Featurebase's Fibi costs $0.49 a resolution and only works inside its own inbox. These 8 Featurebase alternatives cover the support half, scored on 8 criteria.
Mike is an experienced Product Manager who focuses on all the “non-development” areas of My AskAI, from finance and customer success to product design, copywriting, testing and more.
Featurebase's Fibi costs $0.49 a resolution and only answers inside Featurebase's own inbox. These 8 alternatives cover the support half. Intercom wins the scoreboard, and we place third.
The eight support products are the ones a team leaving Featurebase's inbox, Tickets and Fibi can move to: Intercom leads at 66/80, Freshdesk follows at 59, and My AskAI and Help Scout tie at 58. Seven of them are helpdesks with their own AI agent, and we are the AI layer you add once that helpdesk (Freshchat, Gorgias, HubSpot or one of the bigger three) is chosen. The trade-off is the bill: every per-resolution vendor charges more as its AI improves, while per-ticket and bundled-seat pricing hold still.
You bought Featurebase for the feedback boards. Then the support inbox arrived, Tickets followed, and Fibi started answering your customers. Now you are asking whether your helpdesk should live inside a feedback tool at all.
I know the product from the inside: we run our own feedback board, roadmap and changelog on Featurebase, and we pay for it. We do not use the support half, and that is the half you are choosing an alternative for.
I scored eight support products a Featurebase team can move to, each out of 10 on eight criteria, and costed every one at 3,000 conversations a month.
Quick answer: the best Featurebase alternatives
⚡
TL;DR: Intercom leads the scoreboard at 66/80. Prices in this set run from My AskAI at about $0.10 a ticket up to Intercom at $0.99 per outcome.
Intercom (best full replacement). The deepest inbox, the strongest AI agent and the widest compliance grid here, at per-outcome pricing that grows with success.
Freshdesk (cheapest mature seat). A mature ticketing system from $19 an agent billed annually, with 500 Freddy sessions included, then $49 per 100 sessions.
My AskAI (best AI layer once you have a helpdesk). Pricing from $0.10 a ticket and training on past tickets, with no inbox of our own and no Featurebase integration.
Help Scout (simplest migration). A calm email-first inbox on per-user seats, with AI Answers at $0.75 a resolution, drawing only on Help Scout Docs sites and public sites/documents.
Zoho Desk (no per-resolution line at all). AI bundled into the seat, on an agent that answers from your published knowledge base articles rather than past tickets.
Chatbase (fastest to stand up). Live in minutes, paid plans from $40 a month, on a credit meter that charges per response and stops the agent at zero unless auto-recharge is on.
Are there alternatives to Featurebase for customer support?
⚡
TL;DR: Yes. Featurebase's support layer is a year old and Fibi runs only on Featurebase's own Messenger, email and Slack, so the alternatives are a mainstream helpdesk with its own AI, or an AI layer added to a helpdesk you already run (the feedback boards are a separate decision, and one we're keeping).
Featurebase is two products under one subscription. The first is the feedback suite: boards, widgets, roadmaps, a changelog, surveys and a help center. The second is the newer support suite: a unified inbox, Tickets, Workflows, a Copilot and the Fibi AI agent.
Fibi answers in three places. By default it works over Featurebase's own Messenger, and Featurebase's own setup article puts it this way:
"Simple Deploy is a straightforward setup where you enable Fibi quickly without using Workflows to automate your support over Messenger." — Featurebase help center, Set up and customize the Fibi AI agent
The same article adds that "Advanced deploy also allows Fibi to be used over Email." Slack is the newest channel. The Featurebase changelog states that "Slack support is available on the Professional and Enterprise plans."
No voice, WhatsApp, SMS or social channel appears on any of Featurebase's support pages (Intercom, Freshdesk and Crisp each carry at least one of those).
Featurebase's Zendesk, Intercom and HubSpot integrations capture feature requests and feedback from those tools, and Fibi stays inside Featurebase.
Using Fibi for support means moving your helpdesk into Featurebase, and leaving means moving it out again.
On price, the Featurebase pricing page lists $29, $59 and $99 per seat a month billed yearly. Every paid tier adds $0.49 per AI resolution, and the Free plan is marked "AI not supported".
We have a separate post on Featurebase pricing with the full math. It covers Fibi's rise to $0.49 per resolution (up from $0.29 earlier in 2026).
My AskAI installs into Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, with no Featurebase integration.
What's the overall comparison of these 8 Featurebase alternatives?
⚡
TL;DR: Intercom leads at 66/80 on inbox depth, AI and compliance, with Freshdesk on 59 and My AskAI and Help Scout tied on 58. Monthly cost at 3,000 conversations, five seats and a 65% resolution rate runs from $200 to about $2,100, and the pricing model sets where each vendor lands.
The eight criteria are inbox and ticketing, setup and migration, training sources, AI features, improving over time, security and compliance, maturity and scale, and cost. Evidence comes from each vendor's own pricing page, documentation and security page. Scores are unweighted, and the Overall row is the sum of the eight rows.

Intercom wins four rows outright and shares a fifth with My AskAI on improving over time. We take training sources outright and share cost with Zoho Desk. Chatbase takes setup and migration alone.
My AskAI scores 3 on the inbox row because we are the answering layer inside a helpdesk. We run inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, so a Featurebase leaver picks one of those first and then adds us.
My AskAI and Help Scout both total 58. The higher AI features score, 8 against 6, puts us third and Help Scout fourth.
Quadrant chart plotting overall score against monthly cost for the 7 helpdesk alternatives to Featurebase; Intercom sits top-right with the highest score and highest cost, Zoho Desk sits lowest on cost.
How did I select these Featurebase alternatives?
⚡
TL;DR: A vendor qualifies if a team leaving Featurebase's support inbox could run support on it, meaning a helpdesk with its own AI agent, or if it adds an AI agent to one of those helpdesks. Feedback-only tools are routed to the section after the conclusion.
Selection criteria:
It is a self-serve support platform with a published price, a free trial and a first-party AI agent, aimed at startup to mid-market teams. That covers Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Zoho Desk, Chatbase, Crisp and Customerly.
Or it is an AI agent that installs into one of those mainstream helpdesks. That is us.
