My AskAI vs Zoho Desk Zia: Features, Pricing, and Results (2026)
Zoho bundles Zia into every paid Desk plan with no resolution fee, but publishes no resolution rate. My AskAI vs Zoho Desk on price, training and results.
Mike is an experienced Product Manager who focuses on all the “non-development” areas of My AskAI, from finance and customer success to product design, copywriting, testing and more.
Zoho Desk is a full omnichannel helpdesk whose AI, Zia, comes bundled into the seat price of whichever tier you pick, with no per-resolution charge. My AskAI is a standalone AI agent for teams who picked their helpdesk separately, and Zoho Desk is not one of the five it supports. Buy Zia if you are already committed to the Zoho stack and cost per seat decides it. Buy a dedicated agent if you need a published number for what the AI actually closes.
You're on a Zoho Desk plan that already includes AI, and now you're trying to work out whether that's a bargain or a trap.
Zia is free at the point of use, and Zoho will not tell you how well it works.
I'm Mike, one of the co-founders of My AskAI, so I have a stake in this. Zoho takes three of the eleven scored categories below, price outright among them, and I haven't tried to argue you out of any of them.
We help 200+ ecommerce and SaaS businesses run AI customer service, and our agents have now resolved more than 1,000,000 tickets.
What AI can I use to reply in Zoho Desk?
Zia inside a Zoho Desk ticket, shown as “Zia Powered by GPT” in the agent's ticket view
⚡
TL;DR: Zoho Desk gives you Zia, an umbrella covering Answer Bot, Reply Assistant and the newer Zia Agents. Each unlocks at a different tier, and none of them bills you per resolution. Ours is a separate AI agent that runs on your website or inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias or HubSpot, and it does not plug into Zoho Desk.
"Zia" is one brand stretched over six different products, and Zoho's marketing runs them together.
Zia proper is the set of assist features built into Desk: sentiment scoring, auto-tagging, ticket summaries, reply drafting. Ask Zia is the conversational answer engine, and Answer Bot is the knowledge-base chatbot you can put in front of customers (it's the only piece of Zia your customers ever talk to). Zia Agents, Agent Studio and the Agent Marketplace are the newer autonomous-agent layer.
Zia LLM is Zoho's own in-house model, and Zia GenAI is the generative layer underneath the assist features. In a demo you'll hear all six called "Zia", so I'd ask which one you're actually being shown.
Two of those are less finished than the marketing suggests. As of 23 July 2026, Zia LLM still reads "COMING SOON" on its own page, more than six months past the end-of-2025 general availability Zoho announced for it in July 2025.
Vertical timeline of Zoho's Zia AI roadmap from the July 2025 announcement to July 2026, showing the in-house Zia LLM still marked coming soon
Two Desk agents are live, Support Specialist and Resolution Expert, but only in Zoho's India and US data centers. Sentiment Analyst and Quality Manager are still marked "Coming Soon", though Agent Studio itself is generally available.
Zoho's Zia Agents page: the two generally-available Desk agents, both limited to the India and US data centres
Packaging changed in 2026 and a lot of write-ups haven't caught up, ours included: Zia is no longer an Enterprise-tier feature.
On Zoho's live pricing page, AI Agents now appear from the Express tier with "up to 30M free tokens/month", Answer Bot from Standard, the built-in Zia AI capabilities from Professional, and only Guided Conversations is held back to Enterprise. In US dollars, billed annually, those tiers run $7, $14, $23 and $40 per agent per month.
If you read somewhere that you need Enterprise to get any AI in Zoho Desk, that was true last year and isn't now. That includes our own Zoho Desk pricing breakdown and Zoho Zia guide, both of which we're updating.
How do I add AI to my customer support without replacing my helpdesk?
My AskAI is a different kind of product. It's a dedicated AI support agent you point at your knowledge, then run either through our own web widget on your site and help center or natively inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias or HubSpot. It isn't a helpdesk itself.
My AskAI does not integrate with Zoho Desk. There's no Zoho Marketplace app, no plugin, no queue-native deployment.
For a Zoho Desk shop, the realistic My AskAI deployment is our widget on your website and help center, catching questions before they ever become a ticket. Do you buy your AI from the same vendor as your helpdesk, or do you pick the helpdesk and the AI separately?
Zoho's 4.4 covers the whole helpdesk, with Zia reviewed inside it as one feature among ticketing, workflows, automation and price. Our 4.5 is for the AI agent itself, because that's the entire product.
