Amidst the frenzy of new AI models released over the last few weeks.
One new feature from Anthropic got even more attention. It's not intelligent and has nothing to do with AI. This feature is all about creating a more intuitive UX for how you can work with an AI model on a task. It means you don't have to keep copying and pasting some data, outputs, or code into another piece of software.
The new feature is called 'Artifacts', and it's part of Claude (Anthropic's version of ChatGPT). Artifacts gives you, the user, a little preview window of an output you've asked for from the AI.
Imagine you have a financial report as a PDF, and you want to create an interactive dashboard for it. Typically, you would spend a decent amount of time going back and forth with the AI to format the data and write the code. You'd then have to host that code and data somewhere, and find a way to share it with people.
With Artifacts, you can:
Create that interactive dashboard
Iterate on it until you're happy with it
Simply share it with anyone you like
It's these types of non-AI product releases that will drive AI adoption. Incremental model updates won't move the needle on AI usage, but tools like this will. AI models give us an incredible capability, but they still need to be put into a thoughtful, easy-to-use, and valuable product for normal people to use.
