7 Best AI Customer Service Agents to Automate Password Resets (2026)
We scored 7 AI agents on password reset automation. By hand, 1,000 password tickets cost about $2,000 a month. Top-scoring My AskAI costs about $241 a month.
Mike is an experienced Product Manager who focuses on all the “non-development” areas of My AskAI, from finance and customer success to product design, copywriting, testing and more.
This post compares 7 AI customer service agents on password reset automation across eight criteria, for a total out of 80. My AskAI leads on 61, Intercom Fin is second on 58 and Fini third on 55, while Ada scores highest on checking who is asking.
"I can't get into my account" turns up in your inbox every day, by chat and by email. Many of those tickets are routine (a reset email in spam, an expired link, a forgotten sign-in method), and your team gives the same few answers week after week. Now and then the same message comes from someone trying to take over an account that isn't theirs.
Password reset automation means an AI agent handles a customer who can't get into your product, from sorting out the missing reset email to sending the reset or recovering the account, and hands anything suspicious to a person. Staff locked out of company systems are a separate IT job, with tools of their own.
I scored seven tools out of 80 and priced each one at 1,000 password tickets a month, starting from a no-AI row. At an assumed five minutes a ticket and $0.40 a minute of team time, handling every ticket by hand comes to about $2,000 a month. The three tools with a monthly figure run from about $241 to $759 a month, Fini shows per-resolution rates but no plan fee, Zendesk bills per automated resolution, and Ada and Decagon send you to book a demo. An iGaming operator shows how to roll out account actions safely: it started with internal-note replies to a test audience before the AI replied to players directly.
⚡
My AskAI tops the scoreboard at about $241 a month for 1,000 password tickets on its Pro plan. The best fit for each tool:
My AskAI (best for resets handled inside the helpdesk you already run) - Answers the missing-email tickets from your content and sends resets through your system, automatically or on approval. Identity checks beyond your helpdesk's are Task steps you write.
Intercom Fin (best for an emailed code before any account change) - Sends the customer a one-time code and can wait for a teammate's approval. It's charged at $0.99 per outcome.
Fini (best for fintech teams that need 2FA and phone-number fixes) - Names 2FA fixes and password resets among live customer actions. It prices per resolution ($0.89 on Growth) with no plan fee on the page, so a monthly total needs a sales call.
Ada (best for the clearest documented sign-in check) - A sign-in step with a failure path you configure. Account changes depend on tools that may not be in every plan.
Decagon (best for enterprise resets that arrive by phone) - Names password resets on its financial-services page and can verify callers on voice calls. Its blog says most customers choose per-conversation pricing.
Zendesk AI agents (best for paying when the AI resolves a request) - Recognizes signed-in customers and runs flows your admins build. Billing is per automated resolution, on top of seats.
Tidio (best for a small team with no helpdesk yet) - Lists password resets among its Lyro Actions with published monthly pricing. Identity checks are left to your systems.
What does automating password resets actually require?
⚡
TL;DR: Six jobs: sort out the reset email that never arrived, check it's really the account holder, see the account as it stands, send the reset or unlock the account, handle the hard recoveries, and hand likely takeovers to a person. Many tickets only need the first job, and the other five decide whether the AI can safely change an account.
Getting a customer back in takes six separate jobs. I scored every tool against these six.
Six numbered jobs an AI agent has to cover for a password reset: sorts out the missing reset email, checks it's the account holder, sees the account as it stands, sends the reset or unlocks it, handles the hard recoveries, hands likely takeovers to a person.
1. It sorts out the reset email that never arrived
Many password tickets never need the account changed at all. The reset email went to spam, the link expired, the customer signed up with a different address, or they use "sign in with Google" (so there was never a password to reset).
Large consumer platforms tell customers to check spam, junk and archive folders and every email address on the account before anything else. An AI that answers these from your help content and your team's past replies clears a large share of your password volume with almost no risk. It needs to explain what went wrong, because a link to the "forgot password" page sends the customer straight back to the step that already failed.