It publishes enough for every score to be checked against its own pages.
HubSpot Breeze's customer agent is Professional-tier-only, and Zendesk's AI agents are sold as a sales-gated add-on, so both suit a bigger team than a Featurebase buyer. Both are in our best AI help desk software roundup.
Breakdown chart showing two categories of Featurebase alternative: self-serve support platforms with their own AI agent, and feedback-only tools that are out of scope.
Tidio is ecommerce-first and suits a Shopify store better than a SaaS helpdesk. tawk.to does not ingest a help center and does not learn from past tickets. Decagon, Sierra and Ada are sold through sales calls with no public rate card, so you cannot check the price.
Canny, Productboard, UserVoice, Nolt and Frill are feedback tools with no inbox and no AI agent.
How did I compare them?
⚡
TL;DR: Eight criteria for a platform-versus-platform decision, scored from each vendor's own documentation: inbox, migration, training sources, AI, improvement loop, security, maturity and cost.
Seven of these eight products are the helpdesk, so the criteria measure a move off Featurebase.
Inbox & ticketing
Does the product replace Featurebase's inbox, Tickets and customer portal? A 10 means one place for assignment, internal notes, views, SLAs and every channel your customers use. My AskAI scores low here because we are the AI half only.
Setup & migration off Featurebase
Three concrete jobs: a self-serve trial, importing your help center, and the time to a first AI reply. Featurebase's help center content is the main asset you carry out, so a documented importer counts for a lot.
Training sources
What you can feed the AI: a help center, crawled URLs, uploaded files, past tickets, and connectors for Notion, Confluence or Google Drive. Fibi leans on the help center, so an alternative earns points for reading more than that.
AI features
Autonomous replies sent to a customer, actions the agent can take (refunds, plan changes, lookups), a copilot for human agents, and automatic tagging. Agent-assist drafts alone do not score a 10.
Improving over time
Whether the agent gets better without somebody (usually you) finding an afternoon. Self-learning from your agents' replies, custom answers, gap reports, and a way to test before you ship.
Security & compliance
The list a security reviewer will ask for: SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, GDPR and HIPAA, taken from each vendor's own trust or security page. Where the data lives counts here too.
Maturity & scale
Years shipping, customers named in public, and whether the company is bootstrapped, funded or being acquired. Featurebase's support product is a year old, so I expect a leaver to read this row first.
Cost & pricing transparency
The pricing model, the published figures, and whether next month's bill can be forecast from this month's. There are three models in this set: per resolution, per seat with AI bundled, and per ticket.
Per-resolution pricing charges you the most when the AI is working best. Every point of automation you gain is another line on the invoice. We charge per ticket because we think you should keep that gain.
Across 195 rated deployments spanning 38 vendors, our AI resolution rate benchmark study puts the median near 70%. Treat it as a rough aggregate, because the vendors do not measure alike and the top end is self-selected.
Is Intercom a good Featurebase alternative?
⚡
TL;DR: Intercom is the fullest replacement for Featurebase's inbox: a mature helpdesk, Fin at a published resolution rate, the widest channel set and the broadest compliance grid. You pay from $29 a seat (Essential, annual) plus from $0.99 per Fin outcome, and the bill grows with success.
Intercom wins this scoreboard at 66/80. It is the one to beat on every row except setup, training sources and price.
Intercom homepage hero: 'A complete system for human and AI customer service' with Start free trial and View demo buttons.
The company has renamed itself Fin, and Salesforce signed an agreement to acquire it on 15 June 2026. The product is still sold as Intercom Fin.
On G2, Fin by Intercom scores 4.5/5 from 3,901 reviews. Reviewers there say a strong, AI-optimized knowledge base is what drives good autonomous results.
How does Intercom replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Fully. Intercom's helpdesk is the deepest surface Fin runs on, with one inbox, one data layer and Fin AI Copilot beside the human agent. The Fin pricing page lists tickets, cases, email, live chat, WhatsApp and SMS on the Fin side, and phone on the Intercom helpdesk tier (the widest channel list in this post).
How easy is it to set up Intercom and migrate off Featurebase?
Fin goes live quickly, and the tuning takes longer. Help center articles import, URLs and documents sync, and a Featurebase help center moves across as public URLs.
The 6 is for the rest: seats, Fin, the Pro add-on and Copilot are all separate lines. A switcher spends the first month learning which one does what.
What knowledge sources can I train Intercom on?
Twelve listed sources, including internal articles, snippets, website sync, Notion, Confluence and Guru. It is the broadest list among the helpdesks here. I count Notion and Confluence as the two a support team keeps current.
Fin AI Agent does not answer straight from raw past tickets. It drafts snippets when conversations close, and past tickets sit on Copilot's source list.
What features does Intercom have?
Fin 3 is the current generation, running the in-house Fin Apex model. It answers customers on its own and runs Procedures for multi-step actions. It hands to a human inside the same inbox and works as a copilot beside the agent (Fin Voice is sold separately).
Intercom's own Fin vs Sierra page puts Fin's average resolution rate at "71% across 7,000+ customers".
How does Intercom improve over time?
Intercom's Recommendations reads unresolved conversations and proposes content fixes. It, along with the rest of the Pro analysis suite (CX Score, AI Topics, Trends, Monitors), sits behind the Pro add-on, from $99 a month, so the improvement loop is a second purchase.
How secure is Intercom?
The broadest grid in this post. Intercom's security page states that "Intercom and Fin hold SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA compliance along with ISO 27001, ISO 27018, ISO 27701, and ISO 42001 certification, and Fin AI Agent is also AIUC-1 certified". Data residency covers the US, EU and Australia.
How mature is Intercom?
The largest AI cohort here, with Fin past 7,000 customers and the whole company behind it. The acquisition by Salesforce is agreed and pending. A Featurebase leaver gets a decade of inbox work and a vendor big enough for Salesforce to buy outright.
How much does Intercom cost?
Seats are $29 a month list on the helpdesk tier. Fin then bills "$ 0.99 per outcome", which covers resolutions, Procedure handoffs and disqualifications, with lead qualifications at $9.99. The Fin pricing page also shows a "50 outcomes per month minimum" for standalone Fin on Freshdesk, Salesforce or HubSpot.