How does an AI customer service agent work in Zoho Desk?
⚡
TL;DR: Both retrieve from your knowledge and generate a reply, then hand off when they can't answer. Zia's Answer Bot retrieves from published Zoho Desk knowledge-base articles only. My AskAI retrieves across eleven connectors plus your past tickets, and can call your own APIs mid-conversation.
Underneath, both work the same way. A question arrives, the AI searches the knowledge it has been given, and it writes a grounded answer instead of matching a keyword to a canned response (which is the actual difference between an AI agent and the decision-tree bots you may have used before). The size of the pool it searches, and what it's allowed to do once it has an answer, is where they separate.
Zoho's Answer Bot is the customer-facing piece, and Zoho is specific about where it gets its answers. Its own help-center FAQ says Answer Bot "retrieves its responses directly from the knowledge base that you have set up in Zoho Desk", and the same page describes the fallback as being "triggered when the bot can't understand a query or find a resource in the knowledge base".
You set the retrieval strictness yourself when you create the bot, choosing a confidence threshold of Exact, Confident or Possible. That dial is more transparent than most vendors give you.
The Zia Agents layer works the same way with a different engine. Zoho's Zia Agents FAQ confirms the agents run on GPT-4.1 Mini (worth knowing if a data-residency requirement is what's driving your evaluation); the in-house Zia LLM that the data-sovereignty marketing leads with is a separate thing, and it hasn't shipped.
The same FAQ describes the Support Specialist as using the knowledge base "to provide accurate answers to common customer queries". When it has nothing suitable, Zoho documents exactly what happens: it "leaves a private comment, and un-assigns itself so a human agent can take over."
Zoho answers the chatbot-versus-agent question in writing. The same FAQ states that Zia Agents "do not replace human agents; they augment the existing ticket owners." I'd scope your expectations to that line, not to the autonomous-agent marketing around it.
What's the difference between an AI chatbot and an AI agent?
A chatbot retrieves and replies. An agent is supposed to be able to finish the job, including doing something in another system when finishing the job requires it. On Zoho's telling, the Desk agents sit closer to the first.
My AskAI is built for the second. It retrieves across your help center, your website, uploaded files, custom Q&A pairs and connected cloud sources, on top of knowledge it has learned from your past tickets, and when a question needs live data or a real action it calls your systems through Tools and multi-step Tasks written in plain English, no decision trees.
We run it on a suite of models, predominantly OpenAI with Anthropic and Google used where they win on a specific job. When it can't answer, or when the customer asks for a person, it hands over with a written summary of the conversation so your agent doesn't make the customer repeat themselves.
What are the different ways I can use an AI agent in Zoho Desk?
⚡
TL;DR: Zia is strongest in assist mode, drafting replies for a human to approve. My AskAI does the same and adds an internal-notes mode that drafts every reply as a private note, so you can measure the AI against your own team before a customer ever sees it.
Direct replies
On the Zoho side, direct customer replies come from Answer Bot, deployed on your Help Center, in the ASAP widget inside your app or site, and on chat through Zoho SalesIQ. SalesIQ runs its own separate Answer Bot, same brand but a different product with its own configuration, so plan the rollout for two bots.
On our side, direct replies happen either in our web widget or natively inside the helpdesk, answering in that helpdesk's own chat, messaging and email channels as your agent. For a Zoho Desk team, only the widget path is available, which is a real constraint on what you can expect from us.
Copilot replies
Both products draft for humans. Zia's Reply Assistant writes an initial response the agent reviews and sends, and the clearest description of it in the wild comes from a Zoho customer.
"We implemented a 'level zero response' where Zia automatically formulates an initial email response for new tickets. Agents then validate these drafts before sending, which saves a significant amount of time. Zia also provides sentiment analysis for incoming tickets, flagging them with a 'happy face' or 'unhappy face' based on the customer's tone."
Mark Spear, Head of Business Transformation at SysGroup, a UK IT services business handling 2,000 to 3,000 tickets a month, in Zoho's own case study.
That's what Zia is currently best at, and the human-in-the-loop step is deliberate. Our version is the AI Copilot Chrome Extension, which works inside any of our integrated helpdesks with no per-seat charge and is included on every plan.
Internal note replies
This mode is ours alone, and I recommend it to anyone nervous about pointing an AI at live customers. In internal-notes mode the AI drafts a full reply on every single ticket and posts it as a private note the customer never sees.