2. It checks it's really the account holder
The moment the AI is about to change anything, it has to know who it's talking to. That might be a customer already signed in on your site or app, a one-time code sent to their email (it works once and expires quickly), or details only the owner would know, checked against your records.
Is the account locked after too many attempts? Which email is it registered under, was a reset email sent in the last hour, and is two-factor authentication (2FA, the second code from an app or text message) switched on?
With that view, the AI can tell a customer the reset went to an old work address. It can also say the account is still locked and when it will open again, and the ticket ends there.
4. It sends the reset or unlocks the account itself
The AI triggers the reset or lifts the lock in your own system, then tells the customer what to expect next, so they can sign straight back in.
Your team should also be able to see afterwards exactly what the AI did and why. If a customer says "the bot locked me out", you want the record in front of you.
5. It handles the hard recoveries
Some customers have lost access to the email on the account, lost the phone that holds their 2FA codes, or changed their number. The usual reset can't work for them.
Consumer platforms often route these to a recovery form that a person checks, with an answer within a day. A good AI gathers what your recovery process needs and follows your rules, which for most teams means a person makes the final call with everything already collected.
The handover should pass on the conversation so far, so your team isn't starting again. And asking for a person should always work, whatever the AI thinks of the request.
How did I score these tools for password resets?
⚡
TL;DR: Eight criteria, each scored out of 10 for a total out of 80: the six jobs above, plus how much work setup takes and the monthly cost at 1,000 password tickets.
I'm Mike, co-founder of My AskAI. We help 200+ ecommerce and SaaS businesses run AI customer service inside the helpdesk they already use, so I'm not a neutral party, and My AskAI is one of the seven tools scored here.
Each tool gets a score out of 10 on the six jobs, plus setup effort and monthly cost. The scores come from each vendor's docs, product pages, pricing pages and published customer stories, and a job that a vendor's pages cover in part is scored on what they show and marked partial. Phone support isn't a separate criterion here. Where a vendor verifies callers or hands calls over, its section says so.
The eight criteria, in priority order:
Fixes the missing reset email - answers the "never arrived", "link expired" and "wrong address" tickets from your help content
Checks who is asking - confirms the account holder before changing anything, and hands over when it can't
Sees the customer's account - reads whether the account is locked, which email it uses and whether 2FA is on
Sends the reset or unlocks - does it in your system within limits you set, and your team can see what it did
Handles lost email or 2FA access - follows your recovery rules when the normal reset can't work
Hands takeover risks to a person - routes takeover signs and failed checks by rule, with a summary, and a person is always one request away
Setup effort - the time and people needed to go live, assuming your team uses AI to draft and test the reset flow
Monthly cost at 1,000 password tickets - the lowest plan that covers that volume, billed monthly

My AskAI comes out ahead on the everyday missing-email tickets, on handing takeover risks to a person and on the monthly bill, and I gave it a 9 on each. It scores 6 on checking who is asking, because beyond the customer your helpdesk has already verified, further checks are Task steps you write, where Ada, Fin, Fini and Decagon each document a dedicated check.
Intercom Fin is a close second on 58, with an emailed code before any account change and a teammate approval step, and it loses points on cost because it's charged per outcome. Fini (55) is the only tool here to cover all six jobs, and cost pulls it down, because its pricing page shows no plan fee to budget against. Ada's 9 on identity checks is the best in the set, Decagon is built for large teams taking resets by phone, and Tidio is a self-serve option for a small team that doesn't run a helpdesk yet.
Where does password reset automation go wrong?
⚡
TL;DR: Three ways: the AI hands an account to someone who isn't the owner, it sends the customer round in circles, or it says the reset is done when nothing changed.
Any of them can turn a routine ticket into a complaint or a security incident, so test for each one in a demo before you buy.
Three-card grid of password reset failure modes: resets the account for the wrong person, sends the customer round in circles, reports a reset that never happened.
Failure mode 1: It resets the account for the wrong person
An AI that takes an email address or a name at face value hands an impostor the account. The riskiest version is a conversation where someone changes the email on the account and asks for a reset in the same breath, which is exactly the pattern scammers use on customer service teams.