I score that variable line 5. The bill rises as Fin gets better, and the Pro add-on sits on top.
Who is using Intercom?
Anthropic runs its own support on Fin, and Intercom publishes the build-versus-buy story. Lightspeed rewired its support around Fin. The customers page also lists Kalshi, Nuuly and Clay.
✅
Choose Intercom if:
You want the inbox and the AI agent from one vendor with no integration work between them
Your procurement team asks for ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA or a downloadable SOC 2 report
You need phone, WhatsApp, SMS and social in the same product as web chat
Your volume is low enough that $0.99 per outcome stays affordable
❌
Don't choose Intercom if:
You are leaving Featurebase over the per-resolution bill, because this one is higher per outcome
You need to forecast next month's AI spend to the dollar
You want the improvement loop included and it is a Pro add-on here
You want the AI answering from raw past tickets as well as articles and snippets
TL;DR: Freshdesk is the cheapest mature helpdesk seat here. Growth starts at $19 an agent billed annually, with Freddy AI Agent included for the first 500 sessions, then $49 per 100 sessions (about $0.49 each). That is the same unit price as Fibi, billed per session on a mature ticketing system with voice and social.
Freshdesk is the boring-but-effective option at 59/80. Its AI, Freddy, is a layer inside the Freshworks platform, split into three families that are bought separately. It scores evenly across almost every row (no 10s, no 4s).
Freshworks homepage hero: 'From your first AI agent to AI across customer service. We'll get you there.' with a Freshdesk dashboard mock.
On G2, Freshdesk scores 4.4/5 from 3,746 reviews, with Freddy reviewed inside that main profile. Reviewers there say Freddy's automation workflows cut the manual effort on repetitive tickets and reply prep when volume spikes.
How does Freshdesk replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Completely, and then some: Freshdesk is a full ticketing system with a unified agent workspace, and the wider platform adds phone and social channels Featurebase does not carry. The interface has grown over a decade and shows it. That is my one complaint.
How easy is it to set up Freshdesk and migrate off Featurebase?
No code is needed for the standard path. You enable the add-on, build the agent in Freddy AI Agent Studio from a template, test it in the Test tab, then deploy to web chat, WhatsApp or the email portal. A Featurebase help center comes across as public URLs and files, within Freshworks' own caps (100 files, 50 parent URLs, 3,000 child links).
What knowledge sources can I train Freshdesk on?
Public URLs and files. There is no Notion, Confluence or Google Docs connector, and no training on past tickets. That covers a team whose knowledge lives in a help center.
What features does Freshdesk have?
Three Freddy families, each gated separately. Freddy AI Agent answers customers on Growth and above, while Freddy AI Copilot drafts, summarizes and translates for agents on Pro and above at $29 an agent. Freddy AI Insights is bundled on Enterprise, and Pro can unlock it with a Copilot license, so the sticker on the seat is rarely the whole story (I count three line items before you start).
How does Freshdesk improve over time?
Agent Studio's Test tab lets you check answers before you ship. Beyond that, improvement is manual: you retrain on new URLs and files. There is no simulation against historical tickets and no self-learning from agent replies (the loop is you).
How secure is Freshdesk?
The Freshworks trust page lists "SOC 2 Type 2", "Cyber Essentials" and "Cyber Essentials Plus", with GDPR and a DPA available. It is a large platform with a public trust portal, which a reviewer can work from.
How mature is Freshdesk?
A decade-old product with a large installed base and a public company behind it. For a team leaving a year-old support product, that stability is what the 9 is for.
How much does Freshdesk cost?
The Freshdesk pricing page lists Growth at "$19/agent/month, billed annually" with "Freddy AI Agent (first 500 sessions included)". After that, sessions cost $49 per 100 (about $0.49 a session).
A session is a 24-hour chat window or a 72-hour email window. It bills on interaction, so a session the AI could not finish still counts (same unit price as Fibi, different unit).
Who is using Freshdesk?
Regal Cineworld Group is Freshworks' published cinema-chain story. iPostal1 reports around half its queries resolved by Freddy AI Agent. UPayments reports over 75% of conversations resolved, both from Freshworks' own customer pages.
✅
Choose Freshdesk if:
You want the cheapest mature helpdesk seat with an AI agent included from the entry plan
You need phone and social channels that Featurebase does not carry
Your knowledge lives in a help center and public URLs, so the missing connectors do not matter
You want a public trust portal to hand a security reviewer
❌
Don't choose Freshdesk if:
Your knowledge lives in Notion, Confluence or Google Docs
You want the AI to learn from the tickets your team already answered
You need the copilot too, since that is a second $29 per agent line on Pro and above
You want a bill that does not move as the AI handles more sessions
TL;DR: We are the AI agent, with no inbox of our own, that you add to the Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias or HubSpot you move to, trained on your help center, docs, URLs and past tickets, at about $0.10 a ticket that does not rise as the resolution rate does.
I am one of the founders of My AskAI, so I cannot be impartial here. We score 58/80 and place third of eight. We run natively inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias and HubSpot, and we do not run inside Featurebase.
My AskAI homepage: 'AI customer service agent within your helpdesk, only $0.10 per ticket' with customer logos and a demo button.
On G2, My AskAI scores 4.5/5 from 23 reviews. Reviewers describe the agent answering a large share of requests with little tweaking once the knowledge base is synced, and deflection climbing from there.
How does My AskAI replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
It does not replace them. Your team works in the helpdesk it moves to, and we add the answering layer inside it, installed as an approved marketplace app or an API integration. We recommend the app, because the helpdesk has reviewed it and knows it is there.
The AI Copilot Chrome Extension is our copilot for agents. It is included on every plan with no per-seat charge.
How easy is it to set up My AskAI and migrate off Featurebase?
A Featurebase leaver picks a helpdesk first, then adds us. That order is the reason for the 7.
Once the helpdesk is in place, setup is connecting it, syncing your knowledge and choosing whether the agent replies directly or drafts internal notes first.
What knowledge sources can I train My AskAI on?
We score 9, the top of this row. Your help center, website sync, PDF and Word uploads, custom answers, and connectors for Google Drive, Notion, OneDrive, Confluence and Salesforce knowledge pages. Plus historic tickets, which nobody else in this set reads for the customer-facing agent.