A screenshot of the My AskAI agent within Intercom replying in notes mode to a user question.
You run it silently alongside your existing setup for a couple of weeks and compare its drafts against what your team actually sent. You get a real quality measurement on your real tickets before a single customer-facing message goes out.
Zia has no equivalent that we've found. The Support Specialist's fallback leaves a private comment, but only when the agent has nothing useful to say, so there's nothing there to grade.

Which is easier to setup, Zoho Desk or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zia is faster for a team already on Zoho Desk, because it's a toggle in a product you already run. The gate is content: Zoho recommends 30 published articles per department before Answer Bot is useful, and knowledge sync takes up to an hour. My AskAI is roughly 10 to 15 minutes and trains on what you already have, including past tickets.
If you're already on Zoho Desk, Zia is quick to switch on. It's a settings path: Setup, then Zia, then Answer Bot, name it, choose whether agents or customers see it, pick your channels, set the confidence threshold, write your welcome and fallback messages, save. No procurement, no new vendor, no second invoice.
The gate is what has to exist before that toggle does anything. I'd check that before I touched the settings.
Zoho's help center says "for the best results, 30 articles per department is recommended", and knowledge-base sync can take up to 60 minutes. If your knowledge lives in resolved tickets and people's heads, and not in 30 polished public articles per department, Zia has nothing to retrieve from and the toggle opens onto an empty room.
Configuration beyond the basics has its own drag. On Capterra, a System Engineer called ABHAYA S., writing in August 2025, describes what you'd expect from any helpdesk with this much surface area:
"steep learning curve — especially when configuring advanced workflows or custom modules"
My AskAI takes roughly 10 to 15 minutes with no developer: sign up, connect your knowledge sources, and either drop the widget on your site or install our app from your helpdesk's marketplace. The knowledge prerequisite is much softer, because we can train on your last 5,000 resolved tickets by default and auto-draft starter articles from them.

If the reason your AI project stalled is that nobody has time to write 30 articles per department, training on the tickets you already resolved is how you start from what you have. Teams moving over to us from another AI agent are usually fully live inside a day.

How do My AskAI and Zia differ in what they can be trained on?
⚡
TL;DR: This is the widest gap in the comparison. Answer Bot trains on published Zoho Desk knowledge-base articles, and Zia cannot train directly on raw past tickets. My AskAI connects Google Drive, Notion, Confluence, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox, Salesforce, Shopify, your website and your ticket history.
'Static' content
Static knowledge is the written material describing how your business works: help articles, policy documents, product pages, internal runbooks. Zia's static pool is your Zoho Desk knowledge base, and for Answer Bot specifically that's the only source. If a document lives in Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint or a shared folder, the route in is for a human to rewrite it as a Desk article first.
We connect to Google Drive, Notion, Confluence, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox, Salesforce for knowledge pages, Shopify, and the Zendesk, Intercom and Freshdesk help centers including articles behind a login. You can also sync your website, upload PDFs and DOCX files directly, and write custom Q&A pairs the AI returns word for word, which is what I'd use for anything legal or regulated. Anything you connect can be marked internal-only, so it powers agent-facing answers without ever surfacing to a customer.
A screenshot of the knowledge page in the My AskAI dashboard
'Dynamic' content
Dynamic knowledge is the stuff that changes per customer: order status, plan tier, account balance, ticket history. The two products are strong in different directions here.
Because Desk sits in the Zoho suite, Zia can see data across Zoho CRM, Campaigns and the rest of the shared data model without anyone building an integration. If your company runs on Zoho One, that's a meaningful advantage, and no third-party agent, ours included, replicates it cheaply.
What Zia can't do is learn from your raw ticket history. Its route from tickets to knowledge is Ticket-to-Article: the AI drafts an article out of a resolved ticket, a human reviews and publishes it, and only then can Answer Bot use it.
That's a knowledge-authoring assist. The conversations themselves never become training material.
My AskAI reads your ticket history directly, and reaches live systems through the User Data API and a pre-built Shopify connector so it can answer "where's my order" or "what plan am I on" with the customer's actual order status or plan tier.

Which has better answer quality, Zoho Desk Zia or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zoho publishes no autonomous resolution rate for Zia anywhere. The one performance number it does publish is an accuracy figure, which measures something different. My AskAI publishes a resolution rate and defines how it counts it.