I look for a check before anything changes, using a method you choose, and a refusal plus a handover when the check fails or the signs look wrong. In a demo, fail the check on purpose and watch what the AI does next.
Failure mode 2: It sends the customer round in circles
The AI keeps pointing at a reset link that never arrives, doesn't know the customer signs in with Google, or has no route for someone who lost their email or phone. A support lead who spent weeks debugging a new chatbot listed password recovery among the questions it answered wrongly. Customers also describe the problem in their own words, such as "I'm locked out", which a rigid keyword trigger misses.
My rule of thumb is that a person should always be easy to reach, and whoever picks up the ticket should get a summary of the conversation so far. A password conversation should go to your team when:
the customer asks for a person
the AI can't answer
the customer sounds frustrated
the topic is one your team handles, such as a lost 2FA device or a suspected takeover
Failure mode 3: It reports a reset that never happened
The AI says it has sent the reset or unlocked the account, and nothing happened in your system. The customer tries to sign in again, can't, and writes back more annoyed than before.
This usually happens when the reset fails in your system and nothing checks whether it worked. To avoid it, the AI needs to make the change in your own system, tell the customer what happens next, and leave a record your team can check later. I like it when a vendor is explicit that every action is logged with the data used and the step taken, because that record is what your team reads when a customer complains.
Can My AskAI automate password resets?
⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI handles password tickets inside the helpdesk you already run, covering 4 of the 6 jobs fully and 2 in part. It's strongest on the everyday missing-email tickets and on routing takeover risks to a person, and 1,000 password tickets cost about $241 a month on Pro.
We built My AskAI to work inside the helpdesk your team already uses: Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot. It installs as an app from each helpdesk's marketplace, so your team keeps its inbox, tags and routing, and password tickets are handled in the same place as every other ticket.
The My AskAI homepage hero, pitching an AI customer service agent that works inside your helpdesk, with a 'Create AI Agent' button.
How does My AskAI handle a password reset end to end?
The routine password tickets are answered from your help content and Custom Answers, which return your exact wording where it matters. That covers your version of the spam-folder and wrong-address checks large platforms give customers, or how "sign in with Google" accounts work. The AI also learns from your team's historic tickets, so the answers your agents already give to "my reset email never came" become the AI's answers too. Between your content, Custom Answers and those past replies, it earns a 9 on the missing reset email.
User Data gives the AI the customer's live account, such as whether it's locked and which email it uses. It shares those details with customers your helpdesk has already identified, such as the sender of an email ticket or a chat user signed in on your own site or app. Any further check, such as matching details against your records, is a step you write into the reset Task. That puts checking who is asking at 6, below the four tools with a dedicated check, and seeing the account at 8.
The reset itself is a Task, a multi-step workflow you describe in plain language, and our Task examples include one called "Reset Password". The Task asks the questions you've set, checks the answers against your systems, triggers the reset or unlock in your system and confirms what the customer should expect. Sending the reset scores 8, because you choose, per action, whether the AI does it on its own or drafts it for a teammate to approve.
AI Agent Tasks & Tools (Refunds, Orders)
Afterwards your team can ask Echo, the assistant in our dashboard, why the AI took an action or handed over, including the user data and guidance it used. Inspect & Logs shows the same detail for any conversation.
Hard recoveries and takeover signs go to a person through Guidance. You write handover rules in plain language, such as sending any lost-2FA request or "I didn't ask for this reset" to your team. The AI also hands over when a customer asks for a person, when it can't answer, or when the customer sounds frustrated.
It writes a summary before handing over and stays out of the ticket until your team hands it back, for a 9 on takeover risks. Recoveries get a 6, because a person still makes the final call, though the AI has gathered the details first.
Setup scores 6, because connecting your account system is usually a one-off job for a developer. The Task itself is quick to write: paste your reset process into an AI tool and have it drafted as steps. Then run it in internal-note mode first, so your team sees every proposed reset before a customer does.

Who's using My AskAI for password resets?
A digital-goods marketplace on Intercom, one of our customers, uses a named Task for each of the ticket types that arrive most, including one for an account blocked by a verification check. Its twelve live Tasks cover at least 68% of its tickets. The Tasks work out what's wrong and answer, and anything that needs a person to act goes to the team with the details gathered.