If you have no help center yet, Train on Historic Tickets drafts starter knowledge from your last 5,000 tickets by default (more on request). Live back-end data comes in through the User Data API.
What features does My AskAI have?
Autonomous replies in whatever channels your helpdesk routes to us. Tasks and Tools handle multi-step actions such as refunds and cancellations, and each action either runs on its own or proposes and waits for your approval (your call, per action). Guidance rules in plain language control tone, scenarios and handovers.
AI Tagging classifies the incoming message, native in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk and Freshchat. Image Reading handles screenshots, Insights covers every conversation, and Multibrand gives you separate agents per brand.
How does My AskAI improve over time?
Ask Echo, the operator agent inside the dashboard, why the AI gave any answer and which source it used. Echo also writes and edits Guidance, manages custom answers and converts your SOPs into Tasks.
Self-Learning drafts new knowledge articles each week by comparing our reply to the human's reply on handed-over tickets. Insights groups every conversation into topics and scores all of them for AI CSAT, so the gaps show up on their own.
How secure is My AskAI?
SOC 2 Type II and GDPR. Customer data is never used for model training, never sold and never used outside that customer's own tickets.
Each customer gets an isolated container, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. The SOC 2 report is available on Scale and Enterprise.
How mature is My AskAI?
The 6 is about sheer scale next to the big platforms. More than 200 ecommerce and SaaS businesses run us, and our agents have resolved over 1,000,000 tickets. The rolling 30-day resolution rate across our customer base is 72% or better (we count a conversation as resolved when the AI handled it without escalating to a human).
How much does My AskAI cost?
Pro is $199 a month with 1,000 credits and $0.12 per credit after. Scale is $499 with 2,000 credits, $0.10 after, unlimited team seats and branding removal (most of our customers sit here). Enterprise starts at $999 with all usage at $0.10.
A chat ticket works out at about $0.10 and an email ticket at about $0.15. You pay per ticket the AI works, so the bill does not climb as the agent gets better. We bill usage-based add-ons such as AI Tagging, AI Actions, Tasks and Live Translation only when they are used.
Prove it before you pay. Our 30-day trial unlocks every feature on unlimited tickets, with no card.
Who is using My AskAI?
RecruitCRM, a SaaS recruitment platform on Intercom, reaches 68% AI resolution across roughly 1,088 conversations a month, saving 62 hours at 75% AI CSAT. TravelJoy, a travel-advisor platform on Zendesk, reaches 80% (up from 24% with Zendesk's own AI).
YouGarden, an online garden center on Freshdesk, reaches 66% with peaks near 82% across roughly 12,000 tickets a month. Barn Owl, a Shopify hardware brand on Gorgias, replaced Gorgias' native AI and runs at 47% with 80% AI CSAT. We publish all four case studies on our blog with the full numbers.
Where My AskAI loses to Featurebase and the alternatives
Featurebase, Intercom, Freshdesk and Help Scout are the inbox. We are the AI half only, so a team with no helpdesk needs one before we are an option.
Fibi answers from live roadmap and changelog state, and Featurebase bundles feedback boards, a roadmap and a changelog that nobody else in this set ships. A team that wants product feedback and support in one tool gets that from Featurebase alone.
Intercom's compliance grid runs to ISO 27001, ISO 42001 and HIPAA, and Fin answers on the phone. A regulated buyer or a voice-heavy team should shortlist Intercom on those rows.
✅
Choose My AskAI if:
You are moving to Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot and the AI is the remaining decision
You want the agent trained on your help center, Notion, Google Drive, Confluence and the tickets your team already answered
You want predictable pricing, at about $0.10 a ticket with no per-resolution meter
You want to prove it on your own tickets for 30 days before paying anything
❌
Don't choose My AskAI if:
You are staying on Featurebase for support, since we do not run inside it
You need the inbox, the help center and the feedback boards from one vendor
Your procurement team requires ISO 27001 or HIPAA from the AI vendor
TL;DR: Help Scout is the simplest migration here: a 15-day trial on Standard/Plus, per-user seats from $25/month billed annually and AI Answers at $0.75 a resolution. It suits an email-first team that wants a calm inbox and is fine with AI Answers drawing only on Docs sites and public sites/documents.
Help Scout scores 58/80 and sits fourth on the tie-break. The shared inbox is the product, and everything else hangs off it (Docs, Beacon and the AI features included). It is the easiest move on this list for a team whose volume arrives by email.
Help Scout homepage hero: 'The most intuitive customer support platform' with three feature cards including 'AI that multiplies your team'.
How does Help Scout replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Well, for an email-led team (less so for one leaning on chat or social). One tool combines a shared inbox, a knowledge base called Docs, a widget called Beacon and the AI features. SLAs are in, SMS runs through an integration, and WhatsApp, Messenger and Instagram sit on all paid plans.
A Customer Portal is on Plus and Pro. There is no phone line.
How easy is it to set up Help Scout and migrate off Featurebase?
The fastest human migration in the set, in my experience. Help Scout's own line is that you can learn the platform in less than an hour, and the pricing page gives you 15 days to test drive a plan with "no credit card required". New accounts also get three months of unlimited AI Answers resolutions free (existing customers do not).
What knowledge sources can I train Help Scout on?
Help Scout's AI Answers docs say: "Add your Help Scout Docs sites and other publicly available sites and documents." PDFs, Word and Excel files come in through website sources.
AI Answers draws only on Help Scout Docs sites and public sites/documents, and there is no Notion or Confluence connector.
What features does Help Scout have?
AI Answers is the customer-facing agent, deployed through Beacon and email. AI Drafts writes replies for agents, AI Summarize condenses long threads, and AI Topics on Plus and Pro groups conversations (there is a Help Scout MCP for connecting AI tools, too). Help Scout's AI features page says "Companies average a 73.19% resolution rate with AI Answers".
How does Help Scout improve over time?
The AI Sessions list shows every session by outcome: contact helped, contact unhelped, or escalated to a human. It is a useful view, and fixing what it shows is manual, because the agent learns only from Docs and public pages.
How secure is Help Scout?
