpdesk you already run, just as My AskAI and eesel AI do. Its integrations page says it works with Zendesk, Intercom, Gorgias and more, with no migration or rebuild.
The Fini homepage hero, which claims its AI agent resolves 90% of support tickets, with a badge naming Microsoft, a "Book a demo" button and four stats Fini reports.
The Fini homepage hero, which claims its AI agent resolves 90% of support tickets, with a badge naming Microsoft, a "Book a demo" button and four stats Fini reports.
Fini has no per-seat fees, and each plan includes a monthly allowance of tickets.

How does Fini answer a customer's question end-to-end?

A customer writes in through your helpdesk's chat or email and Fini answers there, from the knowledge you manage in its Knowledge Atlas. That scores 8 on where customers ask.
Fini lists answering in several languages on its Scale plan, and I've priced Growth, so understanding gets a 7. The other three jobs also come in at 7, the middle of this field, each on what Fini's pages show:
  • Exact wording - its Knowledge Atlas page says every answer is grounded in one cited article and contradictions are caught before customers see them, which keeps answers consistent. It stops short of pinning one approved reply to one question, the way Custom Answers do for us and Fin.
  • Getting to a person - its homepage says you set escalation rules in plain English, and the Peaksware case study describes Fini escalating inside Zendesk with context attached. Neither page names the moments that hand a customer over, such as asking for a person or getting frustrated.
  • Reporting - its homepage says Fini flags edge cases for your team to review and spots gaps in its own knowledge, and the pricing page counts every resolved ticket. Neither page shows a topic-by-topic view of what it took off the team.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs does Fini cover?

Fini covers 1 of the 5 jobs fully, and its Growth plan bundles implementation into the price.

Fini installs into Zendesk, Intercom and Gorgias, so helpdesk fit gets an 8. Its homepage says you go live in 14 days, with implementation included on Growth and a dedicated AI engineer on Scale. A guided rollout takes a week or more longer than the tools you switch on yourself, so I've given setup a 7. For a team with no spare hours to run the setup itself, I can see the appeal of having Fini's people do it.

Who's using Fini?

Peaksware is a named Fini customer, and Fini's case study reports 70%+ ticket deflection.

How does Fini price for 2,000 tickets a month?

Fini's pricing page says one plan covers the platform, implementation and a monthly allowance of tickets. Growth includes up to 3,000 tickets a month, and each resolved ticket past that allowance costs $0.89.
I've scored Fini 4 on cost, the same as Tidio, because neither pricing page gives a monthly price you can work out for 2,000 tickets.
✅
Choose Fini if:
  • You run Zendesk, Intercom or Gorgias and want the AI inside it.
  • You'd rather pay for a monthly ticket allowance than per seat.
  • You want implementation help included in the plan.
❌
Don't choose Fini if:
  • You need answers in several languages on the entry plan.
  • You want to switch it on yourself the same afternoon.
My AskAI answers in 95+ languages on Pro from inside your helpdesk. Answering in several languages doesn't need a bigger plan.

Can eesel AI answer your customers' FAQs?

⚡
TL;DR: eesel AI answers Zendesk tickets and live chat and hands chats to your team, covering 4 of 5 jobs fully, with reports that show where it got stuck. At 2,000 tickets a month it costs $999 on its 2,500-credit plan.
eesel AI is an AI layer on the helpdesk you already run, much like My AskAI. It works with Zendesk, Freshdesk and other helpdesks, and learns from your help center, macros and past tickets.
The eesel homepage hero, titled "Hire AI agents for customer service, content and more," with a Get started free button.
The eesel homepage hero, titled "Hire AI agents for customer service, content and more," with a Get started free button.
I rate its reporting highly, because it tells you where the AI got stuck and which topics are building up gaps.

How does eesel AI answer a customer's question end-to-end?

On Zendesk, a customer writes in by ticket or opens live chat through Zendesk Messenger on your website or help center, and eesel answers both from the same knowledge. Its docs describe the agent handing a chat to your team when it should and opening a ticket from the conversation. That puts where customers ask at 8, and handover at 8, a point behind the tools that pass everything the AI tried.
It replies in whichever language the customer writes in, which scores 8 on understanding. Canned responses can go in as knowledge, but the pages describe no setting that pins one exact answer to a question, so exact wording gets a 7. If your team's macros are already well written, I think that's a decent head start, as long as nothing has to go out word for word.

How many of the 5 FAQ chatbot jobs does eesel AI cover?

eesel AI covers 4 of the 5 jobs fully, and its reports name the topics where answers are missing.
Job

✅ hands chats to your team, opens a ticket
Shows which questions it took off the team
✅ handled, answer quality, gaps by topic
Its reporting covers how much the agent handled, how good its answers were and where it got stuck, so reporting gets an 8. Setup is also an 8, ready in minutes for tickets, with live chat a second connection through Zendesk Messenger.

Who's using eesel AI?

eesel's customer page names Cape Coffee Beans, which runs it on Zendesk with product lookups inside the ticket. Innr uses it on Freshdesk, where every ticket is drafted in the customer's language.

How does eesel AI price for 2,000 tickets a month?

eesel's pricing page counts a ticket or a chat as 1 credit. The 1,500-credit plan at $699 falls short of 2,000 tickets, so the plan that covers it is 2,500 credits at $999 a month. That earns eesel a 6 on cost, because you pay for 500 credits you don't use at this volume, and $999 is nearly three times our $355.
✅
Choose eesel AI if:
  • You run Zendesk or Freshdesk and want an AI layer on top.
  • You want reports on where the AI got stuck, topic by topic.
  • A fixed monthly credit bundle suits your budgeting.
❌
Don't choose eesel AI if:
  • Your volume is just over a credit bundle, so you'd pay for unused credits.
  • Some answers must go out word for word every time.
  • You want the lowest monthly bill at 2,000 tickets.
If you want fixed wording on your policy answers inside Zendesk or Freshdesk, My AskAI's Custom Answers return the approved answer word for word. We charge $355 for the same volume.