An iGaming operator connected live player data through User Data so its Tasks answer from each player's own account. It rolled out in stages, starting with internal-note replies to a test audience before replying to players directly. A consumer AI-assistant app on Zendesk uses AI Tagging to stop the AI replying on certain categories altogether, which is the same control you'd use to keep suspected takeovers with people.
What does My AskAI cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
Pro (our plan for teams getting started) is $199 a month with 1,000 credits included, then $0.12 a credit, and it covers up to 5,000 tickets a month. I've assumed 60% of password tickets arrive by chat and 40% by email. A typical chat ticket uses about 1 credit and a typical email ticket about 1.5, so 1,000 tickets use about 1,200 credits: $199 plus 200 extra credits at $0.12, or $223.
Tasks are billed at $0.02 a step on top. If 300 of the 1,000 tickets need the account changed and each reset Task takes three steps, that adds $18, so 1,000 password tickets come to about $241 a month, roughly $0.24 each. That's the lowest published bill in this set and the 9 on cost, and the price per ticket stays the same whether the AI finishes the reset or hands it over. The 30-day free trial unlocks every feature with unlimited tickets and no card, so you can prove it on your own password tickets before you pay.
✅
Choose My AskAI for password resets if:
Your team works in Zendesk, Intercom, Freshdesk, Freshchat, Gorgias or HubSpot and wants password tickets handled there.
You want to decide, action by action, whether the AI sends resets on its own or waits for approval.
You want a predictable cost per ticket that doesn't climb as the AI finishes more resets.
❌
Don't choose My AskAI for password resets if:
You'd rather pay only for the tickets the AI resolves.
You want the vendor's team to design and build the whole identity check for you.
TL;DR: Fin covers 5 of the 6 jobs fully and 1 in part, with an emailed one-time code before it touches an account and a teammate approval step for risky actions. At $0.99 per outcome, 1,000 password tickets cost from about $743 a month.
Fin is Intercom's AI agent, so everything below is set up inside Intercom. Of the seven, it has the clearest documented chain from checking the customer to acting on their account.
The Intercom homepage hero, titled 'A complete system for human and AI customer service', with 'Start free trial' and 'View demo' buttons.
How does Intercom Fin handle a password reset end to end?
The missing-email tickets are answered from your help content (8), and one of Fin's published fintech customers lists password resets among its everyday ticket types.
Before Fin reads or changes anything in your systems, it can email the customer a one-time code, and three wrong attempts stop it there. You can also add a verify-by-email step to a Procedure (Fin's name for its multi-step workflows). Intercom's guide says to "Use Procedures for order claims, account troubleshooting, or identity verification." Fin scores 8 on checking who is asking, one below Ada, whose check has a documented failure path.
Data connectors give Fin the account's live status (8), and they can act in your systems too. For a reset, Fin's teammate approval step can pause a Procedure until a person signs off. It scores 7 on sending the reset, a point below My AskAI and Fini, because the account actions in Intercom's articles are general ones, with no password reset flow shown. The approval step is the part I like most for password resets, because a teammate can check the first few hundred resets before Fin sends them alone.
The emailed code needs the customer to still have their email, so a lost-email recovery goes to a teammate and Fin scores 6 on recoveries. Hard cases go through escalation rules and guidance, including a rule for when a customer clearly asks for a human, which earns an 8. Setup scores 6, because the data connectors call systems your team has to prepare for Fin.

Who's using Intercom Fin for password resets?
Fundrise (an investment platform) names password resets among the typical support requests Fin handles. Rocket Money, a fintech app, rolled Fin out on workflows it could scope and control, including account access requests.
What does Intercom Fin cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
On Intercom's helpdesk, Fin is billed on top of self-serve, per-seat plans, while Fin on another helpdesk needs no seats and goes through sales with a minimum monthly commitment. Cost scores 7: the rate is published, and the bill rises as Fin finishes more resets.
✅
Choose Intercom Fin for password resets if:
You want an emailed one-time code before the AI touches an account.
You want a teammate to sign off risky account changes before they happen.