SOC 2 Type II and GDPR, with HIPAA on the Pro plan under a signed BAA. Help Scout's security page states that it "maintains ongoing compliance with the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA)".
How mature is Help Scout?
Founded in 2011, used by more than 12,000 businesses and a certified B Corp. It has run an inbox for fifteen years.
How much does Help Scout cost?
Standard $25, Plus $45 and Pro $75 per user a month on annual billing. AI Answers is an add-on at $0.75 per resolution, and the pricing page says you "Pay per resolution on a monthly basis."
That is the second-highest per-resolution rate in this post, after Intercom's $0.99 per outcome, so I score a clear price list an 8.
Who is using Help Scout?
Litmus, OnePageCRM and TeamSnap all have published stories on Help Scout's customers page. They are inbox stories, with the AI features in the background (fun fact: the page also carries a switcher who says Intercom onboarding was quoted at six months and Help Scout did it in a day).
✅
Choose Help Scout if:
Most of your volume arrives by email and you want a calm inbox with a docs site attached
You want to be live within a day on a 15-day trial with no card
You are a new account, so three months of AI Answers come free
Your procurement team needs HIPAA and you can pay for Pro
❌
Don't choose Help Scout if:
You want the AI to learn from the tickets your team already answered
Your knowledge lives in Notion or Confluence
You need a phone channel
$0.75 per resolution at your volume is the bill you are trying to escape
TL;DR: Zoho Desk is the only vendor here with no per-resolution line at all. AI is bundled into a $40-an-agent Enterprise seat, on an agent (Zia) whose Answer Bot answers from your published knowledge base articles, and publishes no autonomous resolution rate.
Zoho Desk scores 54/80 and is the answer for a buyer who wants the AI bill to disappear as a line item. If you already pay for Zoho, it slots in beside everything else (and almost every Zoho Desk buyer I meet already does).
Zoho Desk homepage hero: 'AI help desk software made human-simple' with a Signup for Free button and an illustrated Zia Insights panel.
On G2, Zoho Desk scores 4.4/5 from 7,133 reviews, with Zia reviewed inside that main profile. Reviewers there note Zia's generative features are bundled into the seat rather than billed as a separate extra.
How does Zoho Desk replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Fully. Zoho Desk is ticket-first, with email and social on every paid plan, live chat from Standard and, from the Professional plan, phone. It scores 8 because the inbox is deep and the interface is dense (a team used to Featurebase's simpler screens will feel the difference).
How easy is it to set up Zoho Desk and migrate off Featurebase?
A 15-day trial and a documented import for a knowledge base. The 6 is for how Zoho-shaped everything is. The fastest path assumes Zoho CRM, Zoho SalesIQ and the rest of the suite.
A team outside that world sets more up by hand.
What knowledge sources can I train Zoho Desk on?
Answer Bot answers from your published Zoho Desk knowledge base rather than past tickets. Zoho's Zia page describes an agent that "uses your knowledge base to deliver quick responses to customers across your website and messaging channels". It reads no URLs, files or past tickets, so I score it 5.
What features does Zoho Desk have?
Answer Bot for customers, plus a set of Zia agents for support specialists and resolution work. Zia adds ticket summaries, sentiment analysis, reply assistance and writing help for agents. Zoho has moved the AI down the tiers, so AI Agents start on Express and Answer Bot from Standard, with Guided Conversations on Enterprise (a welcome change from the old Enterprise-only gate).
How does Zoho Desk improve over time?
Reply quality tracks the completeness of the knowledge base, and the fix is writing more articles. There is no self-learning from agent replies and no simulation (Zoho's own in-house Zia model is listed as coming soon).
How secure is Zoho Desk?
Zoho's Zia page states that it will "never use our customers data to train our AI model and are compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA". The wider Zoho group holds the usual large-vendor certifications. The 7 is because the AI page states compliance without listing an audit report.
How mature is Zoho Desk?
Part of Zoho, one of the largest private software companies in the world, with a huge installed base. The 9 is about the company, because Zia's customer-facing agent is younger than the ticketing product around it.
How much does Zoho Desk cost?
Enterprise runs about $40 an agent a month billed annually, with Zia Answer Bot and the AI assistant included in the seat and Zia Agents drawing on a credit allowance (30,000 free credits on Enterprise). There is no billable AI unit, so the cost row scores 9. Your bill depends on head count only.
Who is using Zoho Desk?
SysGroup is Zoho's published IT-services story, and it names Zia: "SysGroup implemented Zoho Desk to unify its support operations and leverage the platform's advanced AI assistant, Zia".
✅
Choose Zoho Desk if:
You want no per-resolution or per-conversation AI line on the invoice at all
You already run Zoho CRM or Zoho One and want support in the same suite
Your knowledge lives in a published knowledge base and that is enough
You need telephony inside the helpdesk
❌
Don't choose Zoho Desk if:
You want the AI trained on URLs, files or past tickets
You want a published resolution rate to hold the vendor to
You are outside the Zoho ecosystem and want a light setup
You want the agent to improve without somebody writing articles
TL;DR: Chatbase is the fastest to stand up, with an agent live in minutes, paid plans from $40 a month. Its credit meter charges per response, resolved or not, the self-serve ladder stops at five seats, and the agent goes silent when credits run out unless auto-recharge is on.
Chatbase scores 51/80 and is the solo-founder pick. Point it at your website, and it answers customers before lunch. The five-seat ceiling and the credit meter are what you meet as the team and the volume grow.
Chatbase homepage hero: 'Conversational agents for customer experience' with a 4.8 G2 rating and a Data sources panel listing files and URLs.
On G2, Chatbase scores 4.7/5 from 14 reviews. Reviewers there describe pointing Chatbase at a website URL and having it crawl and answer on its own, in a conversational, ChatGPT-like style.
How does Chatbase replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Partly. Standard and above include a Help Desk module, so there is somewhere for humans to work. I call it a thin inbox next to Intercom or Freshdesk, though escalation can also create tickets in Zendesk, Salesforce, Intercom, Freshdesk, Zoho Desk, HubSpot and Gorgias.
How easy is it to set up Chatbase and migrate off Featurebase?