Answer quality on a clean tier-one question is closer than either vendor's marketing implies. Both retrieve from your knowledge and both wrap capable models, so on "what's your return window" or "how do I reset my password", a well-fed Answer Bot and a well-fed My AskAI agent land in a similar place.
The difference shows up when you ask how much of the queue the AI closes without a human, and that's where Zoho goes quiet. On Zoho's Zia page, the Zia Agents page and the pricing page as of 23 July 2026, there is no autonomous resolution rate, deflection rate or automation percentage published on any of them.
Zoho's own language about its Customer Service Agent hedges the same way: it "processes incoming customer requests, understands the context behind them, and either answers them directly or triages them to a human rep." Answering or triaging is a wide range, and the FAQ line about agents augmenting existing ticket owners tells you which end Zoho expects.
Zoho does publish one performance number. Its Answer Bot FAQ says the bot "achieves around 70% accuracy, pulling responses directly from the knowledge base."
Accuracy is not a resolution rate (nor a containment rate), and I see the two swapped constantly. Accuracy asks: when the bot returned an answer, was that answer right? A resolution rate asks what share of everything that arrived got closed without a human touching it.
Side-by-side explanation showing that answer accuracy measures only the answers the bot returned, while a resolution rate measures every conversation that arrived
A bot can be accurate on the narrow slice it chooses to attempt and still send most of your queue to an agent, because the questions it declines never enter the calculation. If you're building a business case, I wouldn't lean on that figure at all: it tells you almost nothing about how many tickets leave your queue.
On our side, My AskAI runs at 72% resolution on a rolling 30-day basis across the whole customer base. Vendor resolution numerators vary wildly. We count a conversation as resolved when the AI handled it without escalating to a human.
That's a deliberately basic signal, and it only holds up because escalation is made easy on purpose. The customer can ask for a person in any number of ways, and the AI hands off when it can't answer, when it detects frustration, or when the ticket hits a topic you've configured for escalation. We don't claim to know an issue was truly solved without the customer confirming it, because you can't.
When an answer comes out oddly, you can ask Echo, our in-dashboard assistant, why the agent replied that way and which knowledge source it used.
Which AI agent is easier to improve over time: Zoho Desk Zia or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zia improves when a person writes a knowledge-base article. Ticket-to-Article drafts one from a resolved ticket and a human publishes it. My AskAI compares its own drafts to what your agent actually sent and writes the knowledge update itself, every week.
Zoho's improvement loop is a human workflow with an AI assist bolted to the front: Ticket-to-Article drafts, someone on your team edits and publishes, and the next sync hands it to Answer Bot.
It works. It also means the rate at which Zia gets better is set by how much time your team can give to knowledge authoring, which in most support teams is the first thing to get cut in a busy month.
Zoho takes a point here. Ticket-to-Article writes into your actual Zoho Desk knowledge base, so the improvement is visible to every customer browsing your help center as well as to the bot. My AskAI's Self-Learning updates the agent's own knowledge.
The mechanism on our side runs without anyone scheduling it. When a conversation gets handed to a human, Self-Learning compares what the AI drafted against what your agent actually sent, and drafts a new knowledge article from the difference.
Those drafts land in a review queue every week; nobody has to notice the problem, write a ticket about it, or find an hour. Alongside that you get batch testing against sample questions, and internal-notes mode as a continuous testing layer over live traffic.
Zia gets better when your team finds time to write articles. My AskAI gets better as a side effect of your team answering tickets.
Which has more features, Zoho Desk Zia or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zoho wins this category. Its surface area is wider because Zia is spread across an entire helpdesk: anomaly detection, field prediction, auto-routing, telephony. My AskAI's feature set is narrower and pointed at one job, resolving the ticket, including calling your systems to do it.
Zoho has more features, and the gap isn't close. Zia's inventory covers auto-tagging, sentiment scoring, Reply Assistant, Answer Bot, ticket summarization, anomaly detection that flags unusual volume patterns, field prediction that auto-fills ticket fields to trigger downstream workflows, auto-routing, a writing assistant that scores grammar and readability in the reply editor, Ticket-to-Article, Guided Conversations, support-insight dashboards and the Resolution Expert agent.
Underneath sits a helpdesk with the channel breadth to match: email, chat through SalesIQ, WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, Telegram, WeChat and Line, social, and voice and telephony from the Professional tier, with multi-level IVR and skill-based assignment at Enterprise. We have no voice product, so if phone support is part of the job you're buying for, that's a category Zoho takes outright. Anomaly detection and field prediction have no My AskAI equivalent either.
