We’re about to make 2, massive, counterintuitive changes to our onboarding.

  1. We’re trying a ‘reverse 30 day trial’.
      • This is basically where you give customers full access, as if they were a paid user, for 30 days.
      • It’s free for them, and importantly they don’t need to provide a credit card.
      • Reason: We increasingly sell to larger companies who need more time to decide and need some company card/spend approval. So this lets them get full access with no constraints for a month.
  1. We’re manually onboarding all new customers who have >500 support tickets per month.
      • This is straight out the Superhuman playbook and is going to be very time consuming.
      • Reason: We continually see that customers who have setup their AI agent properly get significantly better answers, which leads to better conversion. We also see that users who ask questions before they buy are much more likely to convert. We want to optimize the AI setup for all new customers.

We can do both of these things — that will cost us more time and money — because of the confidence we have in the quality of our core product: AI answers to customer support questions. We know that once you put your AI agent live, you’re extremely unlikely to turn it off / cancel your account. We know our answer quality is in the very top bracket of our industry, so we just need to give companies time and space to experience that.

Will report back on how it goes!