Under ten minutes, with no code. Crawl the website, upload files, deploy the widget. I gave it the only 10 on this row, and a Featurebase help center comes in as a crawl.
What knowledge sources can I train Chatbase on?
Files (PDF, TXT, DOC, DOCX), pasted text, a website crawl, Q&A pairs and Notion. Auto Retrain runs every 24 hours on Standard and Pro. No past tickets, which is the gap between 7 and our 9.
What features does Chatbase have?
An autonomous agent with AI Actions for Stripe, Shopify, Zendesk and others, multi-channel deployment, a choice of underlying models, and analytics. There is no visual flow builder and no pre-launch simulation. Voice arrives on Standard.
How does Chatbase improve over time?
Auto Retrain picks up changes to your sources daily, and the analytics show what the agent answered. Improvement beyond that is editing sources and Q&A pairs by hand. It scores 7 because the daily retrain runs on its own and the learning needs a person (I count that as half a loop).
How secure is Chatbase?
Chatbase's security page describes a "GDPR & SOC 2 compliant conversational AI platform". A HIPAA BAA is Enterprise-only (so not on any of the three published plans).
How mature is Chatbase?
A fast-moving company whose plan ladder changed once between July and late August 2026 (the current $40/$150/$500 tiers). The 5 is about that churn, and the software itself is solid.
How much does Chatbase cost?
The Chatbase pricing page lists "Hobby $40 per month" with 700 credits and 2 members, "Standard Popular $150 per month" with 4,000 credits and 3 members, and "Pro $500 per month" with 15,000 credits and 5 members. The Chatbase FAQ explains the meter: "Each response from your AI Agent consumes credits based on the AI model used", between one and six credits a response.
At zero credits the agent stops unless auto-recharge is on, at $40 per 1,000. On the cheapest model Chatbase can undercut us at high volume. The 5 is about predictability.
Who is using Chatbase?
Aplazo is the published story, a Mexican fintech reporting a 2.2x lift in merchant closed-won deals from its agent. The same page carries a quote from J Force.
✅
Choose Chatbase if:
You are a founder or a team of one to five and want an agent live today
Your knowledge is a website and a folder of files
You want to pick the underlying model yourself
You are happy to top up credits and watch the meter
❌
Don't choose Chatbase if:
Your team will pass five seats
You cannot have the agent go silent when credits hit zero
You want the AI trained on past tickets
You need a mature inbox for the humans on the team
TL;DR: Crisp is the closest like-for-like: EU-hosted, flat workspace pricing from $45, Hugo AI at a few cents a conversation. It suits a small team that wants one cheap all-in-one and can live without a SOC 2 audit and without AI that learns from resolved conversations.
Crisp scores 50/80. Like Featurebase it is a whole platform: widget, inbox, help center and an AI agent called Hugo, priced per workspace (a growing team adds people without adding cost). For a European team on a small budget it is the natural comparison.
Crisp homepage hero: 'Augment your customer experience. AI made to support your team & customers.' with a Get your AI Agent button.
On G2, Crisp scores 4.5/5 from 194 reviews. Reviewers there describe Hugo's response quality as impressive, freeing them to delegate time-consuming tasks to the AI.
How does Crisp replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Fully, for a small team. Crisp's inbox covers chat, email, WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger in one place.
The AI features are missing from the mobile app, and Zendesk and Intercom are absent from its integrations page, so it is an all-or-nothing platform. I hold it at 7 for that.
How easy is it to set up Crisp and migrate off Featurebase?
A 14-day trial with no card, and a documented knowledge base importer that names Freshdesk, Front, Gorgias, GrooveHQ, Help Scout, HubSpot, Intercom, LiveAgent and Zendesk as sources. Featurebase is not on that list, so a Featurebase help center comes across as a website crawl or by hand.
What knowledge sources can I train Crisp on?
Knowledge base articles, Q&A snippets, website content, files and instructions. Crisp's own help center draws the line on conversations: "Hugo does not automatically learn from resolved conversations over time." Your archive stays unread, and I score that 6.
What features does Crisp have?
Hugo answers customers on its own and works as a copilot in the sidebar. Routing rules, a chatbot builder and campaigns sit alongside. Voice is absent, and the AI does not follow you onto mobile (a surprise for a chat-first product).
How does Crisp improve over time?
Manually. Each recurring question becomes a snippet or an article somebody writes. With no learning from resolved conversations and no simulation, the improvement loop is the weakest on the board, at 4.
How secure is Crisp?
Data is hosted in the EU, in the Netherlands and Germany, with Crisp's own model running in Paris. Crisp's SOC 2 status article says: "Please note that Crisp hasn't been over any SOC2 audit but we wish to show we are fully compliant with these specific needs."
The same article says "We don't provide any SLA's or any contract". On ISO 27001, Crisp describes itself as aligning with the standard, without certification.
How mature is Crisp?
An established SMB messaging player with a large widget footprint and a long history. The AI layer is newer than the platform.
How much does Crisp cost?
The Crisp pricing page lists Mini at "$45 Per month, per workspace" with 4 seats and "$ 5 included AI credits", described as "Around 90 automated conversations". Essentials is $95 with 10 seats and $25 of credits, and Plus is $295 with 20+ seats and $75. Hugo then runs at roughly $0.05 to $0.10 a conversation, billed on engagement (the flat workspace price is why it scores 8).
Who is using Crisp?
Crisp publishes a testimonials page with customer cards, and positions around small and mid-sized SaaS and ecommerce teams. It does not publish named AI case studies with numbers the way Intercom or Help Scout do.
✅
Choose Crisp if:
You want a widget, inbox, help center and AI from one vendor at a flat workspace price
Your data must stay inside the EU
Your team is small enough that 4 or 10 seats covers it
A few cents a conversation is the AI bill you can live with
❌
Don't choose Crisp if:
Your procurement team requires a SOC 2 report or a contractual SLA
You want the AI to learn from the conversations your team already resolved
Your agents work from mobile and need the AI there too
You are keeping Zendesk or Intercom for anything, since Crisp does not connect to either
TL;DR: Customerly mirrors Featurebase's bill, at $19 to $99 a seat plus $0.45 per AI conversation. It bills Aura on participation, sets no AI usage cap, and does not learn from past conversations.