What does an FAQ chatbot save you at 2,000 tickets a month? (worked example)

⚡
TL;DR: At 2,000 tickets a month, a team answering everything by hand spends about $4,000, and the AI options here run from about $150 to $2,350 a month, assuming a 60% resolution rate for tools that charge per resolution.
The basis for every row is 2,000 tickets a month: 1,400 by chat and 600 by email. For every tool that charges per resolution or per outcome, I've assumed the AI resolves 60%, or 1,200 tickets. For Chatbase, which charges per AI reply, I've assumed about two AI replies per conversation.
The no-AI row assumes five minutes of your team's time per ticket, for a team that already uses AI to help draft replies. That's priced at $0.40 a minute, which allows for overheads on top of the median US wage for customer service representatives of $21.53 an hour. For AI built into a helpdesk you already pay for, the row counts the AI charge only.

Every AI row also leaves the unanswered tickets with your team. At 60% that's 800 tickets, or about $1,600 a month at the same $2.00 each, so the saving is your team's time on the questions the AI answers. To run the same sum on your own volume, our AI support agent ROI calculator works it out for any vendor.
The per-resolution bills (Intercom Fin, Zendesk and Fini) grow with the number of questions the AI closes, once any included allowance is used up. Chatbase's bill depends on how many replies each conversation takes, and Tidio's depends on a usage rate its pricing page doesn't list.
We charge per ticket whether the AI answers it or hands it over, so our $355 stays put as the AI gets better. Add-ons bill on top only where you use them, and the 30-day free trial lets you check the numbers on your own tickets before you pay anything.

So which FAQ chatbot is best for your support team?

⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI is the pick for answering FAQs inside the helpdesk you already run, Intercom Fin is the runner-up for teams on Intercom, and a small team that only needs a website chatbot should look at Chatbase.
We top the scoreboard on 71 because My AskAI is strongest on the jobs that decide whether you can let an AI answer customers on its own. It gives your exact wording on the answers that can't change, gets customers to a person, and shows your team which repeat questions it's taking, all inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot.
Intercom Fin, on 65, is the runner-up and the pick for a team already running Intercom, with the broadest set of channels and the full conversation passed along at handover. For a small team that only needs a website chatbot and wants the lowest bill, I think Chatbase is the sensible start. If you're on Zendesk Suite and want answers inside help-center search, Zendesk's AI agents do that best.
Whichever tool you pick, here's a rollout order that keeps the risk low:
  1. Pick the ten questions your team answers most. Export last month's tickets and let AI group them (it takes about half an hour).
  1. Set fixed answers for the ones that must never change, such as your returns window and prices.
  1. Run the AI in internal-note mode for a week or two, so your team reads every draft before customers see one.
  1. Turn on direct replies in chat first, then email once the chat answers hold up.
Edel Optics, one of our customers, followed much the same path, starting in internal-note mode before switching to direct replies on its Zendesk help center FAQs. Try My AskAI free for 30 days on your own repeat questions.

FAQs

What is an FAQ chatbot?
An FAQ chatbot is an AI agent that answers your customers' common questions from your help center and other content, in chat, in the help center or by email. The good ones understand the customer's own words, answer the follow-up, and hand over to a person when they can't help.
What is the difference between an FAQ chatbot and a self-service help center?
A help center waits for the customer to search, pick an article and read it. An FAQ chatbot answers the question in the conversation, handles the follow-up, and hands over when it can't help. Zendesk puts an AI-written answer inside help-center search, and most tools answer in chat and email. We answer in your helpdesk's chat and email and in our own website widget.
How much does an FAQ chatbot cost?
At 2,000 tickets a month, the tools in this post run from about $150 to $2,350 a month, against roughly $4,000 for a team answering everything by hand. Per-resolution tools such as Intercom Fin and Zendesk cost more as the AI answers more. At My AskAI we charge $355 a month on Pro for the same volume, per ticket whether the AI answers it or hands it over.
Can an FAQ chatbot answer questions that are not in my FAQ?
Only if the answer is somewhere in the content you've connected, such as your help center, website or internal docs. A good tool says it doesn't know and hands over, which is how Intercom describes Fin. If your help center is thin, we can draft starter articles from your historic tickets so the AI has more to answer from.
When should an FAQ chatbot hand a customer to a person?
In three moments: when the customer asks for a person, when the AI can't answer, and when the customer is getting frustrated. The conversation should go along with them, so nobody makes them repeat it. Ours hands over at all three and stops replying until your team hands the conversation back.
Can I set up AI customer support without any coding?
Yes. Every tool in this post states a setup that a support team can do without a developer, from Chatbase's few minutes to Fini's guided implementation. We install from your helpdesk's app marketplace, connect to your help center, and can run in internal-note mode first so your team checks its answers before customers see them.
How do I reduce customer support ticket volume without hiring more agents?
Start with the repeat questions, because they're the easiest to answer well without your team. Put an AI agent where customers already ask, give it fixed wording for your policy and pricing answers, and make the way to a person easy. Swytch, one of our customers, deflects 81% of its Zendesk tickets with AI.