You're comfortable paying per outcome as Fin finishes more resets.
❌
Don't choose Intercom Fin for password resets if:
You want a cost per ticket that stays the same whether the AI finishes the reset or hands it over.
Many of your customers have lost access to the email on their account.
TL;DR: Fini is built for fintech and is the only tool here to cover all 6 jobs, with an extra identity check before sensitive actions, logged actions and published 2FA fixes. It prices per resolution, $0.89 on Growth, with no plan fee shown, so a monthly total needs a sales quote.
Fini sells to finance and fintech support teams, and its pages lean hardest on identity checks and account actions. It's the one tool whose published customer story names password resets and 2FA fixes as live actions.
The Fini homepage hero, pitching a self-learning AI agent that Fini says resolves 90% of support tickets, with a Book a demo button and resolution-rate, accuracy, language and monthly-resolution figures.
How does Fini handle a password reset end to end?
Fini answers the everyday tickets from your knowledge, and its 7 on the missing reset email is level with most of the set. Its finance page promises a bank-grade identity check before any sensitive action, every time, and a published customer's flow starts with an identity check where any mismatch goes to a person, so Fini scores 8 on checking who is asking.
Fini fetches the customer's details fresh on every message, so it sees the account as it stands (8), and its actions change it in your systems. Wefunder's story lists "Password resets, marketing unsubscribes, 2FA fixes, withdrawal-specific responses." among what Fini handles, and the finance page says every action is logged. Fini scores 8 on sending the reset.
I think recoveries are Fini's strongest area. Its guide to changing a phone number securely claims AI agents resolve most of those requests end to end, identity check included, and 2FA fixes are live for Wefunder. Fini's 8 on recoveries is the highest in the set.
Hard cases escalate to a person with the full context, for a 7 on takeover risks. Fin and Decagon score 8 there, because their pages also describe what happens when a customer asks for a person or gets upset. Fini says you can go live in 14 days and be fully autonomous in 30, so setup scores 6.

Who's using Fini for password resets?
Wefunder (an investment platform) lists password resets and 2FA fixes among the actions Fini runs. Atlas, a fintech, built its flows to confirm the customer is who they say they are before going any further.
What does Fini cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
Fini's pricing page shows $0.89 per resolved ticket on Growth and an allowance of at least 2,000 tickets, which covers 1,000 password tickets with room to spare, but no plan fee. Without that fee there's no monthly total to set against handling them by hand, and cost scores 3.
✅
Choose Fini for password resets if:
You run fintech support and want a bank-grade identity check before every account change.
Lost 2FA devices and phone-number changes are a big share of your password tickets.
Your volume is high enough that the Growth plan's included tickets get used.
❌
Don't choose Fini for password resets if:
You handle around 1,000 password tickets a month and cost matters.
TL;DR: Ada has the best documented identity check in the set, with a sign-in step and a failure path, and covers sending the reset and hard recoveries only in part. Its pricing page is a demo booking, and account changes depend on tools that may not be in every plan.
Ada is an enterprise AI agent on a standalone platform that connects to your helpdesk. Its integrations cover Zendesk, Gorgias and the Freshworks suite among others, and they don't list Intercom or HubSpot.
The Ada homepage hero, titled 'The agentic customer experience platform', with a 'Speak to an expert' button.
How does Ada handle a password reset end to end?
Ada answers the missing-email tickets from your knowledge, a 7. Its sign-in block is the clearest identity check in the set: "Sign-in confirms the customer is the person they claim to be, which should happen before your AI Agent shares any sensitive data." If the sign-in fails, Ada sends a message you've written for that case, and Playbooks can open with a "Verify identity" section. The check plus its failure path earns Ada the only 9 on checking who is asking.
Ada's tools that connect to your systems can read balances, subscription details and usage from your back end (8). They can make changes too, but Ada's docs note the feature may not be included with your subscription, so sending the reset scores 6.
Recoveries go to a person through Ada's handoffs (6). You can switch on up to five handoff routes at a time, such as a live transfer or a ticket for later, and summaries arrive on some of them, so Ada scores 7 on takeover risks. A sales-led build puts setup at 5.