Customerly scores 47/80 and sits last. It is an EU-hosted all-in-one for SaaS teams with chat, email, a help center and an AI agent called Aura (Crisp is the only other vendor here hosting in the EU by default). The pricing model is the closest to Featurebase in this post.
Customerly homepage hero: 'The AI agent that actually resolves tickets' with a Get a Demo button and customer logos.
How does Customerly replace Featurebase's inbox and Tickets?
Fully, at the small-team scale. Chat, email, WhatsApp and in-app messaging land in one inbox, with a help center attached (WhatsApp being a channel Featurebase does not carry). It is a compact product.
How easy is it to set up Customerly and migrate off Featurebase?
A 14-day trial and a documented set of migration guides to "move from other providers like Intercom, Zendesk, Hubspot, Drift or Crisp". Featurebase is not on the list, so the help center comes in by hand. I still score it 8, because the product is small and the path is short.
What knowledge sources can I train Customerly on?
Help center articles, mainly. Customerly's docs say Aura is "not designed to directly learn from past conversations", and describe website crawling as not recommended. The narrowest source list here, at 4 (Fibi reads more, since it also sees roadmap and changelog state).
What features does Customerly have?
Aura answers customers on chat and email, alongside canned responses, workflows and in-app surveys. Customerly's pricing page publishes a "71% Actual Average Resolution Rate with Aura" (a higher figure than Fibi's own self-measured 65%, per Featurebase's changelog).
How does Customerly improve over time?
By editing the help center. There is no self-learning and no simulation (the same manual loop as Crisp). Customerly's own docs confirm there is no way to stop the meter while you fix things: "the Customerly platform does not provide a direct feature to set a usage cap specifically for AI operations".
How secure is Customerly?
GDPR, with data on AWS in the EU (the same hosting story as Crisp, without Crisp's Paris-hosted model). Customerly's security page states: "Customerly does not currently hold a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 certification of its own."
How mature is Customerly?
A stable, focused product with a handful of public customers.
How much does Customerly cost?
The Customerly pricing page lists Core at $19, Growth at "$ 69 per seat/monthly" and Ultimate at $99 a seat, with 10, 20 and 50 AI conversations included in turn. After that it is "$0.45 Additional AI Conversation".
The meter counts Aura's participation, so a conversation the AI could not finish still bills. I make that about $1,441 a month at 3,000 conversations, the third-highest line in the cost table. The per-conversation price is clear; the monthly total takes a calculator.
Who is using Customerly?
TeamSystem and Nibol are the two SaaS stories Customerly publishes on its success-stories page.
✅
Choose Customerly if:
You want an EU-hosted all-in-one from $19 a seat
Your knowledge is a help center and you are happy to keep it current by hand
Your AI volume is low enough that $0.45 a conversation stays small
You are moving from Intercom, Zendesk, HubSpot, Drift or Crisp and want a documented path
❌
Don't choose Customerly if:
You need a usage cap on the AI bill
You want the AI trained on past conversations or on URLs
Your procurement team requires SOC 2 or ISO 27001
You are leaving Featurebase to escape a seat-plus-per-conversation bill, because this is the same model
What do these Featurebase alternatives actually cost at 3,000 conversations a month?
⚡
TL;DR: At 3,000 conversations and a 65% resolution rate, seat-plus-resolution vendors land between roughly $1,250 and $2,100 a month. Per-ticket is about $600 on top of the helpdesk you keep, and bundled-seat Zoho Desk depends only on head count.
The model assumes 3,000 AI-handled conversations a month, 5 seats, and a 65% resolution rate where the vendor bills per resolution. That 65% is Featurebase's own published fleet average, used here as the common rate. Annual billing applies where a discount exists, and prices are US list.
Vendor
Pricing model
Monthly at 3,000 conversations
Notes
Featurebase (baseline)
Seats plus $0.49 per resolution
~$1,251
5 Professional seats at $59 plus 1,950 resolutions. The full plan detail is in our Featurebase pricing post.
Zoho Desk
Seat only, AI bundled
$200
5 Enterprise seats at $40. Head count is the only variable.
Crisp
Workspace plus per Hugo conversation
~$223 to $350
Essentials at $95 plus 2,550 conversations at $0.05 to $0.10. Bill does not fall when Hugo fails.
My AskAI
Per ticket
~$439
Pro at $199 includes 1,000 credits, then 2,000 more at $0.12. Same total at any resolution rate. Layers onto a helpdesk you pay for separately.
Chatbase
Plan credits per response
~$500
Pro, the first tier with 5 seats. 6,000 credits at one credit a response sits inside the 15,000 allowance.
Freshdesk
Seats plus $0.49 per session
~$1,320
5 Growth seats (billed annually) at $19 plus 2,500 sessions after the 500 included. The 500 free sessions are a one-time allowance, not monthly; sessions bill on interaction.
Customerly
Seats plus $0.45 per AI conversation
~$1,441
5 Core seats at $19 plus 2,990 metered conversations. The meter counts every conversation Aura joins, resolved or not.
Help Scout
Seats plus $0.75 per resolution
~$1,588
5 Standard seats at $25 plus 1,950 resolutions. Bill rises as the AI improves.
Intercom
Seats plus $0.99 per outcome
~$2,076
5 seats at $29 billed annually plus 1,950 outcomes. The 50-outcome minimum is irrelevant at this volume.
At this volume the pricing model sets the bill. Per-resolution and per-outcome vendors put the meter on the thing you want more of, so Featurebase, Help Scout and Intercom all get more expensive as their AI improves.
Process flow showing four pricing mechanics: Featurebase charges per AI resolution, Intercom per outcome, Freshdesk per session, and My AskAI a per-ticket rate from $0.10 that does not rise with AI performance.
Move the common rate from 65% to 75% and those three lines rise by about 15%. Zoho Desk, Chatbase, Crisp and My AskAI do not move at all.
Per-session and per-conversation vendors, meaning Freshdesk and Customerly, charge whether the AI succeeds or fails. A bad month costs the same as a good one.
At very low volume, $0.49 a resolution is a small number, and Featurebase buys you a whole suite for one per-seat price. That is a good deal.