We build the layer that closes tickets. Tasks are multi-step procedures written in natural language, so a refund, a cancellation or an address change runs as a described procedure with no decision tree for anyone to maintain.
A screenshot of My AskAI’s “Task & Tools” feature enabling complex, multi-step actions like updating addresses, or refunding an order.
Tools and AI Actions let the agent call your own APIs mid-conversation, and each action can run fully autonomously or as propose-then-approve, per action, whichever you're comfortable with. User Data connects your backend so the AI answers with live account and order values.
Our Multibrand setup runs a separate agent per brand or region, each with its own knowledge and tone.

Is it easy to customize My AskAI and Zoho Desk Zia?
⚡
TL;DR: Zia Agent Studio is prompt-based with a large library of pre-built actions, which is a real step up. Deeper Zoho customization lands you in Deluge, Zoho's own scripting language. My AskAI's controls, persona, guidance rules and custom answers, are no-code by design.
Agent Studio is generally available, and the most modern piece of Zoho's AI stack. Zoho's pitch on the Zia Agents page is "Build AI agents from scratch or simply ask Zia to build one for you in the Agent Studio. Once ready, deploy them effortlessly across Zoho Desk or your website." It shipped with a library of several hundred pre-built actions when it was announced in July 2025, and for a lot of standard workflows that library is enough.
Two ceilings sit above it. The first is that Zia Agents are not trained on your custom data, per Zoho's own agents FAQ, so however you configure the agent, the knowledge it reasons over is still the knowledge base.
The second is Deluge. Once you want behavior Agent Studio and the workflow builder don't cover, you're in Zoho's proprietary scripting language, and word-on-the-street is that this lands as a support experience more than a development one. One verified Capterra reviewer in Events Services, writing on 26 February 2025, put it this way:
"We implemented Zoho Desk due to cost, but wouldn't recommend again. Whilst our agents are now familiar, we are still running into technical gremlins on a regular basis with no resolution… The support team is really poor, often tending to not understand the product or refer you to a dedicated 'Deluge' team for basic functionality."
Our controls need no code and go deep on behavior. Guidance rules are written in English across three types: communication and style, context and clarification, and handover and escalation.
Persona and tone are settings, Custom Answers pin exact wording where you can't afford paraphrase, and Tasks describe procedures in sentences. The only place a developer helps on our side is building a custom Tool against your own API, and there you're writing against your own endpoint.
It's closer than the Deluge story makes it sound, because Agent Studio is good. I'd give it to us on the strength of no proprietary language sitting behind the last mile.
What about vendor lock-in?
⚡
TL;DR: Zia only runs inside Zoho. There is no version of Zia you can point at a Zendesk or Intercom queue. My AskAI's trained agent moves with you across Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias and HubSpot, and Zoho Desk is not one of them.
This is the category where the two products are furthest apart.
Zia is Zoho-only. Every hour you spend writing knowledge-base articles for Answer Bot, tuning confidence thresholds, building agents in Agent Studio and configuring Guided Conversations flows is an hour invested in Zoho Desk specifically.
If you move helpdesk in two years, none of it comes with you. And because nobody ever writes a purchase order for Zia, that investment is easy to make without anyone (you included) ever consciously deciding to make it.
Zoho's counterweight is the MCP Server, launched in 2025, which lets third-party models such as Claude or ChatGPT reach into Zoho data and trigger actions across a wide set of connected apps. That's a real escape hatch. It runs one direction only, though: other systems can reach into Zoho, but there's no configuration in which Zia serves your Zendesk queue.
Our side of this is portable. A My AskAI agent trained on your knowledge runs inside Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias or HubSpot, and if you change helpdesk later, the trained agent, the custom answers, the guidance and the tasks move with you. Most teams run it in one helpdesk at a time, so this is about never being trapped in one.
Zoho Desk sits outside that set, so a Zoho shop adopting My AskAI is choosing the website-widget deployment, with no queue-native option behind it. That's a smaller footprint than a Zendesk or Intercom team gets.
Choosing Zia means choosing Zoho Desk as your helpdesk, because the AI is the thing that came in the box.
Bundled things always look like good value, so ask a different question: would I have chosen this helpdesk on its merits? If the answer is no, you've let the AI decision pick your helpdesk, and that's backwards.