If a lot of your password tickets come in by phone, I think Ada deserves a serious look, because its handoffs cover voice as well as chat and email.

Who's using Ada for password resets?
Brigit, a fintech app, launched Ada on email and saw customer satisfaction rise. Its story covers its support in general, with no password-reset detail.
What does Ada cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
Ada's pricing page is a demo request, with no price or billing basis on it for 1,000 password tickets, so cost scores 2.
✅
Choose Ada for password resets if:
You want the clearest documented sign-in check, with a failure path you control.
Your password tickets arrive by phone as well as chat.
You run a helpdesk Ada connects to, such as Zendesk or Gorgias.
❌
Don't choose Ada for password resets if:
Your team runs Intercom or HubSpot.
You want a published price before you talk to sales.
TL;DR: Decagon covers 5 of the 6 jobs fully and 1 in part, names password resets first among the secure account issues it resolves for banks, and can verify callers on voice calls. Setup is built with Decagon's team, and buying starts with a demo.
Like Ada, Decagon is an enterprise AI agent on a standalone platform, connected to your helpdesk, and its product docs open only to signed-in customers.
The Decagon homepage hero, titled 'The AI concierge for every customer', with a work email field and a 'Get a demo' button.
How does Decagon handle a password reset end to end?
Decagon's financial-services page names password resets first among the secure account issues its agents resolve, so it scores 7 on both the missing reset email and sending the reset. That second score is a point below My AskAI and Fini, because Decagon's public pages don't show the reset flow itself.
Its product pages describe identity verification as a critical operation run under strict controls, and its security page adds ways to verify callers on voice channels. Decagon scores 8 on checking who is asking. If your password tickets mostly arrive by phone, I rate that phone check as the strongest reason to look at Decagon. Decagon's procedures (it calls them AOPs) call your systems and let your team trace the agent's reasoning, a 7 on seeing the account.
Decagon's explainer on what AI support agents do lists "Account recovery: Assisting users who are locked out of their accounts." as a task category. The explainer describes AI agents in general, and Decagon's public pages don't show a recovery flow of its own, so recoveries score 6. On calls, Decagon transfers to a person with a concise summary (8 on takeover risks). Setup, demo-led and built with Decagon's team, scores 4.

Who's using Decagon for password resets?
Chime (a US fintech) uses Decagon across channels including voice. Its story covers member support in general.
What does Decagon cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
Decagon's blog on pricing AI agents says most customers choose per-conversation pricing, and its site sends buyers to book a demo. The blog gives the pricing basis without a rate, so cost scores 2.
✅
Choose Decagon for password resets if:
You're a large bank or fintech with password resets arriving by phone.
You want Decagon's team to build the reset and verification flow with you.
You want callers verified on the phone.
❌
Don't choose Decagon for password resets if:
You want to read the product docs before a sales call.
You want to see a monthly price before booking a demo.
TL;DR: Zendesk AI agents cover 3 of the 6 jobs fully and 3 in part, relying on customers being signed in on your site or app. Billing is per automated resolution, on top of Suite seats.
Zendesk's AI agents are the AI built into the helpdesk many support teams already run. The reset features below depend on flows your admins build.
The Zendesk AI agents page hero, titled 'Self-improving AI agents built for resolution', with a 'Start your free trial' button and a 14-day free trial note.
How does Zendesk handle a password reset end to end?
Zendesk's AI agent answers from your help-center content, including restricted articles, and scores 7 on the missing reset email. For identity, it relies on customers signed in on your own site or app. A customer who isn't signed in gives an email address in a form, and Zendesk's article describes no further check that the address is theirs, so checking who is asking scores 5. I'd test this first in a demo, because a customer who can't get into your product usually can't sign in to your chat either.
Actions let the AI read and update data outside Zendesk, through flows your admins build (and mark for the AI to run). That's a 7 on seeing the account and a 6 on sending the reset, since the Zendesk articles describe actions in general, with no customer password reset shown.