The per-resolution math only starts to bite as volume and automation rate both climb, which is when a per-ticket layer on a real helpdesk starts to pay. Our per-ticket line is identical at 40% resolution and at 80% (so the cost per resolved ticket falls as the agent gets better).
The rows cover two kinds of purchase. Featurebase, Intercom, Freshdesk, Help Scout, Zoho Desk, Chatbase, Crisp and Customerly are helpdesks with AI attached, while My AskAI is an AI layer on top of a helpdesk you pay for separately. Compare AI charge against AI charge, and treat the seats as common to both sides.
Our ROI calculator does the math per helpdesk. The 30-day free trial lets you run the real numbers on your own tickets, with every feature unlocked and no card.
Which Featurebase alternative is best?
⚡
TL;DR: Intercom if you want the deepest inbox and can carry per-outcome billing, Freshdesk for the cheapest mature seat, Help Scout for an email-first team, and Zoho Desk if you already pay Zoho. Crisp or Customerly suit an EU all-in-one on a small budget, and Chatbase a solo founder. Pick one of those helpdesks and add My AskAI when the AI bill is the thing you want to stop growing.
I put Intercom first. It takes 66 out of 80 and wins four rows outright while sharing a fifth. It is the only product here with a top-tier inbox, a top-tier AI agent and a compliance grid a regulated buyer can sign off, all from one vendor.
Three headline stats: Intercom scores 83% overall (66 of 80), monthly AI cost spans a 10x range across the 8 vendors, and My AskAI starts from $0.10 per ticket as an add-on layer.
The objection is cost. Paying $0.99 per outcome on top of seats is the most expensive arrangement in this post, and it gets worse as volume climbs.
If the per-resolution bill is why you are leaving, Freshdesk answers it at 59 out of 80. The AI agent starts on the $19 Growth plan with 500 sessions included, and the platform has been an inbox for a decade.
Help Scout is my pick for a small team that mostly answers email and wants a docs site alongside the inbox. Zoho Desk suits a Zoho customer who wants the AI line to vanish from the invoice. A European buyer on a small budget who wants everything in one place gets Crisp or Customerly, neither of which holds a SOC 2 audit.
Chatbase suits a founder who wants an agent live today. Either way, you are picking a helpdesk first.
When the AI is the thing you want to fix, the sequence is different. Move to Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot for the inbox, then put a dedicated AI layer on top of it. That is where we come in, at about $0.10 a ticket, trained on your help center, docs and past tickets.
Zendesk and Intercom are our biggest integrations, so those two are the well-trodden routes.
Which Featurebase alternatives cover the feedback boards?
⚡
TL;DR: Featurebase built its name on the feedback boards, and on that half we are a paying customer: we moved off Canny and run our own board, roadmap and changelog on it. The tools that compete there are Canny, Productboard, UserVoice, Nolt and Frill, none of which carries an inbox or an AI agent.
Featurebase built its name on boards, roadmaps and changelogs, and most of its own comparison pages target that market.
We use Featurebase for that half. Our public feedback portal, roadmap and changelog run on it, and Featurebase lists us on its customers page. We moved there from Canny, which we found expensive for simple features.
The automated migration from Canny had our portal live in about an hour. Since switching, we think Featurebase is the better feedback tool at most price points, and it costs less.
That verdict covers the feedback product. We do not use the inbox or Fibi.
If you are shopping the feedback half, the tools that compete are:
Canny, which describes itself as an AI-powered customer feedback platform that captures, analyzes and prioritizes feedback. It is where we came from.
Productboard, which positions as an agentic product management system built for product makers, so it reaches further into planning than a feedback board.
UserVoice, whose pitch is turning customer feedback into revenue decisions.
Frill, an ideas board, public roadmap, announcements, in-app surveys and widget in one feedback platform.
Nolt, a lightweight feedback board.
None of the five carries an inbox or an AI agent that answers customers. Featurebase's Zendesk, Intercom and HubSpot integrations keep the boards fed whichever helpdesk you pick, and our complete guide to Featurebase goes deeper on the feedback product.
FAQs
Is Featurebase a reliable company?
Featurebase was founded at the end of 2020 and is based in Tallinn, Estonia. It is bootstrapped and profitable, with no outside funding round on record. Its security FAQ covers SOC 2 Type II and EU-only hosting in the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland, and its homepage cites more than 1,500 customers.
Featurebase vs Canny: which is better?
For the feedback boards, we picked Featurebase, and we still pay for it. We ran our feedback portal on Canny first, found it expensive for relatively simple features, and migrated with Featurebase's automated import from Canny.
Canny positions as an AI-powered feedback platform and remains a strong product. Our view covers the feedback half only, since we do not use Featurebase's support inbox or Fibi.
Can I keep Featurebase for feedback and use a different tool for support?
Yes. Featurebase's integrations page shows Zendesk, Intercom and HubSpot connectors that capture feature requests and feedback from those tools, so the boards keep working whichever helpdesk handles support. Fibi is the only piece that cannot leave, because it answers only inside Featurebase's own Messenger, email and Slack.
Which AI support tool gives the best value per conversation?
At 3,000 conversations a month the range in this post runs from $200 for Zoho Desk, where AI is bundled into the seat, to about $2,100 for Intercom at $0.99 an outcome. My AskAI lands near $600 at roughly $0.10 a ticket, on top of the helpdesk you keep. The cheapest line depends on whether the vendor bills per seat, per resolution or per ticket, and per-resolution bills climb as the AI improves.
What resolution rate should I expect from AI customer support?
The median across the 195 deployments in our AI resolution rate benchmark study sits near 70%, with the caveat that vendors measure differently. Featurebase's own changelog reports a 65% fleet-wide rate for Fibi, self-measured. Across our own customer base the rolling 30-day rate is 72% or better, counting a conversation as resolved when the AI handled it without escalating to a human.
Which customer self-service platforms go live in days instead of hundreds of setup hours?
Chatbase is live in minutes from a website crawl. Help Scout runs a 15-day trial with no card and, by its own account, can be learned in under an hour.
Customerly and My AskAI follow, with our 30-day trial needing no card, and Featurebase itself offers a 10-day trial with no card. The slower paths are Intercom and Zoho Desk, where the time goes into tuning and configuration.