Does Zia or My AskAI have any other AI features?
⚡
TL;DR: Both auto-tag. Zia adds sentiment scoring and anomaly detection across the whole helpdesk. My AskAI adds live agent translation and image reading, and covers 95 languages auto-detected per message against Zia's per-surface patchwork.
Tagging
Both products classify incoming tickets automatically. Zia's auto-tagging is bundled with everything else and feeds field prediction and routing rules.
Our Tagging runs natively in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk and Freshchat at $0.05 per attribute per ticket, working off your existing helpdesk tags and expanding each into a full written definition you can review and edit, so classification stays consistent. Each tag can be set to reply directly, draft an internal note, or not reply at all.
It doubles as a spend control: because a tag is billed separately from a reply, you can tag a category you don't want the AI answering and route it to a human, paying only the 5c tag.
Agent translation
My AskAI supports 95 languages, auto-detected per message, and the agent answers in the customer's language by default. Live Translation in Intercom adds $0.05 per ticket, dropping the conversation into your agent's language as an inline internal note and translating the reply forward on send, which solves the "I can't read what my customer just wrote" problem at handover.
A screenshot in Intercom of the My AskAI agent translating a user’s message and showing the agent’s sent message in their language.
Zia's language coverage is a patchwork. What you get depends entirely on which surface you're standing on:
Surface
Languages covered
My AskAI agent
95, auto-detected per message
Zia GenAI in Desk
13
Zia sentiment analysis
12, after its April 2026 upgrade
SalesIQ chatbots
Up to 30 with auto-detect, but a different product
Zoho speech-to-text

Help Center auto-translation
40 or more, machine-translated
There's no single answer to "how many languages does Zia support", so a team supporting customers across a dozen markets has to map coverage surface by surface before committing.
Sentiment / CSAT prediction
Zia scores sentiment on incoming tickets and flags them accordingly, and the happy-face/unhappy-face flagging SysGroup described is exactly how it presents in daily use. It's one of Zia's most-used features and one of its most variable in reviews, where accuracy comes up repeatedly as knowledge-base-dependent and inconsistent.
Our Insights scores every conversation for AI CSAT, where a survey-based program typically covers 2 to 10% of them, groups every conversation into topics, and emails you when a new topic emerges across three or more conversations. Our routing on emotional signal runs through Tagging and Guidance: a frustrated or canceling message can be tagged and sent straight to a human.
Help center quick answers
Zia's Answer Bot deploys straight onto the Zoho Desk Help Center and into the ASAP widget, so a customer searching your knowledge base gets a generated answer in place of a list of blue links. That's the strongest deployment of Zia for a self-service-heavy business. Our widget does the same job on your own site and help center, and for a Zoho Desk team that is exactly the deployment available: catching questions at the help center before they become tickets.
What about security, is Zoho Desk more secure than My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zoho wins this category. It claims GDPR, HIPAA and CCPA compliance, runs Zia across seven regional data centers and states it doesn't train on customer data. My AskAI holds SOC 2 Type II and GDPR.
Zoho's compliance grid is broader than ours. Verbatim from its Zia page: "In our commitment to privacy and security we never use our customers data to train our AI model and are compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA." The same page states Zia is "currently available in US, CA, EU, AU, JP, CN, and IN DCs".
The Zia Agents FAQ adds that "Zia Agents do not store customer data" and that conversation data is "not saved in the system or used for training purpose". Zia LLM, when it ships, is designed to run on Nvidia GPUs inside Zoho's own data centers.
If your organization needs a HIPAA BAA, Zoho is the vendor that can have that conversation, and for a buyer with PHI in scope that outranks every other difference between the two.
We're SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit, isolated containers per customer, and customer data never used for model training or anything beyond serving that customer's own tickets. Our live trust report carries the current detail, and for most B2B SaaS and ecommerce security reviews that's the grid they ask for.

Customer data used to train the AI
❌ never
❌ never (per Zoho)
Data sovereignty is usually the reason Zoho's security story gets raised at all, and the Zia Agents currently serving replies run on GPT-4.1 Mini, per Zoho's own FAQ. The in-house Zia LLM the marketing leads with hasn't shipped yet. The compliance claims stand on their own, and (for now) the sovereignty framing is running ahead of the product.