For lost email or 2FA access, the route is an escalation flow you design, which is a 5. Escalation is configurable, and Zendesk notes that you can prevent handoffs to agents by removing every escalation option, so check that a route to a person stays on for password tickets. That's a 7 on takeover risks. Setup scores 5 (admins build each flow).

Who's using Zendesk AI agents for password resets?
Lush and Vagaro are published Zendesk customers. Neither story is about password resets or account actions.
What do Zendesk AI agents cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
Zendesk bills AI agents per automated resolution, on top of the Suite seats your team already pays for. Cost scores 5: the basis is published, and the bill climbs with every password ticket the AI resolves.
✅
Choose Zendesk AI agents for password resets if:
Most of your customers are already signed in on your site or app when they ask for help.
Your admins are comfortable building the reset flow themselves.
You'd rather pay only when the AI resolves a ticket.
❌
Don't choose Zendesk AI agents for password resets if:
Most of your password tickets come from customers who can't sign in to your site or app.
You want a cost per ticket that stays the same as the AI resolves more.
TL;DR: Tidio covers 1 of the 6 jobs fully, 3 in part and 2 not at all, and leaves identity checks to your systems. It lists password resets among its Lyro Actions and costs about $759 a month for 1,000 tickets.
Tidio is an all-in-one chat and helpdesk tool (its AI agent is called Lyro). Adopting it means moving your support into Tidio, which suits a small team that doesn't run a helpdesk yet.
The Tidio homepage hero, titled 'What did your last 100 conversations earn you?', with G2 and Shopify App Store ratings and 'Start for free' and 'Contact sales' buttons.
How does Tidio handle a password reset end to end?
Lyro answers the missing-email tickets from your content and redirects anything it can't answer to a person, a 7. Tidio's Lyro Actions page lists password resets with the line "Initiate secure password reset workflows". Lyro Actions connect to your systems to read and change data (6 on both seeing the account and sending the reset).
Tidio's lowest score is a 4, on checking who is asking. Its help center says Tidio can't take responsibility for breaches caused by weak identity checks in your own systems, and its worked example asks the customer for an order ID. I see this as the deciding point for password resets, because someone on your team has to build that check before Lyro touches an account. There's an "Ask visitor to confirm Action" option, and the same article notes "Please note: Lyro does not validate or roll back your integrations."
Tidio's help articles describe no recovery route of their own, so lost email or 2FA cases go to a person, a 4. Handover is to a live agent, or through a Procedure that creates a ticket for your team to pick up later, which is a 5. Setup is self-serve, but Actions are aimed at developers and you're moving platforms, so it scores 5.

Who's using Tidio for password resets?
Burker and Suitor are published Tidio customers. Neither of their stories covers password resets or account access.
What does Tidio cost at 1,000 password tickets a month?
On Tidio's pricing page (monthly billing), the Lyro pack for 1,000 conversations is $700 and the Growth plan is $59 with 250 billable conversations for your team. That's $759 a month, about $0.76 a ticket, and Actions are fully unlocked with a paid Lyro pack. Cost scores 7: the prices are published and self-serve.
✅
Choose Tidio for password resets if:
You're a small team with no helpdesk yet and want chat and AI in one tool.
You want published monthly prices.
Your developer can build the reset action and the identity check behind it.
❌
Don't choose Tidio for password resets if:
You already run Zendesk, Intercom or another helpdesk and want to keep it.
You want the AI to check who is asking without building it yourself.
What does automating password resets save you? (worked example)

TL;DR: Handling 1,000 password tickets a month by hand costs about $2,000 in team time. My AskAI comes to about $241 on Pro, Intercom Fin to about $743 and Tidio to $759, while Fini shows no plan fee, so its total needs a sales quote.
The basis is the same for every row. I've assumed 1,000 password and account-access tickets a month, 60% by chat and 40% by email, with the AI finishing 750 and handing 250 to a person, and 300 needing the account changed. The no-AI row uses five minutes of team time per ticket at a loaded $0.40 a minute, our house estimate, roughly in line with the median pay for customer service representatives once overheads are added. Five minutes assumes your team already uses AI to look up the account and draft the reply.