Which costs more, Zoho Desk Zia or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: Zoho is cheaper, and for a team already paying for Zoho Desk it isn't close. Zia is included in the seat price with no per-resolution fee. My AskAI is a separate line item on top of whatever helpdesk you already pay for.
The pricing model
The two products bill on completely different axes, which is why "which is cheaper" has two answers. Zoho charges per agent per month and includes the AI, at these live prices from its pricing page on 23 July 2026:
Line chart showing Zoho Desk's AI cost staying flat at 800 dollars a month as ticket volume rises, while My AskAI's per-ticket cost climbs from 199 dollars and crosses it between five and ten thousand tickets a month

There's no per-resolution, per-ticket or per-conversation charge anywhere in that table, so your AI bill does not move when your ticket volume moves. You also get a 15-day trial with no card, and a Free Forever plan for 3 agents.
One metered dimension has appeared. The AI Agents row grants "up to 30M free tokens/month", and Zoho's pricing page doesn't publish an overage rate or say what happens when the allowance runs out.
Today that means no usage charge you can be billed for, sitting under a ceiling I'd want quantified before signing anything.
An analyst note at the July 2025 launch reported that Zoho "isn't initially charging for its LLM or agents until it has a better view of usage and operational costs… A pricing structure for these offerings can be expected at the time of general availability". Treat "bundled" as today's fact, then, and price the risk that it changes at general availability.
We charge per ticket instead. Our pricing is Pro at $199/mo including 1,000 credits with $0.12 overage, Scale at $499/mo including 2,000 credits with $0.10 overage, and Enterprise from $999/mo with all usage at $0.10. There's a fuller breakdown in our pricing explainer.
Team seats are unlimited on Scale, so your headcount never moves the bill. You pay when the AI works, whether or not the ticket resolves; our side of that trade is a bill that stays flat as your resolution rate climbs.
The overall cost
Take a team of 20 agents and run it at two very different volumes.
Scenario
Zoho Desk Enterprise (20 agents, annual)
My AskAI
10,000 tickets/month
$800/mo, helpdesk and AI
$1,299/mo for the AI alone, on top of your existing helpdesk
1,000 tickets/month
$800/mo, helpdesk and AI
$199/mo (Pro) for the AI alone
At 10,000 tickets a month, Zoho is the cheaper number by a wide margin, and it's carrying the helpdesk too. That is not a rounding difference you can argue away with feature comparisons, and for a high-volume team already on Zoho, the marginal cost of adding AI is zero.
Flip the volume and the axis flips with it. At 1,000 tickets a month with the same 20 agents, Zoho is still $800 because Zoho bills your headcount, and My AskAI is $199.
Zoho scales with agents; we scale with tickets. Which one is cheaper depends entirely on your tickets-per-agent ratio, and you can work that out in about a minute with your seat count and last month's ticket volume.
Our line also sits on top of a helpdesk you keep paying for, so your helpdesk bill doesn't go away. And the Zoho column assumes you're on, or are willing to move to, Zoho Desk as your helpdesk. If you already run Zendesk or Intercom and you like it, you're comparing your existing helpdesk plus an AI agent against a full migration.
Either way, you can measure it before you pay for it. Our free trial runs 30 days with every feature unlocked, unlimited tickets and no credit card, so the number you put in front of your finance team comes from your own tickets.
Conclusion - should I choose Zoho Desk Zia or My AskAI?
⚡
TL;DR: If you're on the Zoho stack and price is the deciding factor, Zia is the right call. If the deciding factor is how much of your queue the AI actually closes, Zia has no published number and My AskAI does.
For a team already on Zoho One or Zoho Desk, where the AI budget is whatever you can get free inside a tool you already bought, Zia is the correct choice. The condition that flips it is measurement: the moment someone asks what share of the queue the AI is closing, Zoho has no answer to give you and we do.

Zoho Desk
Three of those wins are Zoho's outright, and they're the three a buying committee usually weights heaviest: price, features and security. Ours cluster in one place: what the AI can be fed, what it does with the queue, how it improves, and whether any of that survives a change of helpdesk.
Lock-in is the widest gap between the two, and it only bites two years in, which is why buyers discount it at purchase.
Choose Zoho Desk Zia if:
You're already on Zoho One or Zoho Desk and the AI budget is effectively zero.
Cost per agent is the decision and you have a high agent-to-ticket ratio.
You need a HIPAA BAA.
You need voice and telephony in the same product as your tickets.