Against the no-AI row, My AskAI saves about $1,759 a month, Intercom Fin about $1,258 and Tidio about $1,241. Fini shows no plan fee, so it can't be set against the no-AI row; ask for a quote if its fintech checks decide the purchase.
On per-outcome or per-resolution pricing you pay for each password ticket the AI closes, and password tickets are some of the easiest for it to close. Our Task steps and Tools are billed on top of credits on every plan, so our $241 includes the reset steps.
So which AI customer service agent is best for automating password resets?
⚡
TL;DR: My AskAI is my pick for most support teams, with Intercom Fin the runner-up for teams that want an emailed code and a teammate's sign-off. Fini is the wildcard for fintech teams handling lots of lost 2FA devices.
My AskAI tops the scoreboard on 61 because it covers the parts of password support that decide the outcome: clearing the everyday missing-email tickets, sending resets through your system and handing takeover risks to a person. It does all of that inside the helpdesk your team already works in, at about $241 a month for 1,000 tickets. Its identity checks beyond your helpdesk's are Task steps you write, so I recommend building them around the sign-in or code your customers already use.
Intercom Fin is a close second on 58, with a documented emailed code and a teammate approval step before risky actions. Fini is the only tool to cover all six jobs and suits a fintech team where lost 2FA devices are common (at a price that needs high volume to make sense). Ada has the best documented sign-in check, and Tidio suits a small team that doesn't have a helpdesk yet. If password tickets are a small share of your volume, letting the AI answer the missing-email questions and keeping every reset with your team is a sensible place to start.
Whichever tool you choose, roll password resets out in stages, and you can stop at the stage your team is comfortable with:
Start with the missing-email tickets - the AI answers spam-folder, expired-link and wrong-address questions from your content.
Run the reset in draft mode - the AI proposes each reset as an internal note so your team sees it before any customer does.
Let it send resets for checked customers first - customers already signed in, or who pass the check you set.
Keep hard recoveries on approval - lost email and lost 2FA device cases wait for a teammate, or go straight to one.
Send takeover signs to a person, always - an email change plus a reset, "I didn't ask for this" or repeated failed checks.
To try a reset Task on your own password tickets, the 30-day free trial gives you every feature with no card.
FAQs
Can an AI agent reset a customer's password, or only send the reset link?
It can do either, depending on the tool and how you set it up. Tools that can act on an account (My AskAI's Tasks, Fin's data connectors, Fini's actions and Tidio's Lyro Actions) trigger the reset or unlock in your own system and tell the customer what to expect. Tools without that connection can only explain the steps and point to your login page.
How does it confirm the person asking is the account holder before acting?
Each tool does it differently. Intercom Fin emails the customer a one-time code, Ada uses a sign-in step with a failure message, Fini adds a second identity check before any sensitive action, and Zendesk relies on the customer being signed in on your site or app. In our case, My AskAI shares account details with customers your helpdesk has already identified, such as an email sender or a signed-in chat user, and adds further checks as Task steps you write.
What happens when the customer has lost access to their email or 2FA device?
The normal reset can't work, so the AI should gather what your recovery process needs and route it by rule, usually to a person who makes the final call. Many large platforms handle this with a recovery form that a person checks. Fini is the one tool here with published 2FA fixes as a live action. I think this is the case to keep with a person the longest.
Which cases must always go to a person?
Suspected takeovers, failed identity checks, and any conversation where someone changes the account email and asks for a reset at the same time. That last one is how scammers use customer service to lock the real owner out. A customer asking for a person should always reach one too.
Which AI customer service tools handle password resets, billing changes and refund processing?
In this set, My AskAI, Intercom Fin, Fini and Decagon document account actions such as resets, and the same Tasks, connectors or procedures can handle billing changes and refunds within limits you set. Tidio lists password resets among its Lyro Actions (built by your developer). For the refund side in detail, see our roundup of AI customer service agents for refunds.
What is self-service password reset?
Self-service password reset is the IT term for letting staff change or reset their own password with no help desk involved. For your customers, the equivalent is the "forgot password" flow on your login page, plus an AI agent that can sort out the tickets that flow doesn't solve, as covered in the six jobs above.