You want one vendor, one invoice and one support contract.
But if you picked your helpdesk on quality first and price second, need the AI to read knowledge that lives outside Zoho, or need a published resolution number to put in front of a budget holder, that's the case for My AskAI. And if you're weighing Zia against other options before committing, our Zoho Desk alternatives roundup covers the wider field, and our My AskAI vs Zendesk AI comparison covers the same choice for Zendesk teams.

FAQs
Can My AskAI work with Zoho Desk?
No. We have no Zoho Desk integration, no Marketplace app and no plugin, and our native helpdesk integrations are Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Gorgias and HubSpot, alongside our own web widget, email and Slack.
A Zoho Desk team can still run our widget on the website and help center, catching questions before they turn into tickets. It deflects real volume, but it isn't the queue-native experience a Zendesk or Intercom team gets.
What can each AI agent be trained on?
Zia's Answer Bot reads published Zoho Desk knowledge-base articles and nothing else. We read your website, uploaded PDFs and DOCX files, custom Q&A pairs, Notion, Confluence, Google Drive, SharePoint, OneDrive, Dropbox, Salesforce and Shopify, plus your resolved tickets, and any source can be marked internal-only.
Zia's advantage runs the other way on suite data, where it sees across Zoho CRM and Campaigns with nothing to integrate. The source-by-source table sits in the training section above.
How do Zoho Desk Zia and My AskAI pricing compare, and what would we actually pay?
Zoho bills per agent with the AI included; My AskAI bills per ticket. At a 20-agent team:

Zoho is cheaper at volume and it's carrying your helpdesk in the same number. We're cheaper at low volume with a large team, because our bill tracks tickets and Zoho's tracks headcount. The 30M-token AI Agents allowance has no published overage rate, so treat bundled-forever as today's fact rather than a contractual guarantee.
What resolution rate does Zia achieve?
Zoho doesn't publish one. On the Zia page, the Zia Agents page and the pricing page as of 23 July 2026 there's no autonomous resolution rate, deflection rate or automation percentage, and Zoho's own docs describe its Desk agents as augmenting the ticket owners you already employ. The one performance figure Zoho does publish measures whether a returned answer was correct, which is a different question from how much of the queue closed without a human.
For orientation, our AI resolution rate benchmarks research puts the field median AI-handling rate at around 70% across 195 rated deployments spanning 38 vendors, though every vendor defines its own metric and published figures are self-selected marketing wins, so take it with a grain of salt. We run at 72% across our customer base on a rolling 30-day basis.
How long does setup take, and do we need developers?
Neither product needs a developer for the standard setup. Zia is a settings toggle if your tier includes it, and the real prerequisite is content: 30 published articles per department is Zoho's own recommendation, with sync taking up to an hour.
Deeper Zoho configuration can pull you into Deluge, which is where the "no developers needed" story gets tested. Our side is 10 to 15 minutes to connect knowledge and deploy, and we train on tickets you've already resolved, so a team without a polished help center isn't blocked on writing one first.
Can they handle multilingual support and agent translation?
We cover 95 languages, auto-detected per message, and reply in the customer's language by default. Live Translation in Intercom adds $0.05 per ticket so a human agent can read and answer across a language barrier on handover.
Zia's coverage depends which surface you're standing on, from 13 languages in Desk to 40 or more for Help Center article auto-translation, with the per-surface breakdown in the other-AI-features section above. If you support many markets, map that fragmentation against your actual language mix before you commit.
How do they compare on security and compliance?
Zoho wins this one. It states compliance with GDPR, HIPAA and CCPA, says it never uses customer data to train its AI models, and runs Zia across US, Canada, EU, Australia, Japan, China and India data centers.
We're SOC 2 Type II certified and GDPR compliant, with AES-256 encryption at rest, TLS in transit, isolated containers per customer and no customer data used for training. If a HIPAA BAA is on your requirements list, Zoho is the vendor here that can supply one.
Is Zia included in every Zoho Desk plan?
Not every plan, but far more of them than most write-ups say. As of 23 July 2026, AI Agents with the 30M-token monthly allowance start at Express ($7/agent annual), Answer Bot at Standard ($14), the built-in Zia AI capabilities at Professional ($23), and only Guided Conversations is held back to Enterprise ($40).
The free 3-agent plan has no AI. The common misconception is that Zia is Enterprise-only; that was true in 2025 and Zoho repackaged it downward during 2026.
